Premium Channel Aggregator - Using TV Everywhere Credentials Posted: 07 Oct 2020 09:21 AM PDT So I'm in a unique situation. I'm living in Georgia, but my parents live in VA. They subscribe to Verizon FiOs cable and internet. They've been letting me use their TV Everywhere login, so I have access to their channels. I've used the Channels app to aggregate the FiOs channels with my local channels (via Locast). However, my parents also subscribe to Starz and Showtime; because these are premium channels, they don't work with the Channels app. I'd really like to find a way to put the live feeds from these apps into a guide format so I can access them via Apple TV. These feeds would obviously also be accessed using the TV Everywhere credentials. Any thoughts on a solution? [link] [comments]

Google TV Chromecast versus mi Box 4 Posted: 07 Oct 2020 04:34 AM PDT I know they are similar specs, so Performance should be on par with each other... But based on the few demo videos I've lost of the new Chromecast TV, it looks like the interfaces buttery smooth on it. My mi Box 4 isn't necessarily slow, but I feel like it has become more sluggish and the interface slower. I don't do much other than Plex, YouTube, and sling. Has anyone used both and can comment on performance? I'll probably pick up a Chromecast TV during Black Friday since it will most likely go on sale, but just thought I would ask. Thanks! OG Android TV launcher on Chromecast w/ Google TV ? Posted: 06 Oct 2020 12:32 PM PDT Alright I'll say it, I think I might want the old launcher back. Has anyone successfully got the old launcher working on the new Chromecast. [link] [comments]
Sony - every few months, all apps lose sound except for Netflix. Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:30 AM PDT Every few months, all apps lose sound except for Netflix. So, then I play with all the audio settings trying to fix it. Nothing works and so I have to reset the entire tv, reinstall and login to all apps again. WTF! Does anyone have an explaination and/or solution for this? Thanks [link] [comments]

Google TV issue with CEC (TV volume control) Posted: 06 Oct 2020 05:07 PM PDT Just finished setting up the new Google TV dongle on my Vizio TV (V series). The CEC seems to be semi broken: I can turn the TV on/off using the GTV remove, however, the volume control doesn't work consistently, regardless of the speaker output (TV or soundbar) I'm using. Sometime it works and other times it's fully broken. Does anyone else experience a similar issue? [link] [comments]

Just looking for some standalone media player apps....with playlist and nas support Posted: 06 Oct 2020 04:25 PM PDT Hello! Recent purchaser of a sony x900h, loving the tv and androidtv. For most things anyway. I have a PC hooked up to the tv, as well as a synology NAS on the same network. The NAS is always on, the PC is on a lot, but not always. I'm especially looking to be able to just leave the PC off more often than what I've been doing previously. Yes, I have plex. Not sure if I like it though, I've had it for a while and it's great for what it does...but I want something not for streaming, but for playing my own files, locally. There are some basic apps built into the device even. Music/Tv/Media, for example. But they are all so basic! They don't seem to support playlists, and you can't even do something like play all files in a folder that includes subfolders. (So for example ify our folder system is music/artist/album if you wanted to play all of the songs from a particular artist, you can't...you have to choose an album. Drives me nuts. Plex is ok, I'm not really convinced it's a great way to play filles locally, especially of 4k UHD content especially with lossless audio tracks...which is disappointing, but a main complaint I have with plex is it doesn't seem to support the ability to use conventional playlists such as those generated by foobar and the like. Obviously with external playlists it needs some tweaking, but that's easy to handle with a quick find/replaceall. But it seems plex just doesn't do this at all. Sigh. Another minor complaint that I have with all of the media apps that I've found so far, there's not an easy way to use the app in androidtv to play music stored on my NAS, without the tv being turned on. There is the "turn picture off" option, which is fine if you just want to press play and never touch it again...but the moment you use the remote to press pause or skip a track...the tv turns right back on. That last complaint may just not be an issue in the long run, as I am getting a new receiver in a week that I think supports network play(my current one does but I've never used it as previously I just kept the pc running all day)..so it's possible my goals for music playback might be met by the new receiver...but I kinda doubt it will have playback support...it is something that tends to get skipped over. Any thoughts? Am I asking for something that's impossible and I just need to keep my PC plugged in all of the time? [link] [comments]

Replace Google TV with Android TV on new Chromecast Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:56 AM PDT Is there a way to replace the new Google TV interface with the Android TV interface on the new Chromecast. I don't *hate* the new interface but it was easier to remove stuff I didn't want to deal with on the Android TV interface and Google TV doesn't seem to be nearly as flexible [link] [comments]
Bluetooth Speaker Question Please Posted: 06 Oct 2020 10:40 AM PDT Question for the audiophiles please. Both my TV and the new Chromecast with Google TV have Bluetooth. Would one be better (Dolby, etc.) to pair to my Bluetooth speaker? Thanks! [link] [comments]
