What is the Android shell program (equivalent of Windows explorer.exe) called? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 03:41 AM PDT I am not talking about the filesystem navigator here, but the program that draws the Home screen and notification bar, much like Anyway, once I know its name, I would love to figure out why this program seems to randomly crash on my Huawei Y560-L01 with Android 5.1.1, EMUI 3.1 lite. The problem has similar symptoms to explorer.exe crashing in Windows: the notification bar disappears, wallpaper goes black \though icons, folders and pages of the Home screen still work). I cannot scroll down to see notifications and setting shortcuts, and volume/brightness controls never show up.) [link] [comments] |
Pixel 4a switches back to Pixel home even after making Nova my default launcher Posted: 10 Oct 2020 09:09 AM PDT I received my 4a yesterday and customized the screen with Nova, and after every few hours, the phone switches back to Pixel home. I am known to the issue that Android 10 didn't use to support custom launchers because of some gestures but the issue got fixed last October. [link] [comments] |

Here's a fix for google play services causing battery drain, hot phone from recent updates Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:52 AM PDT After I had the issue myself, following an update taken 10/01/2020 (S10 on Xfinity, update released 9/25/2020), I found a fix. You can see some spicy reviews on the play store describing the problem, most dated 10/7/2020. From reading fixes for other issues, I pieced this together and I has worked for the past day and a half. 1) remove google accounts from phone, reboot 2) clear data from play services, reboot 3) add google account back 4) take all updates for all apps I'm guessing the update was a conflict between older apps and the new update for play services? I had no fix until I performed ALL of these steps. Even the deactivate for play services was not functioning (not acknowledging administrator privileges) and I kept getting the error DF-DFERH-01 when trying to do certain things in the app store (like reviews). Hope this helps. [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth headphone connected (for making calls only), cannot connect for media Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:15 AM PDT I have a boat 900 wireless. It used to work fine and dandy with my Redmi 6 Pro, and my laptop. But it's only connected for call, and I am unable to connect for media, on my new phone, Vivo Z1 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 10:42 AM PDT Hi, I recently found my old Samsung galaxy s4 mini and have been trying to use it but it is stuck in safe mode. I have tried simply restarting it and factory resetting it but nothing seems to be working. It is possible I have done either of these wrong so if you know how to do them properly then please give a very simple instruction on how to do either. Any other suggestions welcomed too. Open Source SPAM call blocking? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 10:01 AM PDT Any SPAM call blockers that are FOSS on gPlay store? Lots of free ones but they mine your personal data. [link] [comments] |
Is it worth giving $50-70 more for 6gb ram instead of 4gb ram? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 12:21 PM PDT I want to buy Samsung M21 with 4GB ram, but M31 is with 6GB ram. There is about $50-70 difference between them. Does it worth it? Other than the price, how much difference is there between 6gb ram and 4gb ram? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:52 AM PDT Hi guys I bought a smart p 2019, sadly I think it has been used which I don't mind, but I wanna know if after factory resetting it, will be safe to use and log in How can I check it? App Switcher gesture takes forever Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:35 AM PDT I'm on Android 11. If I want to see the app switcher (the card view), I have to swipe up and hold it for like 4+ seconds. Any less and it just takes me to the home screen. It wasn't always like this - it used to be quite responsive. How can I fix this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Oct 2020 10:02 PM PDT Transferring a large VR video file (of the Holy Bible read by the Pope) to my SD card on my Galaxy S7, but at the last 30 seconds it says "device has stopped responding or disconnected" ". What should I do? [link] [comments] |
Does fast charging (65 watts) affect the battery life? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:27 AM PDT So I am planning to buy realme 7 pro it has a 65 watt charger.I wanted to know whether the fast charging affect the battery in the long run(2 years) because I have seen some people saying that it degrades the batter and some say it doesn't affect the battery. Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:21 AM PDT I always have my phone on silent due to the fact i don't want my phone buzzing every 30 seconds but because of this i miss a lot of calls. I was wondering if there was a way to have my phone vibrate for phone calls only not messenger notifications, emails etc.. [link] [comments] |
What happens after login with FRP lock? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:20 AM PDT I sold my old phone not knowing avout this feature. I have selected a factory resrt and left it at that now i see its asking for my credentials. Will it work if i setup a dummy pass to my account so they can finish the reset? Its just to confirm its legit owner wiping? Or will my google acc stay logged jn/tied to the device and syncing my contacts/data? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 11:06 AM PDT I recently switched from the default Samsung Keyboard to SwiftKey due to some issues I had with it. I do like it so far, but it appears that it doesn't have the ability to underline incorrectly spelled words and provide a context menu of spelling suggestions. Is this something exclusive to the native keyboard or is there some sort of system setting that I'm unable to locate? The model is Galaxy s10e unlocked (US) [link] [comments] |
Timer/Alarm voice controls no longer allowed without Google assistant? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 09:28 AM PDT Last week, I was able to press the soft-mic button on my home screen's Google search bar and say "Set timer for 5 minutes" or "Set alarm for 3:00pm", which worked great when, say, cooking or taking a siesta. Now when I try, it prompts me to enable Google Assistant each time ("Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done - Turn On", which I don't tap/enable), and that's it. Other voice commands still work, such as "What song is this?" without any Assistant prompts So my question is, is this a bug, a just me issue, or are they removing certain features to try and rope people into Assistant usage? I'm running a Umidigi F2, with Android 10 (I know, I know. But my OG Pixel died pre-COVID and I got it to hold me over since the 4a was delayed, but then it's been great, lasts 2 days off charger, and supports LTE 71, so I'm sticking with it). The Google app was last updated October 1st (but installed a few days later on my device) [link] [comments] |
Received/Sent text messages that were no written by me or who sent them Posted: 09 Oct 2020 06:25 PM PDT For reference I have a Samsung Galaxy s20, android version 10, Sprint/T-mobile is the carrier. I do not know if any of this is relevant or not so I want to try to be sure, will add info if needed. 2 days ago I was texting my buddy who also has a android device, I believe he has at&t, I get a text from him along the lines of "at the beach in coupeville" I, ask him where that is and he does not seem to know what I am talking about. Some back and forth, we both think we are trying to fuck with each other, I send a screenshot of our texts showing that one he sends a screenshot back not showing any text about coupeville. Weird. Maybe just maybe he is messing with me but I believe him. Then today I text my partner around 4pm(for reference they have a Google pixel 3, same network as me) 2 hours later they respond in a way that makes no sense to me. I ask and they say yeah dinner plans sound good. We were not talking about dinner. I ask and they send a screenshot and there is a text from me to them that says something about "no plans do you want to do dinner with some turkey and veggies" that I absolutely did not send. This is very very weird. Has anyone experienced this or anything like it or can offer some sort of explination or a place to post this to get any insight? It is so weird. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 08:16 AM PDT There are apps that say I can't use them, as they require a camera. Even though there's a front-facing one, they only would allow a camera on the back. [link] [comments] |
Apps' default notification sounds Posted: 10 Oct 2020 03:47 AM PDT Hello everyone! I've switched to android after using ios for the past 8 years. And I always loved that every app had it's own notification sound, and I'm really used to it. Unfortunately my note 20 notification sounds are all the same, and I just can't find the way to set it to the apps' default notification sound. Well, except downloading the sounds and setting them manually, I think it's a waste of time. I can't understand how this basic feature isn't here. It's really becoming a problem, cause I use multiple messengers, mail apps, social media staff, and I'm constantly distracted by an unimportant notifications. I've tried to Google it and there's couple of same questions, but without answers. Is there any way to solve this issue? [link] [comments] |
Bluetooth headphones pair for calls but not audio? Posted: 10 Oct 2020 07:32 AM PDT I am using a Galaxy A7 and JBL headphones. Sometimes they only pair for calls. When I try to pair for audio, the switch button goes blue (meaning ON), but then it quickly goes gray and OFF by itself. Why does it happen? Why does the button undoes itself? How do I troubleshoot this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 06:56 AM PDT I'm using latest Android 11 version on Pixel 4. I've tried force stopping Pixel Launcher. Any help would be appreciated. Edit. This started happening when I started Android 11 Beta but has continued after official release and October update. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 06:49 AM PDT Hi, for some reason this morning the app swapping function of double tapping the App button on my navigation bar has stopped working. Yesterday a quick double tap would swap from the current app to the next most recent one used. This morning all I get with a quick double tap is the active app list. If I want to switch recent apps I have to do 2 slow taps. I don't remember changing any settings yesterday that would effect this functionality, and the only option I can find that mentions "double tap" when I search is to wake up the screen. Any idea how I can get this quick double tap app swap back? (Say that 10 times fast) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Oct 2020 05:26 AM PDT I started using newpipe some time ago and it's great so far, but I have a couple of questions. 1. What are the best settings for audio? Are the default setting the best it can get?

M30S Will not boot to safe mode Posted: 10 Oct 2020 05:01 AM PDT Hey all, I accidently dropped my phone yesterday and couldn't get it to start up. I opened it up, checked and cleaned the connections with 99 iso and reassembled everything. It now starts up, but during boot it stays permanently on the samsung logo. I am able to open android recovery mode but even after wiping the cache and attempting to load from the bootloader (stays on the download: to not turn off target screen) it still doesn't go beyond the samsung logo. I've attempted to start the phone in safe mode but all that happens is that it goes to the android recovery screen. I'm running stock android with no mods or anything. Here is the screenshot of what I see: https://i.imgur.com/PjN95kr.jpg Is there anything I can do? I can see the recovery logs but its difficult to understand; is there a way to export these logs? Is there a way to see in these logs whether any hardware is damaged? My last resort is to do a factory reset, but ideally I don't want to due to obvious reasons. Alternatively if there was a way to backup everything by connecting to PC and/or sd card I'm all ears. Any help is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
One Plys 8 pro - annoying hide keyboard arrow Posted: 10 Oct 2020 04:53 AM PDT So the annoying "hide keyboard arrow" that shows on the bottom of the keyboard, cannot be removed from the settings on my One Plus 8 Pro. So I previously used ADB to use overscan to adjust and it worked. But now, with the update to Android 11, overscan no longer works. Does anyone know a way to hide this hideous useless annoying button? [link] [comments] |
