For reference, I'm on a stock Samsung Galaxy S9+ (Model: SM-G965U) I tried to Google it, but most descriptions say, "Bio snap for Android empowers the fingerprint scanner on the Google Nexus 5X or 6P for capturing selfies" Is this a baked-in function on Android? | Mobile data isn't working but i got the 4G and H+ symbols Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:39 AM PDT When my Phone is connected to the wifi everything is normal, I got the wifi symbol and the mobile network symbol as usual. But when I'm not at home/not connected to the WiFi the mobile network symbol still shows the 1-4 bars but with a cross on it (like if I got no mobile network connection) and the mobile data symbols are there as usual (4G, H+,...). So I got the symbols but actually the phone has no connection to the internet. I summarize: -Connected to the wifi: everything as usual -Not connected to the wifi: 4G symbol as usual + network symbol shows "no connection" BUT its the exact opposite (no internet connection but phonecalls are possible) please I need your help guys Edit: My mobile data is ON and yes I tried to restart my phone [link] [comments] |
| S9 plus won't unlock after update Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:33 AM PDT So I updated my phone right, and when it's finished it doesn't let me unlock my phone because when I try to put the password, it lets me in for about 2 seconds then redirects me to the lock screen again. This has happened to me before but it was resolved by itself and IDK how. That time it only took about 2 hours, now I left it like this overnight and I wake up to find it the same as it was before I went to bed. I hope someone can help because I can't open my phone now. Or some custom limit to reduce battery degradation? I tend to keep phones for years at a time, but the batteries always fail on me and i read at Battery University that limiting lithium based batteries to 90-80% can massively increase the charge cycle count. | Posted: 03 Oct 2020 10:18 AM PDT I am working on a program that uses ADB from Windows to do various things with the phone. I would like the ability to alert on when a new SMS message arrives on the phone through ADB. Is there a way to check SMS though ADB? I have not been able to really find an answer when searching. I would also like to achieve this without needing a rooted phone. Now if it is not possible to read the SMS database , are there any log files on Android that could be read to see if there was a new SMS event or something like that? I did figure out that I can do this by using the "adb shell dumpsys notification" method to see if there is a new SMS in the notification bar. But the output from dumpsys only reveals the SMS "from" phone number and not the contents of the message. [link] [comments] |

| How to get rid of another user's stuff out of my phone? Posted: 03 Oct 2020 09:31 AM PDT Basically I got a new phone. I signed into my sister's Scibd account using Gmail. This added all of her contacts and put her account in my Gmail and gave the option to sign in to her stuff in Chrome. So I signed out and removed the account from the device. I thought that fixed it but I received a security alert for her email when she was trying to sign into another device. I accidentally blocked her without thinking. She wants to get rid of all traces of this on my phone. And so my phone does not count as one of her devices. How would we get rid of these completely? As a said I signed out of her account and it no longer appears when I try to manage it. I am still signed to Scribd however. Will signing out of the account fix it? Or is there another way? To clarify I don't have any of her contacts and I cannot sign into her stuff anymore. We just want to get rid of the security checks and any ties so we do not come across any other consequences in the future. [link] [comments] |

| Unable to edit quick settings on TCL 10 PRO Posted: 03 Oct 2020 08:08 AM PDT So I got a new TCL phone yesterday, and it's cool nothing crazy. But my biggest annoyance is that there is no obvious way to edit quick settings. There's no pencil icon, edit button, or anything. Going into the settings app has nothing. The status bar has no options. If I go to the second page of quick settings it just has one button for NFC. If I hold press any of the icons it opens that specific setting page and I can't move the icons either. Is anyone familiar with these phones? I'm not impressed atm [link] [comments] |

The icon is the green android guy, I downloaded malwarebytes but it didn't detect anything, it's in the "system apps" section, it's 129kb. At first I thought it was a system app, because it's shows as last updated in 2018,(bought my phone new in 2019 so maybe that's when it was set up) and nothing shows up when looking it up on Google. Biggest red flag was the permissions, it has "phone", "change you audio setting" and "retrieve running apps". So? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Oct 2020 07:21 AM PDT I know there's a few tricks you can use like airplane mode to stop the transfer, and you can often pull down on the lock screen to show a whole message. Is there any actual way to disable it within the app, an extension or app? I hoenstly don't know much about this stuff, but I can't stand read receipts I dont want to send or receive them ya know. When I try to open reddit sync, I get a toast saying "permision denied." My other two reddit apps -- Slide and Infinity -- seem to have intermittent internet connections. Turns out the it's not the original website, so I might have downloaded a harmful app. I gave the app permission to download and SMS, but I don't have a SIM anyway. Quickly uninstalled it.
