Android TV to buy (not a box)

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:01 AM PDT

Hi, new here and have lots of doubts because of how Android TV used to be unstable. Want to get ~55" OLED smart TV (no good dumb TVs this size) and was looking at LG E9, but these are out of stock where I live. Also don't like other manufacturer OSes.

So was thinking for a while now about Android TV, but is OS mature enough on any good TV? Want a good panel and sound with stable software. Thinking to spend up to $2k

Any advice is welcome Thank you

Edit: Will be used mostly for Plex and other web services. No TV feature is actually needed

    My Screensaver won't turn on

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 05:32 AM PDT

So I've had this new skyworth tv for over a couple of months now and at first it had this really beautiful screen saver that was simply called "colors" or something along that line. I liked it because I have a bit of a lighting issue in my room so it serves as a good background.

But now it suddenly stopped working. Normally it would turn on after 30 mins of inactivity but now I could leave the tv alone for the longest time and it wouldn't really do anything, it'll just turn off eventually. I tried playing with the settings, mainly in the screensaver menu, but I couldn't figure out why it stopped working.

I'd be really thankful if anyone could help me out with this issue. And sorry for not knowing the exact name of the tv I just know it's a skyworth with android OS

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick audio delay

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 03:47 PM PDT

So been using the TV stick for about 2 weeks now and everything works well except there's an audio delay of about 1 second.

It'll be fine for about an hour or two and then the audio just lags behind the video. Its not restricted to a particular app as well.

This can be fixed by either removing the stick from the hdmi and plugging it back in(device will still be on and so I can resume playing) or simply rebooting the stick.

I'm hoping its an issue with the tv because it is pretty darn old.

Will test it on another TV and give feedback here.

    Anyone else experienced this?

    User experience of NVIDIA Shield?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 03:30 PM PDT

Hey guys, I own an Android TV, and thinking of a streaming solution. I have a lot of questions, hopefully you can answer a few of them: I've been using Netflix for a while but there are many shows I want to watch that are not on Netflix or in my country. (And vpn is slow) Only problem is I LOVE Netflix's UI, the way the catalog is organized, how it immediately goes over to the next episode, allows you to skip the opening.. Obviously some of these stuff can't be reproduced with shield (for example Shield cannot automatically skip openings, obviously), but how close can it get in terms of organizing my library? What is the normal procedure if I have a TV show on my computer and I want to watch it with the Shield? How instant and hands free is this process? If I transfer a show to the Shield, can it automatically (or by manually teaching it somehow to) recognize it and show me a description of that TV show and understand the order of episodes? or is it too much to expect of this box? My current solution is to download a movie on my PC and share it on a network drive, and then connect to the drive from my Android TV, but the navigation on the TV's native UI is TERRIBLE and takes too much time, how much better will it be with a Shield? (or any other box for that matter) Thanks!

My Android TV box isn't showing up in Android TV remote app on my Smartphone.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:13 AM PDT

So I have an android box running 8.1 and uts great but the remote is so bad. Instead of buying a new remote I was planning on using this app from Google on my smartphone. Theyre both connected to the same Internet connection, the android box is ethernet and my phone is WiFi(box doesn't have WiFi, but that shouldn't be the problem). When I open the app on my phone it searching endlessly but can never find my android box. I've turned off the box for 10 seconds and tried resetting it, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
