Is there some way to turn off the Google play staff pick section that has appeared at the top of my Sony Android TV?

    Return Android TV or keep?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 01:23 AM PDT

Hi, so a couple of days ago I bought an Android TV in the uk. It's a sharp 50". It was about £330 on sale down from £370. It's okay but not amazing.

The first issue I find is that the edges go washed out and a little blue. It's not really noticable watching normal content but when it's a dark scene I find it a little distracting. I don't think this is backlight bleed as it seems to move with me (e.g. I move my head to the right, the right side gets better and the left side gets worse). I think it's the viewing angles that are just crap (as when I view it from the side it's a similar thing) I'm also sitting about 2 meters or so away. Am I just too close? Or are the viewing angles just so bad that the edges do this? Or do all led TVs do this?

The second issue is that it's a little slow at times. Occasionally the Netflix app will stutter; not all the time but about 2-3 times every hour. Sometimes the audio will go out of sync after this. So I have to pause and play again. And sometimes the TV takes a minute to respond to things in menus.

Thirdly in Netflix, as the subtitles come on and off, the screen tends to brighten and darken which is really distracting. Is this a Netflix issue or a backlight issue? I've heard people say each. Some say it's the backlight having to match the brightest area, other's say it's a Netflix overlay that is messed up. Some people say to just turn subs off but I struggle to hear things a bit.

Fourth is All4 casting. For some reason the adverts screw up. When it gets to the advert it will just pause itself. You hit play and it does nothing. You have to uncast and recast every time for it to work again. I ended up shoving my old Chromecast in the back just to cast channel 4 stuff (works fine on there). The all4 app does work on the TV so I can use that(didn't before - had to factory reset after 2 days of owning to get it working)

My overall question then is should I just return this TV, get a non androidTV and buy a Mi Box or something? Or should I keep it because these problems are normal - then just get an androidTV device down there line when this one slows down?

I'm hoping to not spend too much more overall than the price I paid as I'm on a tight ish budget and my old tv needs to go back to it's original owner (my mum lol). I know cheap = crap most of the time but was hoping to find a balance somewhere. I can't find many TVs around this price range that are from the better brands. There are a few Hisense ones I've seen but don't know if they're actually any good as I don't know the brand very well. Thanks!

    Mi Box S Ethernet Adapter

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 02:28 PM PDT

Hi, new to androidTV so in need of some help

I recently got a Xiaomi Mi box S and I want to connect it via Ethernet. I saw on a different Post that

    this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KKK3I4E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_2wLhCbKTXK2HW

    is apparently a working adapter.

My question is: Do all Ethernet Adapters work with the Mi Box S or are there only certain ones and if so, which would you recommend?

    grateful for any help

    BT Auto Connect HELP?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:22 PM PDT

I have an Ematic Jetstream 4K Android TV Box. I had a Phillips blutetooth soundbar that would connect automatically no problems . I was gifted a LG Bluetooth Soundbar with wireless subwoofer and I'm having problems getting it to auto connect ! I deleted all the paired accessories and I have to delete the LG soundbar each time to use it. When I go to accessories and I click on the device it offers to rename or delete.... so I've been deleting and pairing it each time! Is this something on the soundbar or Android tv....? Anyone had this problem and found a solution !? Help please !???

NFL App Keeps Adding 20 games to "Play Next"

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 03:28 PM PDT

While not a major issue it is pretty annoying. The NFL App keeps auto adding the last 20 games of last season to my AndroidTV Play Next list through NFL GamePass. I'll remove them and then a few days later they're all back. Short of uninstalling the app or logging out of it does anyone have any recommendations for stopping it from doing this? Is there any way I can manage how Play Next functions or which apps it works with?

Issue with Hisense casting and app question

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 05:52 PM PDT

I am trying to cast YouTube from my phone to my Hisense h65 model running Android TV (fully updated). When I click the cast icon I see the tv as a choice but nothing ever displays on the tv when I select it. On Roku or LG, when I cast it automatically opens the app..am I doing something wrong ? Also, I know that Hisense does have the Shahid Arabic tv app on Android TV but I cannot find it in the PlayStore. Does anyone have a link to the androidtv version APK so I can sideload it?

    Opinions on the meCool KM1/KM3?

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 12:49 PM PDT

    Hi guys,

I've been looking for a cheap android tv box with USB 3.0. It's kind of hard to find a Mi Box here in Canada but I came across these MeCool devices.

In most threads I see here, people suggest the only 2 legitimate Android TV boxes are the Mi Box and Nvidia Shield and every other chinese box is not running the legit Android TV. But the MeCool KM1 is said to be running Android TV and not just some android skin and it's also Google certified and supports HD amazon prime streaming, but no netflix. The KM3 is similar but doesn't do amazon prime.

Does anyone have one of these devices and have any feedback on them? Can it run local 4k files smoothly? How good can it stream over WiFi? Any lag or huge issues I should know about?

No longer able to cast to Xiaomi Mi Box 3

    Posted: 10 Aug 2020 11:53 AM PDT

When pressing the cast button on things like YouTube, Netflix, plex, etc. I can no longer see my MiBox 3 as a listed device. I've factory reset the box as well as my phone to no avail. Not sure what else to do. Both devices are definitely connected to the same wifi network. My ISP did just come a couple of days ago and give me a new router and modem so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any help is appreciated.
