| New battery installed. My phone now re-starts everytime on wake-up Posted: 11 Aug 2020 09:59 AM PDT I have a phone I've been using for 2 years now (Coolpad 3320A) and the battery needed replacement after the old one swelled up and overheated. I replaced it with a new genuine oem battery and charged the phone to 100%. Now I have another problem I haven't seen before. Every time I wake up my phone from sleep inactivity, the screen freezes for a few seconds and then restarts, going to the start up logo. No matter what apps I have on the screen at the moment or if no app is active. I do not know if this has anything to do with the battery but wondering what I can do other than a factory reset to fix the restart problem? I'm not sure what to do here. [link] [comments] |

| deleted .android folder on SD card Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:28 AM PDT aight so i deleted .android folder on my SD from the files app on my phone and cause of that i am no more able to the data on access it. yeah ik stupid me. i tried to read it on my linux pc but apparently the disk has "unrecognized disk label" and therefore i cannot even access it there. though it shows only 30mb card storage while the card is of about 32gigs so hopefully data aint lost. what should i do :( [link] [comments] |

| Suggestions for an Alarm Clock app Posted: 11 Aug 2020 07:23 AM PDT I couldn't really find a good subreddit to ask this question, so hopefully this will do. I've been using the Timely app for years, but the Android 10 update broke it and the app hasn't been updated in 2 years. It still sorta works, but when the alarm goes off, the app doesn't open. I have to swipe down my notifications, find the one from Timely and tap it. That'll open the app. The timer function is 95% broken. If you set a timer, the time will not go off unless the phone is unlocked and the app is open. So it still technically works, but it's mostly useless. Here is why the stock Clock app doesn't work for me. I am not a morning person. When I get woken up, I am always very groggy. The Clock app shows 2 icons. One for snooze and one for turning the alarm off. Groggy me is not able to differentiate between the two (especially because there are no words, just icons) and I end up turning the alarm off when I mean to snooze. Timely had a great solution to this. There was a circle on the screen. If you tap it, it snoozes. If you swipe the circle off the screen, the alarm turns off. This is much more preferable to me than setting multiple alarms. I don't need any fancy features. That is why I liked Timely so much. I don't want to solve math problems, I don't want to shake my phone around, or take a picture of some object, or do anything else. [link] [comments] |
| How can I change my own name that appears in Messages images? Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:15 AM PDT Hi! I'm trying to update my name on my phone in a very specific place. I'm using the Android stock Messages app on my Motorola G7 Power, which is running Android 9. I got it from Telstra in Australia, so this is pretty close to stock Android. My problem: In Messages, if I tap one of the images that I've sent, it shows my old name. I don't know where it's getting this name from. I can't find a way to change it. Here is one of my messages that I've sent in the Messages app: When I click on the image, I see this screen, with my old name in the top left. I don't want to see that name. Here's where I've updated my name so far:
Any idea where I can change my name so the Messages app will stop displaying my old one? I'd rather not factory reset this phone and reinstall everything from scratch, but this is really unpleasant for me and if I can't find a way to stop Messages using my old name then it's what I'm going to be stuck doing. It's not at all normal and I'm certain its not a background app issue. I've tried rebooting but it doesn't make a difference. | Strange audio glitch - Andriod 10 Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:32 AM PDT My OnePlus 6 phone started playing unreleased hip-hop/trap music only when plugging in headphones or connecting to a Bluetooth speaker. I thought this was just Spotify or my local music files but I was unable to stop this music from playing and couldn't find the source of the audio. I tried scanning for malware/viruses with a few different apps and they all found nothing. The first track to play was 'Kanye West - Alien' which isn't officially released meaning it couldn't be a streaming service playing the audio. I could not find a song that was officially released. They all were artist throwaways. e.g. Travis Scott - License, Travis Scott - Love It Mane. What's even stranger is I've never listened to these Travis Scott songs before and do not have them on my phone. The only thing I can think of is YouTube glitching the hell out as that's where you can find these songs. However, I do not have YouTube premium and this audio was playing in the background with no song information whatsoever. Only a couple days ago, OnePlus pushed a software update that I installed. Hopefully, the update wasn't related as that could mean a serious security vulnerability on Andriod. Restarting my phone stopped the music from playing but in the process kind of freaked me out 😅. I just noticed that a small droplet of water appeared on my screen and at the back of the phone. I've been observing it for about an hour now and it is still having moisture. So far I haven't found any worth it the one I do have is pretty bad. Are there any that don't just stick along the edges? Is there anything that do the same as my other screen protectors and stick around the whole screen? Normally I use tempered glass but I guess if I have to I'll just use a film one. So, I downloaded firmware ROM from sammobile, and used Odin3 to flash ROM and remove all data. Now I use new google acc. Is there still way the virus still exist on my phone? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 11 Aug 2020 09:18 AM PDT My dad recently upgraded to an oppo find x2 lite and the dual clock on that phone only works when you're in a different time zone from the home location, even if you're in another country that has the same time zone ( I checked by changing the home location to a neighbouring country) my dad travels a lot and likes to see the weather at home. Is there any app that basically gives normal dual clock (or a weather app that adds a dual weather widget) functionality that works per location and not per time zone? [link] [comments] |

| Galaxy S6 Edge- Stock Firmware but shows up as Note 8 Posted: 11 Aug 2020 08:51 AM PDT Hey Everyone! Today I finally decided to replace battery in my S6E. I flashed original Stock 7.0 (with PIT file since I used treble script on it). After successful bootup I logged to my Samsung and Google account. On Samsung Account, my device is detected correctly (as SM-G925F). But on Google's website it shows up as Galaxy Note 8. Many of Custom ROMs I used had to change my model to Note 8 for some features to work, but it is a stock ROM. Is there something I could do about this? And yes, before flashing Stock ROM everything has been wiped and re-partitioned. [link] [comments] |

I'm looking to go with a phone that won't destroy my bank account. The three I've been looking at are the new google pixel 4a, Motorola g power, or a refurbished s9. I mainly use Spotify, YouTube, text, Snapchat, call, and some apps like Reddit or amazon, etc. I like not having to charge throughout the day, that's where the g power has me intrigued also since it's super cheap. I'm scared it won't be as snappy as the pixel and I'll see bogged down. I know I'm compromising wireless charging (rip my wireless chargers I've collected) with the pixel and the power, and the Motorola has no nfc. I'm just torn, any advice or suggestions? | I Need Help with Unknown Malware Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:04 AM PDT Hi everybody! So for the past month my Samsung Galaxy S7 has been infected with something that constantly redirect me to some shady websites that I'm afraid would infect me with more malware. These redirect only happen when I'm actively using my phone. It would override any apps I use and immediately open chrome with new tabs on these shady websites. It happens every 30 minutes or so. I have some screenshots of some details when this actually happens, what tabs it open when I'm in chrome, and recent history of some shady websites it redirects to. I've tried everything I've searched on google and honestly I've no idea what else to do. I have installed many stuff like malwarebytes, avast, etc to no avail. I haven't Installed anything else these past few months except reddit and imgur to upload these pics. If you need any more info please feel free to ask and if you all have any suggestions on different subreddits that I could post my situation to please share it with me.
