I've removed them one by one and put them back in a different order, multiple times. Somehow, no matter what, my junk is the one that Google wants to show off. I'd rather it not do a preview at all, but at a minimum i'd like to have one layer of protection. Any ideas? I mean, i really don't want to intimidate anyone with my size. /s [link] [comments] |

| How can i make a android tablet Truly Child-Safe? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 06:02 AM PDT So i give my child the tab sometimes to play games. Problems i have are: 1. Ads from games. Unbelievable amount of ads in these kids games. (In-app paid items too) 2. The ads themselves will sometimes open the playstore to show some other app to install. This is a slippery slope for a parent who has carefully curated the games the kid is playing. 3. Some game ads might play some videos (using some sort of internal browser i guess) to play videos on youtube. Child might end up with inappropriate videos this way and is totally sneaky. It is not fiscally possible to buy every game the child plays and sees ads in. Especially if child is shown ads for other games and stuff all the time. I tried using AdAway and AdBlock (on a rooted tab that too) but does not stop the in-game ads. This is a rooted Samsung Tab E running AOKP ROM (Android 7.1) [link] [comments] |

I opened up "App info" for it, and it doesn't have any permissions required, but none denied either. Any idea why this is happening? I'm on Android 10, Kernel 4.14.62. My phone is a Samsung A50. I decided to give my Samsung Galaxy J7 to mu dad, who in turn decided it was a great idea to give it to my 8 year old brother. Just like any little kid, he immediately assumed he knew e v e r y t h i n g about phones and did whatever he wanted with it. Fast forward to today, it's running way slower than I remember, 14gb of space are somehow allocated just for the system (I mean it happened to me too, but not as quickly and certainly not 14 Gigabytes). So naturally, I tried to restore it to its factory settings. And it asked me to use the first email I assigned to this phone. Well, that email no longer is in the accounts list on the Gmail app! Hooray! Apparently my brother decided to remove it and replace it with his own email a while back. I wish I could remember its password, but well.... I wouldn't be here if I did. I can't retrieve the password from gmail, and I'm stuck with a phone this close to be completely unusable. If anyone could help me out, I would really appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
| Toxicity of TPU screen protectors? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 08:22 AM PDT I have a LK screen protector for my s10. After leaving my phone under the sun for a bit, it started emitting an odor. It's not particularly strong smelling or anything, and i only really notice it when I bring my face closer, but it seems suspicious. I know that TPU can release toxic fumes when it melts, but has anyone else encountered something like this before with their screen protector? If so, how do I get rid of it? Thanks. Also I can't edit flair for some reason on my mobile app. As the title says my note 9 S-pen is broken because I dropped my phone. It broke at the infamous connection between the metal and plastic edges and seems irreparable. Original S-pen replacements are nowhere to be found where I live (Netherlands) so I wondered if any of you maybe had one laying around? | Posted: 18 Aug 2020 12:07 PM PDT I woke up today and found that my phone wasn't charging. I tried a few different chargers and different outlets to no avail, so I took it to a repair shop. They said they would take a look at it, and they asked me for my PIN, which I gave a little reluctantly. They replaced the charging port and it works fine now. I'm not sure if I'm being paranoid or appropriately cautious. I tried to check the recently used apps using this method: https://thegeekpage.com/view-app-history-android-even-someone-cleared/ and found that the usage history seemed to be cleared (maybe they did some type of reset?) I downloaded bitdefender and ran a scan and nothing came up. The battery life also seems to be going down just a bit faster than usual, but maybe that's just me. | Galaxy S10 Plus flashing Android 10 update Posted: 18 Aug 2020 11:11 AM PDT I just found out that my Galaxy S10 Plus that was originally a ATT phone and is now unlocked for Verizon will no longer receive updates because it has been unlocked. I am going to be manually flashing the latest Android 10 update onto the phone. My questions is, do I use the "USA" or "USA (Verizon)" firmware? I have the SM-975U and am not sure if I am supposed to use the firmware for the phones original carrier (ATT) or of I should be using the firmware for the carrier I am on now (Verizon). Also I cannot find a ATT specific version of the firmware I just see a USA, Verizon, Sprint, and TMobile version. Any advice on which to use would be wonderful. [link] [comments] |

| Dates messed up after transfering photos to SD card Posted: 18 Aug 2020 02:25 AM PDT I transferred all my photos to a new SD card. Some of these photos weren't taken by my phone, but some sent on WhatsApp. I moved them with the Google Photos app from "Whatsapp Images" and "Whatsapp Video" to "Camera". After transferring them, Google Photos now lists a bunch of them on the wrong date, showing them on the day they were copied over rather than the actual date the picture was taken (or when I got them from Whatsapp). Also some random screenshots show up and some that are months old. This doesn't happen with all pictures I copied from Whatsapp to Camera, just some of them, most are recent, few from a few months back. Is there any way I can fix this? [link] [comments] |

I absolutely cannot find this specific error anywhere (maybe I just suck at googling). It's a Galaxy Note 9 with Android 10 and OneUI 2.1. Not rooted. I've tried disabling and reenabling the play store and play services, clearing its cache and data and uninstalling and reinstalling. If you know about anything else I can do without jeopardizing my phone I would love to hear it. If you ever came across this error, please tell me where I can find more information about it. | Posted: 18 Aug 2020 05:19 AM PDT Using a One Plus 7, I was getting battery draining notifications quite often and checked it out, found an android app '-5' draining 4% of the battery. Anybody have any idea what it is? Using mobile data, no WiFi, had mobile hot-spot on for a while. Is there any chance at recovery? The other night I was staying at a friends house and I forgot to bring my phone charger, my phone (google pixel 3 XL) died and when I charged it in the morning I was quite annoyed when I realized it had been totally f***ed up. Basically my background had been changed, I could not connect to 4g internet, my home button and 'current open apps' button did not work, my quick access panel was all messed up, etc. I came to the conclusion that the phone had forced itself into the most recent android 10 update when it died and apparently this can cause this corruption. I was kinda annoyed but I figured I would just be forced to factory reset and could restore from my google account. Well, after not thinking twice about it or checking to make sure everything was backed up properly, I went ahead and factory reset only to realize upon restarting that there was no backup data on my main google account to restore to... First off if anyone knows anything about this please let me know because I am 90% sure that I had my backup and auto sync on but within my google drive it is not showing me anything. BUT, I can live with that, I was able to re download most of my apps, etc. and I had moved on. Until just about an hour ago when I realized that I had an app on my phone called 'Smart recorder' which is just a simple audio recorder that stores audio files locally. I have used this app for years and over that time have recorded a ton of audio memos to myself, song melodies/ideas, etc, things that are very important to me and I am now realizing that when I factory reset ALL of those mp3 files were deleted. Does anyone have any idea how I would be able to get them back? My main hope is that I know when you typically delete files it doesnt actually 100% delete them from the hardwares memory, is there any chance this recoverable or am I shit out of luck? I downloaded dr. phone data recovery but my phone isnt rooted and it says it can only find what is currently on the device and is only showing 46 files, plus they want quite a bit of money. But I've noticed for the past few months that when I leave my phone alone, after a while new notifications don't see to come up the instant they're supposed to happen. They come up only after i move my phone around or turn on the screen. Is there some kind of setting that I can change that will have the notificafions pop up when they're supposed to and not after i interact with my phone?
