On my android phones I'm constantly disabling tracking features for location, history etc and in getting fed up of it to be honest. Now with apple reducing the feature set Devs have to track (Facebook have publicly complained that it is damaging to their business model), I'm more and more intigued by getting an iPhone. If they have a high refresh rate screen this year, I think I'm willing to give them a go. As time has gone on I've used the more power user android features less and less. Wondering if people are thinking similar thoughts or have an opinion? [link] [comments] |

| I literally do not get notifications when my phone is locked Posted: 27 Aug 2020 11:25 AM PDT Super confused. Just got the A51. When my phone is unlocked, no problem, all emails, texts, whatever give me notifications like normal. When my phone is locked, it doesn't so anything. My phone screen just stays black untill I unlock it and see my notification waiting there for me. The notifications do come, they just don't light my screen up. How do I fix this? Theres no way to know I got a new email or text or whatnot untill I manually unlock my phone to see. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
| Got caught in the rain, phone keeps registerin volume down button, locking it in safe mode Posted: 27 Aug 2020 11:22 AM PDT The physical button is not pressed in and doesnt register at all but the phone is registering it as if its being held down. this means it always boots into safe mode as it registers the button press when booting. | Posted: 27 Aug 2020 03:40 AM PDT Sorry if the question seems stupid, but the back button is irritating me lately. It might be I didn't figure it earlier and that it always was like this bit since I noticed it's throwing me off. S10+ user on android 10 Current situation, picture it, I google anything, find eg. a reddit link which opens the reddit app (no matter if already started or not), i read the content and want to jump back to my google results. Iirc formerly using the OS back functionality provided this feature. It's quite a while now that this behaviour changed. Using back in the example before would bring me to the subreddit the post was in, back again to my own homefeed in reddit and ultimatively leave the app pressing back enough times. If I want to find the search results I have to swap back to it manually, which I now started doing since eg. also finding an article via google on guardian will lead to the same behaviour. So basically the back button is more of a backpedalling the hierarchy of an app than a true OS back in the sense of leading me back to where I came from. Is this just my device or generic? Posted: 27 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT My google search started behaving weirdly today.So while searching if I am scrolling the google search results the cards starts flickering. This flickering happens only for the special quickcards google has. Like for stackoverflow that shows links for similar questions or the similar apps quickcard. Not only this, if I rotate to landscape from youtube it will show me a small toast with text as rotate and 2 icons for a milisecond and disappear. Can someone explain this behaviour. | Posted: 27 Aug 2020 10:37 AM PDT In the last few days I have noticed a strange issue, whenver I leave my house my wifi on my phone turns itself off once it gets too far from the router. In the past it would just disconnect and switch to LTE but now I am being forced to manually turn my wifi back on everytime I leave the vicinity of my wifi network. I will end up being on LTE for hours if I don't catch it right away. I have Motorola G6 Optima Maxx HD with Android 9. There is a "Wifi Utility" that was added with a recent update. I made sure to check "Disable Wi-Fi Management" and disabled the"Network Optimizer" as well. Any ideas what could be shutting off my wifi now? There aren't many options in the wifi setting. | App data to sd card formatted as internal storage help Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:22 AM PDT I'm unsure if this is the right place or not but figured I would give it a shot. Full disclosure: Android newbie here. I'm trying to get apps like HBO Max, Netflix and such to download the videos to my sd card that has been formatted as internal storage. Is this even possible? I can't seem to get anything to actually install on the sd card. Every time I try to download movies and such it fills up my default internal storage and starts creating other issues. | [HELP] Google FRP Lock on Galaxy J5 Posted: 27 Aug 2020 08:43 AM PDT Hi guys A friend of mine lost her phone and I found an old Galaxy J5 on my drawer so I reset before giving it to her. Apparently I left the Google FRP on but I only use one gmail acount and every time I try to login, it accepts the account as it prompts to login on my phone, I authorise the login and then comes an error saying I've changed the password within 24h, even though I haven't. I waited the 24h, then the 72h as advised online and still nothing, every time I still get the 24h hours message. I've called samsung UK but they won't accept proof of purchase because the device was bought on the USA and so I'd have to send it back there lol. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
| Need help getting rid of adult ads Posted: 27 Aug 2020 06:31 AM PDT I know, ads are a necessary evil, which I usually don't mind, if I don't want them on certain sites/apps I usually pay for premium. Well, lately Google has been giving me some, eehm, more adult ads, I have been disabling my old dating app profiles and I'm into cosplay so searched wish for some costume ideas, now you can all guess what other kinds or costumes popped up on wish. So now I'm getting constant ads of wish for BDSM costumes and for "dating apps" which are so overly sexualized that I don't get why Google allows it. They are not small adds either, think screen filling ads. If this is seen when I'm on my phone at work during break and such this can be reason for termination of my contract, so I'm looking for a ad blocker or something for my phone. Tnx in advanced. Posted: 26 Aug 2020 04:54 PM PDT Umm, so I just bought a new android and as I was looking through it I opened bluetooth and see that the salesman had paired his phone to mine. He had walked away with both devices for a while to "get closer to the wifi" in order to do the transfer. I checked through the photos on my new phone but it seemed like not all of my photos from my old phone transferred to my new one. So thankfully no nudes got transferred. But I'm still kind of creeped out. Why would he have had to pair my phone to his? Now that he has, should I be worried? What other information could he had access to? | Google Family + Sideloading APKs Posted: 27 Aug 2020 11:29 AM PDT Dear /r/AndroidQuestions, I have bought a tablet for my child, and set up Google Family to lock it down a bit; I figure we'll take small steps until they're allowed full freedom. I do have downloaded APKs that I want to install (mainly wholesome games), and the current security setting don't allow this - and I can't manage to give myself permission to install APK's, even with the parent account. Do you know of any way to sideload APK's on a device with Google Family active? I've tried seaching, but everything points to 'regular' sideloading information; the family + sideloading combination is rather uncommon, apparently. Thank you very much for any help. | My Samsung A50 screen is broke and I want to access it with my laptop Posted: 27 Aug 2020 07:11 AM PDT So I have this Samsung and it recently fell into a water bucket while cleaning and after a while the screen didn't respond so I went to get it fixed and when they gave it back they said that they couldn't fix it and when I checked the phone the screen was now black so they basically made it worse. I've been looking for videos but none of them actually work, I have a Windows 10 laptop and I have been trying to use my laptop to control my phone but nothing I try actually works I've tried Fonepaw and Vysor. I want to only recover a few videos I have saved on my phone and I do not have a data cable. Can someone tell me how I can access my phone? [link] [comments] |
