Leanback Installation on Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 09:35 PM PDT

Hopefully this is the correct subreddit to post this in! I just recently got a new Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. The default home screen is awful: bloated, clunky, and cluttered. I really want to install Leanback launcher to my Firestick and make that the new, default home screen. The trouble is, I have watched many different Youtube videos on how to do so, and they all do it differently. I have watched the Chris Waite youtube channel, TechDoctorUK, NxTLvLTech, Tech Info, Kodi America, and FireTVSticks. Some of them require you to type commands, some need an app called Filelinked, and they all tell me to go to different URLs and download different files. Are these all just different means to the same end? Or is there one proper/best way to do it? Thanks!

I'll link the videos I've seen down here in case anyone needs more context on what I'm talking about:

I also have a few other questions.

    1. Will there be any lag using Leanback?
    2. Will Leanback be the default homescreen?
    3. Will Leanback be compatible with Alexa voice commands?
    4. When I press 'Home' will it quickly jump to Amazon's home screen then to Leanback?

Thanks so much. My apologies, I know this is a lot.

    Android TV as bluetooth speaker.

My TCl TV has android 9 built-in. I tried using it as bluetooth speaker but it didn't work. Is there any way to use TV as bluetooth speaker? I know I can cast music but I want an offline solution.

Which Android TV box supports .avi?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 11:58 PM PDT

I am in the market for an Android TV box that can play my movies from USB - all in the .avi and .mkv formats. Also if it doesn't natively support it - can I just download VLC player on the box and they will play? I have no idea how Android TV boxes work - can you just install any app on them? I'm so lost right now but thanks in advance guys.

1.5 speed Netflix on Android tv

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 01:50 PM PDT

I recently got an smart TV running Android OS. It has Netflix pre built and it works fine. I'm one of those weirdos who like to watch TV at 1.5 speed. Don't judge there are literally dozens of us. I sideloaded the normal android Netflix and this lets me change the playback speed but the quality is noticeably worse than the normal android TV version. I also tried sideloading opera and going to the website, once again I can change the playback speed but noticeably worse quality.

Is there anyone else like me who want to watch Netflix on their android TV at 1.5 speed and has figured this out?

Peacock Premium free for three months for Android TV users. Is my Sony Bravia 49X800g which has Android IOS considered an Android TV?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:11 AM PDT

When Peacock TV says three months free for Android TV users does that mean any TV that runs the Android IOS ? I am curious if my Sony TV is included in this deal.

YouTube and Netflix, some videos only play sound

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 04:16 PM PDT

Hi, I have a TCL tv running Android tv, yesterday the TV did an update. Now some videos on Netflix and youtube only play audio with either a black or frozen screen. Tried restarting the tv, disconnecting the power and clearing the cache for youtube/netflix but this didn't resolve the issue. Any ideas?

OG MiBox (US/Walmart version, but not S) no sound from Disney+

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 05:25 PM PDT

We get virtually no sound from Disney+ on our MiBox. All other apps seem to work fine, and navigation around the ATV OS sounds come through fine.

I say "virtually" because if I turn the volume all the way up on my receiver (like to where it would damage speakers and hearing with normal sound) I can just *barely* make out the audio of whatever is playing on Disney+

Any clues?EDIT: Here's my relevant system equipment:Yamaha RX-A2020 a/v receiver3.1 speaker setup (LCR+sub)Panasonic TC-P65VT20 plasma 1080p... and the MiBox described in the title of this post, connected via HDMI to Yamaha. Yamaha is correctly set up as a 3.1 system right now, so any 5.x or 7.x or whatever sound that is sent (audio passthrough) from the MiBox to the Yamaha will be correctly played (it is in every other app, anyway.)

EDIT2: Finally solved this. It's been bugging me for A couple weeks. Turns out the problem was quite simple. I never use the mi box remote. Instead I use a universal remote. But somehow probably one of my children found the mi box remote and must have adjusted the volume of the me box down to zero. for some reason this affected Disney plus but not the other apps that I use. Simple solution thanks for the ideas anyway.

    Google Play Store Game Syncing

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 01:10 PM PDT

I have an 2017 Nvidia Shield and a new 2019 Nvidia Shield TV. I'm logged into the same Google account on both devices. Games like Pacman 265 progress is not syncing. Is there a way to force a sync so purchases and coins can be up to date on both devices? Thanks.
