What's the purpose of oppo and vivo phones? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:03 AM PDT Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus are all owned by one company, BBK Electronics. It's obvious most people prefer OnePlus phones. So why do they bother with oppo and vivo? [link] [comments] |

WhatsApp Animated Stickers for regular users Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:53 AM PDT Hi there it's my first time posting here. Ever since WhatsApp had the option to add custom stickers of your choice I've been making tons of my own stickers and it was a lot of fun. Recently WhatsApp introduced animated stickers but there isn't any third party app that lets you add your own Animated Stickers on WhatsApp so is there a way to do that without the use of coding or mod versions of Whatsapp? Thanks [link] [comments] |
What Android OS for my Google Nexus 6P? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 09:37 AM PDT I have Google Nexus 6P, which was produced by Huawei. It seems that I forgot the pattern for the login screen. The weird thing is, that I am quite sure that I have tried my password, but I just can't get access. I cannot imagine that the phone just died on this particular aspect, so I guess I must remember wrongly. Even though I have a working fingerprint, it asks for the swipe pattern. I have been running Copperhead OS on the phone, so I do not see a way to recover my pattern. Since I need to reinstall the OS, I would like to reinstall a - more or less - secure version. Copperhead OS has not been releasing security updates for quite a while now. I looked into
I am not quite sure what to do. Is there an OS that I missed, which OS can I use and what are the advantages/disadvantages of those OS? It seems to me that Lineage OS is my best shot, but I am not sure. PS: Not quite sure what https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/development/rom-pixel-experience-t3970525 is... Browser opens on its own with random sites (often spam). Tried several things that didn't work Posted: 24 Jul 2020 10:39 PM PDT I have an Honor 9 with Android 9. I started experiencing this with Chrome Dev. It happens not so often, like 2/3 times a day, and always when I turn on the phone after waking up in the morning. I tried clearing the cache, then clearing all data, then un installing Chrome dev. Nothing worked. I installed malwarebytes and avast, runned a full scan and found nothing. I searched in the app list for an unnamed app (I've red that suggestion from several posts) but there isn't anything. Until then I thought it was a chrome dev problem. I installed Firefox, setted it as the default browser, and this morning the same thing happened with firefox. What can I do? [link] [comments] |
Device Connectivity Notifications Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:02 AM PDT Whenever I connect a Bluetooth headset to Android 10 I have a permanent notification. Is there anyway to disable this as it is pointless clutter? Phone: Huuawei P20 Pro, EMUI 10 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:50 AM PDT Hi friends, This might seem like a dumb/weird question with a long post, but bear I am looking to buy a new phone, ideally a flagship from 2 years ago. I settled on the (exynos) Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and in looking for prices locally, realized that my local market (Israel/Occupied Palestinian Territories) is very monopolized and basically has 2 types of phone vendors: sellers selling at high prices and sellers selling for relatively low prices. The high price sellers are selling versions imported through the "Exclusive Importer"; basically the company Samsung has licensed here to import exclusively. The lesser priced ones are performing what is termed "parallel import" and selling the same phones at a cheaper price under, but with a twist; the retail package is sold opened and has had the charger replaced with a non-original one. I wondered why that is, and found out that that is to evade having to send chargers to be checked by the regulations the government puts, thus cutting their cost. I wondered how they are able to source their phones for $100-$200 dollars cheaper than the Exclusive Importer, and that led me down a rabbit hole that ended up on Aliexpress: legitimate sellers selling original phones for prices that matched what the price would be for the parallel importer without tax. So I started considering to buy from them directly, that way I can save myself another $75-$100 dollars by cutting the parallel importer middleman. However, these sellers have a trend. Many of the sellers selling these phones have this note, which leads me to believe that they have rooted the phone or done something else to it before sale. User reviews confirm that the phone is original and the seller is trusted, but this third party app seems shady to me. Why would the seller have to install such an app? I am planning to buy the phone, but to root it and install the normal Samsung OneUI 2.0 to it. That way, I have a phone cleared of whatever the seller has done to it, with stock Samsung UI experience Here are my questions:
My apologies if this seems dumb or unclear, I am new to this. I am open to answer any further questions you have, and any tips, knowledge, or advice is heavily appreciated. [link] [comments] |
from Galaxy s8 to OnePlus Nord Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:23 AM PDT Hi everyone, I have currently the galaxy S8 since 2017 and I am looking for a new phone. The OnePlus Nord looks like a nice device for its price. Do you think it is worth getting it, coming from the s8 ? Or should I keep my phone a little longer ? Thank you! P.S. : I am not sure if that's the right sub for my question, tell me if I should move it elsewhere. [link] [comments] |
[HELP] Completely stock Moto G5S plus "Start up failed" Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:22 AM PDT Hi guys, Today I woke up with myMoto G5Splus (completely stock & never unlocked bootloader) in bootloader mode showing the error "Start up failed: Your device didn't start up successfully. ecc", showing "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)" but not actually allowing me to flash anything. Fastboot can see it, ADB can't. No luck with LMSA or RSC Lite. No luck with any fastboot command. Here you can see fastboot getvar all output. From here I can see CID = 0xDEAD, which doesn't sound really reassuring. Any hint? Is my phone gone for good? [link] [comments] |

Getting clock with temperature widget back Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:52 AM PDT Sometime back my android clock widget on my home screen just disappeared by itself and I have been unsuccessful in finding it again in the widget selection and even though I can still see it in the theme center, applying the theme which has it (Hot Move) doesn't get me my clock back either. I've already tried restarting my device and I'm afraid it might be version problem as I'm still on Android 7.0 (my phone doesn't let me upgarde to anything more recent) :( Any ideas how I could get it back? Or alternatively, any apps that offer a similar widget with a link to google weather? Thanks a lot! [link] [comments] |

Tablet starts dying when it's on its charger. Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:37 AM PDT Hello! I have this Vizio tablet that came with my TV a couple years back, and I mainly use it as my alarm clock. It sits on its dock most of the time, and I only occasionally take it off to mess around with it. But sometimes I notice it not charging, like it's almost dead. I take it off its charger and put it back on and it starts charging again. Is this a defect of the charger? Or is the tablet preventing itself from charging when it doesn't need too. If so, should I take it off more often? [link] [comments] |
My recent apps button is not functioning, the script to pop up recent apps might be deleted. Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:34 AM PDT Hello, I have a malfunctioning (physical) recent apps button. It still definitely responds to touches, because I tried swapping the back button and the recent apps button's functions to each other. The (swapped) back function responded perfectly on the recent apps key, but the (swapped) recent apps button, which sits in place of the back button does not respond. It seems as though the command/script to pop up recent apps has been deleted or malfunctioned. Does anybody have any tips? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:34 AM PDT I have a pic set as my wallpaper that I've accidentally deleted. However if I open Nova and go to change the wallpaper, it's still seen there. Is there a cache somewhere that might have the image stored? It's a personal photo so I can't just download it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2020 11:17 AM PDT I have used CCleaner of my PCs for years and even now they push unnecessary fixes and upgrades that do not benefit the consumer in the least. The worst part about this duplicitiousness if that have to visit their upgrade page to upgrade where you are bombarded with ads for premium services. They now offer the option to download an anti-virus software during the normal and upgrades. They sold out. What are my alternatives? [link] [comments] |
Question about switching from one phone to another. Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:58 AM PDT I have an old s5 that used a larger sim size. Just got an s10 which my sim doesn't fit in to. The phone did come with a blank sim. I've contact my provider and asked them to send me out a micro sim. But I was just wondering. If I had my normal sim in my current phone and the micro sim in the new phone. Is there any way for me to just Transfer not only all of the stuff that's on the phone but also the stuff the SIM card holds? Or am I just being an idiot [link] [comments] |
Keyboard layout keeps changing on my phone Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:51 AM PDT As the title says, my layout keeps changing. It seems it mainly happens when opening a new tab in chrome. I've got an S9+ running android 10 I have my phone's device language set to english, but I would like my keyboard layout in Norwegian, as I am norwegian myself. I've gone ahead and disabled all other keyboards but norwegian in my settings, but it keeps switching to english(US) (only the UK version is installed, not the US, so it makes even less sense). Whenever I've googled it, I only find results for third party apps, but I would like to just use the standard layout. [link] [comments] |
Moto G Power takes better photos than Moto G Stylus? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT I know the Stylus has better camera specs on paper, but I've seen a few comments recently which said that the Power's photos look better than the Stylus's. I couldn't find any comparisons on YouTube. Has anybody here compared photos from the Power and Stylus? [link] [comments] |

2 android phones wont connect to wifi with new ISP, worked fine with old ISP Posted: 25 Jul 2020 09:34 AM PDT Hi, Both myself and my wife's phones worked fine with our previous ISP. We have moved to a place that our old ISP does not provide service to, so had to go with another ISP. All of our devices work fine when connected to WIFI except my wife's android phone (Sony Xperia X Compact) and my old Android phone (Moto G 4G running Lineage OS 14.1). When either of us try to connect either of these 2 devices to our WIFI, they connect for a couple of seconds, then disconnect. They go through the following steps and then constantly loop
Rinse, lather, repeat, they both keep doing this constantly. Both these devices work fine on other networks and worked with my old ISP, so the devices themselves are physically fine, and all the other devices in my home connect to the new ISP's router fine as well. Ive done the following to try to resolve the issue
None of these steps have worked, the only thing I haven't done is factory reset both devices which my wife isn't prepared to do with her device but I might do with mine. Are there any other steps that might resolve this before I pull my hair out ?. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
What type of applications are more likely to have issues with your Battery Saver? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 09:34 AM PDT I found out Google apps struggle uploading and doing stuff with battery saver on, they get stuck once in a while and drain my battery because it keeps trying to upload but it doesn't make any progress. I was looking for more details into what the battery saver does exactly (Like technical stuff), but I couldn't find anything. Instead, I'll rely on you guys, what kind of apps usually struggle with battery saver? In my experience, Battery Saver worked fine with anything before android 8, I now have android 8. This will allow me to take some guesses and stuff, pay closer attention to things. I believe generally uploading stuff will have issues with battery savers, but not downloading (maybe?). Youtube could potentially be affected by it too, but I only assume that because it consumes 6%-8% (but videos are heavy so well) My android version is 8, using an LG V20 h918. I guess some battery saving tips would be cool too but I feel like I know pretty much anything (the stickied post is very outdated). My battery doesn't run out that quick if I force close google photos, but more than 4 or 6 hours would be cooler (it would last for a lot more if I didn't use a bunch of social media in a short span of time) [link] [comments] |
