- Pixel 4 series got a very good price cut , starting at 499$ for the smaller one and 599$ for the xl. I know it's not a perfect phone by any means but it is a great deal for the price tbh.

| I received my Pixel Buds - My experience so far Posted: 30 Apr 2020 08:51 AM PDT I received the pixel buds yesterday and began playing with them when I got home from work. I'll detail my experiences below so far, and update as I continue to use them today. FYI, I'm using a Pixel 2 with the April security patch Unboxing & Setup As all of the reviews stated, this is a seamless process. Unbox, go into Bluetooth settings, pair new device, open the Pixel Buds case, and they paired within a second or two. Good job, Google! Pixel Bud App The app walks you through a brief tutorial about how to seat them in your ear, the features, using the touch features on the outside of the bud, etc. Was thorough, easy, and contained good information. Connecting to a Computer Again, this process was easy. Make sure the buds are in the case, go to Bluetooth settings on the computer, add a device, press and hold the little button on the case, and select the device. Speaker & Microphone Quality The ear bud tips form a pretty good seal in the ear physically, and the audio quality is pretty good. Like many others have said, the bass is a bit lacking, but aren't they always on ear buds? You're not going to put a banger on and get those deep lows, but everything still sounds great. If I wanted better audio quality I'd throw on my Sennheiser cans, not a pair of ear buds. I noticed a brief drop every once in awhile over the hour or so I was listening. Maybe half a second at a time. My wife and I called each other back and forth from inside the house with little background noise and our voices sounded extremely clear. It didn't sound distant or tinny like The Verge's review did. My father was impressed and told me that it didn't sound like I was on a pair of headphones at all, and that he wouldn't have had any idea if I didn't tell him. I haven't tried these outside with ambient car noise, etc. Will be one of my tests today. So this is where things get bad. I went on a 20 mile bike ride this morning. I fired up music via the Google Play Music app, and almost immediately the buds were dropping in and out. It got so bad at one point that I had silence on the buds for 2 nearly minutes of a song. It eventually started playing again, but with a lot of dropped bits. Most of the time it would cut in and out briefly, like a bad connection on Discord. I'm not sure if the bits in the stream were being dropped, or if the Bluetooth connection itself was disconnecting. I need to do some research and playing around with the app's settings. Will probably submit a bug report to Google. I fired up Play Music again at home, along with YouTube, and have not experienced the drops like I did on my bike ride. I will say, the comfort was pretty good during my 1.5 hour bike ride. My ears didn't get sore, even with a helmet and sunglasses on. I also didn't feel like they were going to fall out or have to adjust them during the duration of the ride. Charging The case charges great via wireless charging. TL;DR: Ease of use is great, call quality (audio playback and record) is great, comfort and fit are great. Had massive quality issues on a bike ride with the music stream dropping in and out, one time for about 2 minutes straight with no music playing. Will be following up with Google. Ask me any questions you may have! Updates If you take one bud out, music/playback from both buds stops. However, if you resume playing on one that is in your ear while another is out, the one that is out of your ear will not play. When you put the second one back in your ear there is a slight delay and you can hear it turn back on and resume playing. Pretty cool! Audio delay on my Surface Book 2 is nonexistent. My desktop is older and probably doesn't support Bluetooth 5. Used the buds while in the car. I had all of the windows down, AC vents blasting in my face, and driving 60. Called two different people. They said I sounded clear. They could definitely hear the wind noise, but it wasn't overpowering or garbling my voice. When I wasn't speaking they could still hear the wind. Overall, they were both pretty pleased with how I sounded. I wore these for a GoTo meeting today for work on my laptop, and I had two instances where I lost all audio for 1-2 minutes, then it came back. While I had audio, there were no hiccups, skips, etc. I ended up taking them off and going to my wired pixel buds. Will test further. [link] [comments] | ||

Works well after setting everything up. --- Browser --- DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser* (https://f-droid.org/app/com.duckduckgo.mobile.android) A browser which automatically blocks third party cookies and trackers and also shows them to you. Let's you create shortcuts at the home screen. Can not recommend it enough. Tor Browser* (https://f-droid.org/app/org.torproject.torbrowser) The Tor browser for android. I think I don't need to explain this one. (You have to activate "The Guardian Project" in F Droid to see this app). | The misleading pricing problem. Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:48 AM PDT So I have noticed a problem with smartphone advertising that is becoming worse and a bit more irritating over the last couple years. That is advertising the devices price after a trade in. Now that wouldn't be that big of a deal but it's becoming more and more misleading. The text that says with a trade in is getting smaller and more hidden, and the device they are assuming you will trade to get that advertised price is getting more and more absurd. The companies are starting to advertise the price with trade in as if it's a sale price. It would appear the device is on sale the way they cross out the normal price and show that trade in "sale price" Where the bigger problem starts to come in imo is the seemingly great deal that there advertising is something like trading in your galaxy s10+ for a s20, or trading your iPhone XS Max for a 11 pro max. That upgrade is almost pointless and is only something people who absolutely need to have the newest device for some reason. Now Samsung has done it here and there but I think the trade in programs should focus on giving people with older devices a better deal instead of aiming for people with last years device. I feel as though the companies now more than ever should be starting to release trying to target the yearly phone upgrade market is dying. They need to start targeting the 2-3 year old phone market. With the every increasing smartphone prices the seemingly good 200$ trade in they offer seems almost all but non existent when you get to the checkout and see that your total price is still over 1000$ even with your trade in. Especially when one considers that they can usually get around 100$ more if they were to sell that device on eBay, amazon, or swappa. And a large portion of people still keep their old devices as a hand me down. Other than the very small consumer base that is the smartphone enthusiasts almost no one upgrades every year. Or the very few other that choose to upgrade every year typically don't want to trade in their only 1 year old device, they upgrade to give someone else there perfectly fine and in good condition device. Many people look at it like well I paid 1000$ for it last year, I'd rather give it to one of my children or family members rather than trade it in for 450$. TLDR: the companies need to stop advertising their trade in deals like they are sale prices. Instead of crossing out 999 and putting 599, they need to put 999, or 599 with qualifying trade in. I know it might sound dumb to some people but everything down to the advertising affects the general end consumer, the more transparent and up front a company is with the consumer the better it is for the mass market.
