Android games that look very good and RUN very fast?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 05:37 AM PDT

I'm in awe of how game developers manage to optimize their game so much that it runs butter-smooth even on older devices. I think it's especially cool when the game is 3D with beautiful graphics.

One instance of this is Madfinger studio games: Shadowgun and Dead Trigger series. Looks gorgeous, and runs incredibly smoothly on my 2016 Galaxy J5.

Can you guys recommend any more such games that look very nice AND perform very well on older devices?

Pixel-art Incremental RPG Dungeoning - big early access update with new nav, new features, new dungeons (DEV)

Pixel-art Incremental RPG Dungeoning - big early access update with new nav, new features, new dungeons (DEV)

Dungeoning is back with a massive update to address feedback, current play-styles and new players. Background: it's a pixel-art fantasy incremental RPG I've been working on for a while, and it's in Early Access on Google Play.

    Go Dungeoning.

Last time I posted here, I got savaged, so let's get why that happened out there first:

    • It's a F2p game, so it's got evil stuff like IAPs and ads in it. This is true, but I designed it to have a ton of depth and fun for the free player and paying player alike and I tried to stay out of your face with the $ stuff. You can tell me if that's true after the initial pop-up which is totally in your face. The ads are never forced and opting into watching gives permanent benefits. If you hate that stuff— like in a guttural, deep-down sense— don't play and leave some "greedy dev" stuff here in the comments. If you don't care or only kinda care, there might be something to like here. If you give it more than a few minutes, I bet you'll like it (if RPG grind, incrementals and upgrades are up your alley).
    • The nav sucked. It did. I tried a Snapchat-esque thing that just didn't work. Everyone told me so— thanks for saying so here and on Discord. I fixed it. It's now "normal" and hopefully, intuitive— you tell me.
    • There was zilch for guidance— no tutorial or explanations. I put in a tiny tutorial to get you started and almost everything in the game tells you what it does if you tap its icon— check it out. The Wiki is also updated.
    • If you played in the Alpha and were turned off by the nav or roughly balanced early days— give it another go and let me know what you think.

    Fast forward to now:

You build up a party of now-unlimited numbers (5 active at a time). You develop each one, RPG-style. There's a deep loot system that changes every time you think you've got it down. There's 178 dungeons whose keys drop for every achievement in the game. There's Bosses with references to all sorts of fun stuff— but you have to be on the lookout. There's NPCs inspired by classics, my childhood nightmares, and TTCJRPGs.

    Deep Dungeons

And it's Idle (sort of). And it's designed to be really deep. And deepening. Want a quick time-waster? You might like it. Want something to really sink your teeth into? Let's go.

We're not stopping until this thing is a rabbit hole you want to go down forever. Lord Awful ruined everything— and he's not going to get away with it.

If you're still reading, here's the Early Access link to play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gunslingerstudios.dungeoning

Want to dig in before you try? Check out the site.

We have an active Discord where discussion, suggestions, gripes and 1st looks are all over the place: Discuss.

Looking for long form narrative puzzle games. (The Room, Another Lost Phone)

    Posted: 07 May 2020 10:38 AM PDT

So, my favorite game series for mobile is "The Room" series, but I also had a lot of fun with "Another Lost Phone: Laura's Story". What are your recommendations for more puzzle games that are more than just level after level?

How to get games/phone to recognise M100 controller button pushes?

    Posted: 06 May 2020 05:39 PM PDT

I purchased the M100 controller and paired it to my Pixel 3 XL but nothing I try to play with it is recognising the buttons. Even a gamepad testing app doesn't seem to recognise it. The management app ShootingPlus V3 picks it up but doesn't seem to be all that easy to configure the controller to play what I have in my device. I have some emulators and native Android games & was looking forwards to using a joypad with my phone to play classics in the way they were intended to be played. Has anyone else got this controller to function in general? How do you get it to work?

    Thanks

    Help remembering a game

    Posted: 07 May 2020 09:03 AM PDT

I saw it on playstore and some other article when I was searching for offline multiplayer games. I remember the screenshots having pixel-art type 2D game of tiny astronauts or some space suit wearing game characters going through different rooms trying to catch 'someone' I guess?? Please help! It could be played by 4-10 people if I remember correctly. I searched for that article but couldn't find it too

My right analog isn't working properly on Android!!

    Posted: 07 May 2020 05:57 AM PDT

I connected my Xbox 360 controller wireless to my Android 8.0 and the right analog stick is locked up, moving the camera infinitely in games. Here are the tests using gamepad test:

    test without touching any button

    test by pressing rt lt

test 2 pressing lt and rt: it seems that the rt and lt buttons are not working and when pressing it interferes with the right analog stick

Can someone please help me with this?

Basically, anything that easy to learn and I can mostly just turn my brain off for.

For the sake of some examples, I've recently been digging Archero, Minimal Dungeon RPG, and Solitaire: Decked Out.
