    Hello, it's the first time I'm posting here and I hope I don't break any rules.

    My grandma recently completely destroyed her phone's (Samsung J5) display, it was unresponsive to touch and most of it was black. Now the display is just all out black. She told me she used a liquid disinfectant to sanitize it (she is freaking out for this covid situation), but i think she either dropped it in some water or just poured way too much disinfectant over it.

    I've been trying for days to try and recover her phone's data since it is mostly intact from the inside (I opened it to make sure since I had the right screwdriver). The phone does turn on when I press the on/off button.

    She didn't have an external sd and no form of cloud back up (I don't normally live in my hometown so I'm not the one who takes care of this stuff).

    Of course, the phone wasn't rooted and nobody had any kind of back up on any computer. Is there a way to recover data that you know that could help me? Android file transfer on mac/pc is not an option since the phone's display is unresponsive to touch and completely black.

    My sole pain point about Android and NO ONE ever talks about it. Camera API and low framerates for video on 3rd party apps like Zoom/Skype/FB Video calls etc. What can be done?

    I'm in the market for a phone thats around the same specs as a OP8 Pro or S20+. My current phone is a S7. Apparently Samsung phones depreciate in price greatly within a few months. I havent bought a phone in like 4 years and i kinda forgot a bunch of stuff to consider when buying a phone. So for those of you who are very aware of the current smartphone market/pricing, when do you think I should buy either one of these phones in order to get the most out of my money? Do you predict any big price cuts because of COVID 19, or are these phones too new to get a big reduction in price? I'm just trying to save a few hundred bucks by not buying it at launch. Thanks

    Mototola Moto g7 play WiFi connection issues

    So I urgently needed a replacement smartphone and since the g7 Play was on sale on Argos for £99 (and also cuz I'm broke) I decided to get it. But not even 2 days into using it, it can't hold a stable WiFi connection for over 5 mins. Apparently it's a very common problem with the g7 range and I've done everything the websites have suggested us to do (forgetting network x 5, factory resetting x 10), but to no avail. I'm honestly no expert on Androids but after doing some reading some folks reckon it's down to the UK/EU variant being locked only to 2.4gHz WiFi networks, although the official Motorola website said it should be able to support both 2.4 and 5 gHz.

    So yeah I'm at the end of my wits rn tryna figure this out cuz data is still quite pricey. I'm figuring whether I could root my phone to " unlock" the 5 gHz option and if it's viable, I'd like to know what ROMs I should flash to achieve that. I'd be throughly grateful for anyone who could help or even share their experiences with this model, cuz there isn't much info abt this specific model online compared to the other g7 variants , heck even LineageOS doesn't support the g7 play, while supporting the rest of the g7's :( .

    Youtube notifications for things I am not subscribed to.

    I keep getting notifications for MSNBC (which I detest, and I am not subscribed to) and I want it to stop. I still want notifications for my subscriptions so I don't want to turn off notifications completely. Ideas?

    Using old whatsapp backups?

    I am a backup freak and have tons of backups dating a few years back. Some of them are full whatsapp backups with the db and the key etc.

    Can I somehow add these backups to my current active install without overwriting anything?

    Voicemail system

    It seems to me like the one area where Android is way behind for no reason is Voicemail. it doesn't list them, it doesn't have any UI, if you want to go to any specific one, you have to listen to and skip through every voice message until you get to it. This voicemail system seems straight out of the 90's land lines.

    Android x86 Root Error

    So I installed Android x86 9.02 and whenever I grant access to root it says "Android.permission.ACCESS_SUPERUSER not given access in manifest" and then the root features don't work.. any help?

    Importing pictures in apps makes them freeze and shut down

    Hello everyone, i have a samsung galaxy note 8. I've only noticed this problem last night. Every time i try to use ibis paint x or Adobe photoshop (free version) to import pictures both apps freeze and shut down. They manage to load the pictures some times but it is very rare. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong, please?

    Hello to everyone.

    I would like to play to ePES 2020 with my android phone (samsung note 3) and an old wii controller (it is not self powered and it hasnt any batteries) that I've bought some years ago. According with this site :

    I can use my old wii controller installing the siaxis application for Android and I did it. Also according with that website,I should also buy an OTG cable and I've already did that. Anyway a doubt has arisen : how can I recharge my mobile phone ? how does the mobile phone can recharge the battery if the controller is attached and powered directly by the battery and there isn't any other way to recharge it because the only and only usb port is taken by the controller itself ? in a very few time the battery will be discharged. Is there another kind of adapter to fix this problem ?

    Problems switching from 4G to 3G

    Evening everyone,

    I was hoping someone could help me with this problem I have (I hope this is the right sub)

    A friend of mine has a problem switching from 4G to 3G on her android phone and I have been trying to force the phone to do this but it does not seem to work. I have even gone the *#*#4636#*#* route (WCDMA only) and still no luck. Are there any other options that one could explore?

    It should be noted that the phone is not an original phone.

    Google play store keeps stopping even when i am not trying to enter the app!

    I deleted a few thumbnails files the other day (each was 1GB, and my device o ly uas 16GB storage total so i wanted to clean up some storage), and after they were deleted it kept showing that the play store was stopping evem when i wasnt using it, when i try to enter the app it loads a bit then gives the same error. I have tried to, restart, clear the cache and restart, clear data and restart, clear both and restart,i tried to force stop the app (after force stopping it keeps giving me pkay store has stopped errors), i even tried to disable the app amd re enable it, bit it won't work. My device is a Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 running all the latest updates. Please help i really don't want to use galaxy apps.

    Why is some text within my browser replaced with grey blocks?

    Hi,

    I've been taking screenshots of this problem when it occurs for the last several months. It's extremely frustrating. Here is a link to the pictures I have of this: https://ibb.co/album/mYbytv

    The last picture in the album is the most recent and most strange to me, everything except punctuation was censored, and everyone else in the comments seemed to be able to see it. I was not.

    I'm using the firefox browser. Yes it is updated and no I'm not going to "just use another browser". I want to fix the problem, or at least know why this is happening and if anyone else has had this problem. I couldn't find anything through google about this.

    LG g8 notification for audio path isn't scrollable

    When I connect my Bluetooth headphones, I have a fixed notification that will not scroll. I am unable to read notifications in landscape mode. Is there a way to turn it off or make it scrollable?

    Question about logged in device

    I have Nokia 7+ which is the only device I have and it is the only device I've logged in with my Google account. But when I go to Google account settings, check security tab and check latest devices my 7+ is the only device listed, but when I click on manage devices and select my 7+ which is the only device listed. At the bottom of the device page it says browsers that you are signed in and there is Firefox listed. And I'm not logged in with Firefox with this device. So what's this about?

    Firefox is my system default browser, but I've not logged in with it on my google account.

    Does anyone else have browser shown on the current device page?

    I was using Bigo App that has more than 100M downloads on play store and was thinking how can I make one myself as a hobby?

    The doubts are as follows

    1. What tech is used to stream so many live videos in parallel?

    2. How can I embed so many details on a video overlay like chat, coins, etc? Do I have to make my own video player? Is it all a WebView?

    3. Which framework will be the best to do make the webview. I don't want to roll too many updates for the app and thus need to keep everything outside of the *Native App* in a webview.

    A way to do all this will be very helpful. Thanks a lot :)
