(E.g. apps for astrophotography, wirelessly controlling cameras, sensor tools for experiments, ...) So I have them sorted in folders, ... to find them easily. But the use a lot of space on my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S8+). Is there a Android Launcher where I can uninstal an app in a way that the launcher makes a placeholder icon (maybe a grayed out icon of the uninstaled app) at the place where the app were, so that I easily can reinstall them with clicking on the placeholder? (I used NovaLauncherPrime, but sadly it can't do this. I asked them in a mail and they told me that the only maybe will implement this someday.) Does anyone of you know a Launcher (or maybe an app) which can do this? Thank you very much!!! [link] [comments] |
| Lenovo Smart Display demo unit - can I install full firmware Posted: 29 Apr 2020 03:31 AM PDT Hi, a while ago I bought a Smart Display from ebay but subsequently found it was just a demo unit that only runs a very basic demo. I was fully refunded but I still have the unit. Before I recycle it I wondered if its possible to install the full firmware. I've found the USB-c connector hidden under one of teh rubber feet and have connected it to my PC and installed ADB. I guess my questions are: Do you think the demo version is physically unable to be modified? Could I locate the full firmware (or a custome FW) and install that via Odin or some other method? Is there an app I could use to see what the specs of the device are e.g. internal memory etc ? Seems a shame to get rid of it since everything seems to work properly except not having the full firmware. Many thanks for any suggestions. [link] [comments] |

Since I can't post pictures here, I'll try to describe it as best as I can. Happened to me twice: my phone turns off when I accidentally press all buttons. Instead of rebooting as normal a picture of a white rabbit wearing a hat with a star on who's opening up the android sprite and messing up it's insides. It disappears after a while and the phone turns on as normal. I ran a virus scan each time it happened and it showed nothing. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 29 Apr 2020 01:00 PM PDT I'm trying to connect my PC with my Android phone using Microsoft's Your Phone application. Neither device seems to recognize the other for the final push. I have connected the two before, but they got disconnected about a month ago. When I try to reconnect, it gets 90% there (acc. to the PC app), then runs into a "We can't connect to your phone" error. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps on the troubleshooting page for this. Any ideas? Phone: LG Stylo 4 PC: Lenovo IdeaPad S340-15APITouch running Windows 10 Everything is up-to-date, and I've tried rebooting the PC. Can't reboot the phone manually (power button = broken). I have never setup a voicemail password because I can't be bothered so I just used visual voicemail. The problem now is that I got a phone call today and they left a voicemail. I listened to it on visual voicemail but it was a a voicemail from 4 months ago from the dentist and not from the person who had called me. Is this a problem with the app or a service issue? I was abroad for over a year in a country with censored Internet (PRC) and so I used a lesser known app called Couple to chat with my girlfriend, send pictures and everything, as it was not blocked. Problem is, this app is dead. There is no way to export chat history and data from the app itself, and the web version (which I thought of scraping or something) is not available anymore. But the data is there. I can scroll up and load earlier messages when I am in airplane mode. The only issue is, where is it on my phone? I've looked in the /data/ folders in both Internal and SD card. Is there a way to trace where an app uses storage space? My phone is not rooted unfortunately, although I did display the hidden files. | Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:13 PM PDT I was 95% going to buy a 2020 iPhone SE until I saw one or two reviews on it then I realized the battery on the SE sucks dong as well as the small screen. If they would've removed 95% of the bezel to show more screen then I might've gotten it even with the crappy battery life. I probably would've spent a lot more money than I needed to if I went with an iPhone (smart watch, battery case, some other huge quality of life shit that Apple would charge up the ass, etc.) With that said I still might switch to an iPhone but I might take gander at the Pixel 4A. It should come out soon right? Could Google make some last minute changes and make it more enticing to get a Pixel 4A rather than an iPhone SE? If I do choose Apple/phone the biggest thing I'd miss is freely moving files from my PC to my phone and vice versa. Hope there is a work around for this. [link] [comments] |

| Do fake Nillkin phone cases exist? Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:36 AM PDT I bought a Nillkin CamShield Pro case for my Galaxy s20 Ultra. It came from a seller claiming to ship from the UK but their business is set to China, anyways it came in a bubble wrap packet without the original box. The slider works fine but it seems very plasticy for a phone case. The material is hard and not flexible at all, which might be what Nillkin cases are like, I've never bought one before but I dislike it and expected more. Without the original packaging of course, I can't verify its legitimacy as that's meant to have a code of legitimacy on it. So do fakes exist? Can anyone verify just how flexible the case should be? I'm just skeptical it convienently came without the original box and they avoided using the Nillkin name in their listing. [link] [comments] |

It only locks my phone when i tap that lock even though its set up to lock immediadely after screen times out or i press the power button. This is obviously a huge security concern. | Deleted work profile and can't add it back Posted: 29 Apr 2020 10:32 AM PDT Hello all. I used the work profile on my samsung galaxy s8 (knox3.2.1) for a few years. It had a briefcase icon, contained all the apps I needed for work, and could easily be turned on an off so I could separate myself outside business hours. I recently accidentally deleted it and can't seem to add it back. When I try to add it back now it groups it with the secure folder. I realize this is essentially the same thing but I have personal documents I want to keep separate from my work profile. Additionally, I was unable to get a work profile version of the google play store. Instead, my work account was associated with my personal account google play store.
