Green screen when playing videos or GIF's

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:43 AM PDT

    Hey there

Basically the title says it all. When i try to play a video on YouTube, Reddit, Instagram or elsewhere my phone just shows me a green screen. Sometimes when I reload the video it works again.

Is there any way to solve this Problem? Or is my phone just outdated and the GPU cant handle it anymore?

    I have a Huaweii honor 8 (about 3 1/2 years old)

    Thanks for all help

Messages from me have been deleted on Android device notification?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:43 AM PDT

I just received a text from a relative saying that they received 3 notifications in a row on their Android device saying that a message from me had been deleted.

Neither of us deleted anything. Is this a quirk on my end or theirs? Was I hacked somehow or something?

Which mid-high end android phone has the easiest battery replacement?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:38 AM PDT

I like to replace my battery after a year or so. However, these days it's getting difficult to do. Which models are the easiest to change? Strangely, this has become a big selling point for me.

    Change voice in Google Books?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 08:36 AM PDT

I've changed the default voice to "Voice 5" in main phone settings (English, U.S.), have toggled everything on, rebooted, etc., but the read-aloud voice in Google Books never budges. What am I missing?

    Phone keeps buzzing (Samsung health)

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:56 AM PDT

(SM-G975U) My phone keeps buzzing out of the blue. Nothing from any app or anything. I have narrowed it down to my Samsung health app "updating" for a split second. If it were a true update it would say updating for about 10 or so seconds but it only stays for a about half a second. I don't want to block notifications but I have for the time being.

    How do I stop this?

Looking to replicate time/weather/battery/alarm widget after changing phones

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 05:55 AM PDT

I just upgraded from a Motorola G6 (Android 9) to a OnePlus 6T (Android 10). On my Motorola, I had a widget called "Time and Weather" that I really liked, but I can't seem to find or replicate it on my new phone. It had all the following in a 2x2 widget:

    - Digital Clock + date

    - Current weather (just temp and sunny/cloudy/precip icon, with a forecast that would occasionally cycle briefly into the ring)

    - Ring representing battery charge

Tapping on the clock would take you to your alarms or clock settings. Tapping on the weather would take you to a quick 5-day and hourly forecast snapshot.

I guess this was a Motorola thing or was cooked into the older version of Android I was using. But I can't find a 2x2 widget that rolls up nearly this much stuff so neatly. Any recos?

Samsung A71 can't download Samsung Pay app

    Posted: 24 Apr 2020 08:01 PM PDT

I just got my A71 about a week ago. Today I went to add my card to Samsung Pay, but found out i didn't have the app already installed. I went to the play store to download it, and it tells me "your device isn't compatible with this version". I just bought this phone brand new a week ago and it is up to date on software updates/patches, so anyone know what's up? I know the phone has NFC and mobile pay ability, but it's kinda hard without the app. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

    Notifications Issue

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 11:51 AM PDT

For the past several months I have been dealing with an infuriating issue around notifications. I want to say the issue started when I bought the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, but I have confirmed the issue exists on multiple devices. Sporadically, I don't receive notifications from apps on my phone. I have gone through all the battery settings, DND settings, everything, to no avail. Some messages come through and some don't. I've reset all my accounts to eliminate the possibility of a rogue device being logged in and have 2fa enabled on pretty much everything anyway. More recently, I started testing with other devices, including my old Essential PH-1 and a OnePlus 6T, with the same results. Currently, discord is one that is really sporadic and something I've only recently started caring about (I've had it installed for a while with notifications turned off, but have started using it more to communicate with vendors/services I use). I would say I receive about 25% of messages sent to me or posted in channels and the rest result in no notification. So at this stage, I have only one possible conclusion I haven't explored and I'm curious if this is even possible. Could it be an issue with my Google account? I use an older Google G Suite free account, which I know shouldn't be an issue. My wife has an account under the same and doesn't have notification issues. But I'm wondering if there could be some kind of corruption with Firebase Cloud Messaging and my account? It's the only thing I can think of at this stage. I'm going to perform an entirely unscientific test of this by logging into yet another phone (old motorola) with a simple Google account and then testing out notifications. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on what could be going on here, I'm all eyes.

Google Play Store not downloading anything along with other WiFi issues

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:43 AM PDT

So the issue I'm having is as follows:

1- I cannot download anything from the Google Play Store, everything is stuck on waiting for download, and doesn't start unless I launch a VPN.

2- Some websites and Social Media apps do not load up properly, especially Instagram.

3- To send any type of message I need to close the connection and start it again.

This issue doesn't occur with any other device I have, the device I'm having this issue on is the Oppo F11 which runs Android 10.

I've only been having this issue since updating to Android 10 and starting to use a VPN, I deleted all VPN apps on my phone, cleared Chrome's data and cache to try and flush the DNS, tried connecting to another DNS entirely (which fixed a few problems but not the Instagram or Play Store issue), tried using a proxy, cleared my device settings, restarted countless times and cleared Play Store and Play Services data twice, followed by reboots.

But non of that helped and I'm currently lost on what to do, and don't want to opt for a Factory Reset.

    What should I do?

    Wallpaper cropping forced to square

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:39 AM PDT

    Hello!

I have a Moto z4 on Verizon. I haven't tried changing my wallpaper in a while, so I'm not sure if this is a bug associated with the 4/14/2020 update to Android 10, or if it's specific to me. Whenever I attempt to change my wallpaper, after selecting the picture, I am prompted to crop is. In this cropping menu, however, I am unable to change the aspect ratio of the selection box. I have tried grabbing the corners and using the aspect ratio button on the bottom left to no success. I have used multiple different methods to set my wallpaper (from settings, by going to a picture first, and by holding down on my home screen), and none of them produce different results.

Any help I could get on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

    How to disable panic mode?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 11:18 AM PDT

My wife has a samsung A10 and accidentally called the emergency number 2 or 3 times. Going through the settings I found the reason for this, there is a setting named "Panic Mode" which will automatically call the emergency number if you press the power button 3 times. The problem now is that this option cannot be disabled (no button to disable it). Is there any way to forcefully disable this setting ?

So, my phone's done for, right?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:56 AM PDT

Starting 2 days ago, my LGV20 seems to have given up on life. It heats up rapidly as if it wants to catch fire, the system ui, process system, and home keep crashing, I can't run ANYTHING, trying to clear the cache causes the phone to restart, hell, doing anything makes it restart.

While typing this posy and after, my phone has decided to cut on and off with zero input from me.

Screenshot home+vol down key doesn't work can't find how to change shortcut

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 07:04 AM PDT

After the Android 10 update on Galaxy A50 volume down and home key no longer take a screenshot. Screenswipe still works but is uncomftable and inconsistent to use it, also I hate it. Can't find anywhere in the settings how to change the shortcut to screenshot. I can only toggle on/off the screen swipe. Am I missing something? Searched google, nothing. When I press vol down and home key the power off menue comes up. There is a side key options but only controlls single and double tap options. Went into settings typed in search all types of screenshot, hotkey and shortcut no sign of anything remotely close to what I need. Sorry if it is a basic issue or is super obvious, but i've spent 3 hours on this with no effect. I'm close to the point of throwing my phone at the wall and smasing it to pieces. Please help if you can. Thanks!

Persistent audio static, distortion/cutting out at low volume, audio leaks at zero volume

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:46 AM PDT

Overnight my samsung galaxy s9 has developed an interesting audio issue i cant find an answer for online so far.

I have a persistent audio static while playing audio at any volume. The static itself is quiet and does not change in relation to media volume. It also cuts out at very low decibels, and plays distorted, choppy audio. It sounds like it wont play sounds below a certain decibel, as louder noises come through fine even at minimum volume.

Additionally, and super weird, my audio leaks through when i set the volume to zero. Its quiet and super distorted, but strangely it is more consistent than being set to minimum volume. As in, certain audio (quiet stuff) pops in and out badly at low volume, but at zero volume, i just hear a consistent, super quiet, low quality version of the audio.

This is the case both on peripherals and with the phone speakers, consistent on all apps, though the static differs slightly depending on the speaker. Phone speaker pops worse at low volume. Earbuds leak more clear audio when at zero volume. Over ear headphones make it hard to hear the static but louder audio sounds overall worse.

I noticed last night since i listen to soft music and asmr while studying daily, and it was immediately apparent that something changed.

No recent updates or software installations. Running Android 10, up to date as of march 29th. Galaxy S9. Issue happened overnight. Any idea what causes this issue? I imagine it has to be software related if it happens on speakers and headphones alike. But i have no recent changes to my phone.

    Note 8 N950U1 stuck on 7.1.1 & Odin won't flash - Suggestions?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:38 AM PDT

Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - N950U1 Product code: VZM Baseband version: N950USQU3BRA5 Android version: 7.1.1 Samsung Experience version: 8.5

I bought refurbished on Ebay years ago. Unlocked and I use it on T-mobile. Hasn't received an update in ages and now it's effecting connectivity with other devices. I even bought a Verizon SIM to see if that would initiate the update but it still says I have the latest installed (even after a couple factory resets).

Last two days I've been trying to flash latest update with Odin, but it always fails with the message "All threads completed. [Succeed 0/Fail 1]". I've been using the Verizon variants of the N950U1 firmware from SamMobile

Some things I'm keeping account of/trying: -using various Odin builds (including patched) -making sure Smart Switch processes aren't running on computer -Waiting until the blue COM box shows in Odin -Using firmware from SamMobile -Using instructions for flashing from SamMobile

If you've got suggestions on how to fix, please share. Thanks!

Android phone still saying it is corrupted after reset

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 10:06 AM PDT

About a week ago my phone (Sony Xperia XZ Premium) started saying it was corrupted when I restarted it. Today I reset it to factory settings, however it is still saying it is corrupted, even with everything reset. I have performed a few security checks, including antimalware scans and nothing has popped up, there is no noticeable issues with the phone, just a bit worrying when your phone says it is corrupt.

Anyone else had a problem like this?

Can you only root phones that have Snapdragon chips in them? Why? Architecture? Different coding?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 06:08 AM PDT

Just curious about this. I recently watched a video (https://youtu.be/IGmNT3wuYGg) and the guy mentions that only Snapdragon equipped phones can be rooted. I haven't done a lot of rooting, but I know how to do it for the most part.

I'm also hoping to know if this is true so that if I or my parents have to buy a budget phone, I know to check the CPU whether it's Snapdragon or not. (I usually go for a mid range, and I recommend a budget or close to mid range phone for them whenever our phones reach almost the end of their life spans, but there are times that relatives give us phones, even if we have functioning ones, ultimately, I end up with a second phone, that I can mess around with.)

    Thanks in advance :)
