| What are r/Android's thoughts about Windows 10X? Posted: 02 Apr 2020 03:54 PM PDT I personally think that Windows 10X is what we all hoped Android would eventually evolve to. For some time now, people have wanted Google to implement an OS-wide desktop mode once docked to a big screen, merging both mobile and desktop experiences. I see Windows 10X as Microsoft's interpretation of this endgame, and I am beyond excited to see what manufacturers come up with as a result of this innovation. I think that Google had a chance to do this at least two years ago. They added desktop modes to developer betas but removed them before public release. I really don't know why they keep putting desktop mode on ice when ironically enough, they have more than enough dignity to launch and then kill various messaging apps. So, what do you guys think? Edit: I forgot to add this but my idea of an endgame for Android is the stock OS supporting the modern equivalent to the Motorola Lapdock. Imagine kids being able to do homework on their phones like this. [link] [comments] | ||
| First RDNA AMDxSamsung GPU benchmark (Destroy Adreno 650) Posted: 02 Apr 2020 09:48 AM PDT It is said that it is being tested with the Samsung Exynos combination. The target performance of the current development is said to be Apple's next-generation A14. Added (Performance target can be increased according to the development schedule.) Off-screen standard Manhattan 3.1 score 181.8 frames (Snapdragon 865 /Adreno 650 -> 87 fps) Aztec Normal 138.25 Frame (Snapdragon 865/Adreno 650 -> 54 fps ) Aztec High 58 Frame (Snapdragon 865/Adreno 650 -> 20 fps) It is said that Samsung and AMD are currently trying to optimize. In particular, it is said that there is a problem with performance in the power consumption section, so it is difficult to tune, but fortunately, the AMD side said that Samsung is proactive in optimizing the chip, so there is no big problem. the Exynos 1000 will be build on 5 nm 4 x semi custom unannounced A78 (10% more powerful than reference design) 4 X unannounced stock A65 source -> iceuniverse [link] [comments] | ||

| Old phone (LG G7) vs new phone (Samsung Galaxy S10 5G) bullet points/mini review Posted: 02 Apr 2020 06:55 PM PDT So yeah. After only 13 months of using LG G7 ThinQ, I switched to Samsung Galaxy S10 5G. Why, you may ask, and the aswer is simple; I have been using LG phones for 5 years from LG G Spirit aka budget G4 to budget G5 (the SD670 model) to G6 finally G7. I have loved every single one of them and I still do but I needed a breath of fresh air. The G7 also felt bit lackluster when it comes to RAM management and I had sometimes bit of a trouble with typing with so "small" screen and seeked bit larger screen too. I am actually writing this with my G7 and I am having bit more trouble than normal. So when I got to shopping for a new phone I wanted phone with oled screen and in-screen fingerprint scanner and 3,5mm audio jack. I went to look for LG V40 honestly, but it wasn't sold in my country anymore as LG phones are really hard to get in northern Europe and anything newer wasn't sold either. The V50 never arrived and G8x was sold only in one place for whopping 950€, so I skipped. Then I saw Samsung Galaxy S10 5G for 799€ and saw good reviews and thought that I could give it a shot. After all it had all of the things I hoped for. So I wanted to do quick comparison after 20 days: What G7 does better in my opinion: -Screen has better white balance, S10 5G's screen looks yellow-ish -Flat screen, no accidental presses while watching a video -Software is better, but older version, but I still prefer it because mire customization and the phone feels more like home than flashy mall -Price was 50% cheaper when I bought it and it wasn't discounted -Quad DAC -I feel more safe with MIL-STD-810G than without it -Design. It feels better and safer in hand -Fingerprint scanner is faster and more reliable -Better with AoD management and detecting when phone is in a pocket What S10 5G does better in my opinion: -Cameras are way better at least in dimm areas -screen is OLED but has worse whites. So I give plus to both because why not. -Included virus scanner even though it is McAfee aka McJustDon'tUseIt -Fast charging is actually fast compared to other Samsung models or QuickCharge 3.0 -Bigger screen helps with typing experience -Always-on display is more visible in the sunlight -Better internet speeds, but I changed operators less than week after getting the phone so it probably has more effect -Face unlock is even bit too fast -Newer android so dark mode is included -More RAM and internal memory -2 device Bluetooth pairing and playing audio at the same time So, my thoughts are quite mixed. On the first hand I need to get used to curved edges and software that I don't prefer before judging completely. On the other hand though I feel tempted to switch back, but I won't simply because more ram makes listeming to music without tidal crashing way more enjoyable experience. But I am kinda thinking about selling this phone to someone amd getting G8x or next phone that is coming from LG's flagship models. See, I am a tech nerd, I like my phones to be top end phones when I get them even though I'm not needing to get best specs out there. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed. | Posted: 02 Apr 2020 06:37 PM PDT a few years back, my family used mostly apple products, like iPhones, ipads and so on. I got an iPod touch at the age of 3 as my first electronic device, i was happy with it for years, many things happened to it during its life, i once puked on it, My brother locked himself out of his own iPod with the parantal lock thing, and so on. One day, mum got herself a Samsung galaxy tab 3, me and my brother always wanted to use it and we used to fight about it a lot, one christmas we got our own brand new Samsung Galaxy tab 3s loaded with games, we used it more than our iPods, they also went through a lot, they were dropped, banged and smacked, but stood strong for many years, when i was bored and put packaging tape on my iPod the LCD broke, i mean seriously??? The tab 3 went through the most abuse yet it still stood strong for a few more years. a few years later, roughly 2015 or 2016 things started to go downhill, The tab 3 started coming up with all sorts of different problems, first, the power key died, whenever my battery went flat i had a hard time turning it back on, i later found a trick as a work around, then when mum put this app called "screen time" on it the app glitched and didnt allow me to open ANY app until around 2pm, i still managed to play music on it though, then the tablet started to completely break down, it was slower then ever, screen time app gave me an even harder time and me nor mum could figure out whats going on, then the screen shattered, mum decided the shattered screen is a danger to my baby brother, so it was put away and i never heard from it. but throuout those years i slowly made the transition onto the Android team, and by that time i was a full on Android fan, i hated apple products and only used them when i had no other choice, i was destined to use samsung, i then changed my nickname to The Android Kid, my gaming profiles (exept for roblox) and some social accounts went from my real name or Watermelon136 to AndroidFan2008. Theres no way i will ever turn back from android, i found android superior to apple in every way, things were more manageable and easy, i could download a n app to do what i want to do without needing to jailbreak, i didnt need a computer to do stuff as simple as moving photos and videos, because i could insert a memory card and store everything on there, i could download music from any source onto my device and play them on the music app, and so on. my family made the transition to android too. mum got a galaxy s4 then upgrading to the s5, then the note 5 and now she has the note 10 or something. her old s5 was handed to my brother before he got an oppo and the s5 was given to our stepfather, we all made the switch. And thats the stoy on how i made the switch from being a family of apple users to what we are now, a family of android users, with me being the biggest Android Fanatic [link] [comments] | ||
