My Dad is starting dialysis this week, and would like to get him a tablet for streaming for those 3hr plus sessions. 3 Times a week. I also think I need something light for him. Above 8 inches since his eye sight isn't the greatest. Used us fine by me. I don't want to spend to much because he might lose it. Or it might get stolen when he falls asleep. Some of the one star ratings were from users who had defaulted on their payments and the lending company who owned the app was able to obtain phone numbers and get in touch with friends and relatives of the defaulters to get them to repay their loans. The app owners access to the contacts of friends and family could only have been possible because the app requested and was granted access to the phone contacts. This made me ponder the implications of granting that permission. Does it mean that owners of apps that request contacts permissions have my entire phonebook at their disposal? [link] [comments] |

It makes me a little worried about the reliability of the software. The data in Google Contacts is correct and the data on my Samsung phone is outdated. | Posted: 11 Mar 2020 10:41 AM PDT My phone screen is doesn't register touches (the initializer must have broken or something.) But I'd like to see if I can access it to get files off it. I can't access it without unlocking it though, and with the unresponsive screen, I can't unlock it either. I purchased an OTG type c - USB cable but it doesn't seem to do anything if I plug a mouse or keyboard in because the phone is at the initial lock screen (like after rebooting the phone.) Does anyone know if there is a solution to unlocking phone where the screen is busted like this since I can't enter in the key code? It is an LG v20 for reference. [link] [comments] |

| Google play system update not installing correctly. Posted: 11 Mar 2020 09:48 AM PDT I have a Galaxy A51 SM-A515F (TPA) that keeps saying that a 163kb update is available. I install and reboot and... Nothing. It still shows up. Now this is preventing me from installing the March security update. Sometimes it "installs" then says error. Try again later. I tried clearing the cache and data from Google play, Google play services, Google play games. No change. The device is on the Dec 2019 patch with android 10. Is there a solution to this? Ever since then, my Do Not Disturb setting does not turn off in the morning like it's supposed to. I have a schedule setup so it turns on at 11PM and turns off at 7AM and it has always worked but no longer does. I now have a notification that says: Do not disturb is turned on Has anyone else run into this and know if there's some way to fix the problem? I tried turning off the schedule and turning it back on but that didn't seem to help. I tried deleting the schedule and recreating it just now so we'll see what happens tomorrow but wondering if this has come up before. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

I turned off Google Locatio Acuracy and completely lost any navigation. I turned it back on and have the inacurte network based loction. So I was wondering if it is possible to put another ROM, stock Android or custom, on it and how I would go about it. Everytime I try to download them it just hangs on download and doesn't download. It also never sends any images I have. Why is it doing this? Posted: 11 Mar 2020 07:00 AM PDT Hi guys, I'm currently using modified version of this Android Equalizer Project in order to open an audio file in the external storage and then use the equalizer to boost and reduce certain frequencies. It now works as intended, but I want to save the "edited" audio file but neither the equalizer nor the MediaPlayer objects have ways to save the file they're playing. MediaRecorder might be an option but it will have to get it from the mic, and it would introduce noise, or not record at all if the user has a headset connected. I have seen Playback Capture but I'm not sure if it will work on devices running on older Android Devices. Any leads will be very much appreciated. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

| Volume mute glitch (Android 10: February 2020, Pixel 2: Walleye) Posted: 11 Mar 2020 06:24 AM PDT My phone just refuses to play audio at volume level 1. Level 0 would mute the phone, volume 2 would play audio, but switching to volume 1 would mute the phone. I tried playing with the audio settings and restarting the phone, but nothing seems to be working. I tried this with Bluetooth headphones, and I get the same result. Haven't made any big changes/updates to my phone for about a month now. Here's something interesting though: when I switch from volume 1 to volume 2, I can hear the audio being played at volume 1 for a split second before the audio level changes. Anyone else having this problem, or does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this? Any idea/question would be really helpful. This has been going on for a few days now (maybe longer?
