Posted: 26 Mar 2020 10:25 AM PDT I'm not sure if this is the correct subreddit to ask this question but I wasn't sure which other one I should go to. So I powered my phone off and can't seem to turn it back on. The screen remains black but the LED indicator is on. For a brief second the LED indicator was blue and then it was red for at least 10 minutes but now it's green and has been for a little bit now. I'm not sure what this means or how to get my phone screen back on. I'm gonna give some details on what might have caused this in case it helps anyone discover what might be wrong with my phone and what I can do to fix it. I've been having problems with my phone battery for a few weeks now so I bought one of those replacement battery kits on Amazon. I attempted to replace my battery today but ended up giving up on it because I couldn't undo the last screw to take off the midframe of the phone. The kit came with a plastic guitar pick that you use to detach the adhesive of the phone and I'm afraid that what messed my phone up was when I was undoing the adhesive around the midframe which is where the motherboard is. I wasn't being very careful when going around the midframe with the guitar pick so I might have did something to the motherboard. I couldn't check to see if everything looked alright since I couldn't get the midframe off. I've had my phone plugged into the charger for a while now in case the battery was dead. I've tried holding down the power button and the volume button at the same time to turn the screen on and it hasn't worked so far. I'm not sure what to do now. If I did mess up the motherboard when trying to get the midframe off, is there anyway to fix it? Would a professional be able to get the screen working again? I was planning on getting a new phone sometime soon anyways but like an idiot I don't have anything on the phone backed up and I don't want to lose any of it so I would greatly appreciate it if there is anything I could do to get my screen working again. | Nokia 7.1 won't boot after security update patch Posted: 26 Mar 2020 01:56 PM PDT My phone (Nokia 7.1, Android 10) downloaded a Google Security Patch update over night and asked me to reboot the system for installing the patch. But after the reboot, it said that the system is corrupted and the phone needs a factory reset. I don't want to lose the data on the phone. I can get the phone into Download mode and communicate to it via fastboot and I tried to use adb to sideload the original Android 10 image (29ad19....zip, which is build 4_08D), but it won't let me install it because the build timestamp is older than my current system's build timestamp and it refuses to let me downgrade. I tried re-installing the latest security patch (4_08F) from here via adb but the system says that this patch was meant for 4_08E not 4_08F. This is confusing because if the system had trouble installing this patch in the morning, it should have stuck with 4_08E, right? Are there newer updates for Nokia 7.1 that I've not found which I should be trying to install? [link] [comments] |

I've tried restarting and then manually searching for an update with no joy. I also tried updating after clearing the Google Services Framework cache and retrying to manual update, still no joy. The phone needs an update as the last one was 1.5 years ago and searching on the Samsung website shows there are updates available. | One Plus 6t screen shattered/black screen recovery. Posted: 26 Mar 2020 01:20 PM PDT My One Plus 6t's screen is shattered and completely black. I cannot tell if the digitizer is working, but doubt it as the metal frame is slightly bent. Pressing or holding the power button does nothing as far as I can tell. I thought the phone was completely dead until I connected it to my Windows 10 PC, via it's USB charging cable, and got a vibration from the phone and a notification from Windows. Upon further inspection, I noticed that moving the physical alert slider yields the default vibrations for switching between "Silent" "Vibrate" and "Ring". This gives me hope that the phone is still functional aside from the screen being broken. Windows is detecting the phone as a CD drive at the moment (presumably because I cannot unlock the phone), and gives me an "application not found" error when attempting to access the "CD drive". My main goal is to use an android mirroring software (ApowerMirror is the one I chose) to hopefully gain access to the lock screen via my PC. However, my USB debugging feature is not turned on, as Apower keeps asking me to turn it on. I obviously cannot turn it on normally because I cannot see what is on the screen. Also, I do not have an OTG Usb cable to use, and even if I did, it would be very difficult to navigate as I cannot see anything on my phone screen. I would really like to get into my phone so any suggestions would be great! If there is any type of Virtual OTG software for PC that would be awesome, but if getting an OTG cable is the only solution, I will buy one. Thank you! Edit: changed wording [link] [comments] |

I don't have this caller ID option in the Google phone app. Pissing me off. Reddit won't load so I can browse, Gmail won't let me send emails or refresh to get new emails, and Google classroom won't even let me in anymore because it says I need an admin. | How often do you upgrade your device? Posted: 26 Mar 2020 11:57 AM PDT I owned my first phone that I had paid fully myself in 2012. This was an s2 that I owned for about 2 years. The phones 712mb or ram became constantly at 100% use and I upgraded to a Note 3 in 2014. I used this phone for 3 years, on its knees having become a battery destroyer (batteries would bloat). I held out and bought the phone I have now, the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017. So I've owned this phone about 2 years and a half but its now slowly degrading in battery charge cycles. So Im getting a s20 Ultra in May. Seems I upgrade between every 2-3 years but I know others refresh yearly or even somehow go 4-6 years without upgrading their phone. So how often do you upgrade and what are the reasons behind it? I usually upgrade when performance and battery life becomes so bad its frustrating to use. [link] [comments] |

| S8+ camera no longer opens after security update Posted: 26 Mar 2020 11:21 AM PDT I have an S8+ unlocked on Sprint, SM-G55U1. I put off the March security update until a couple of days ago. After I did the update, the camera does not function anymore. I get the "You cannot use more than one application that uses Camera at the same time. Camera will close." popup. If I try to use the flashlight, I get "Can't turn on flashlight because the light is being used by another app." popup. Other apps that use the camera give me various error messages and black screens. I tried all of the recommended troubleshooting online from powering off and on, clearing the camera cache and memory, clearing the overall phone cache, disabling camera permissions across all apps and system apps, attempting to use the camera app in safe mode, power off and power on, and finally a factory reset. When the factory reset downloads the latest firmware and security updates, the camera still gives me the same error message. Is there anything else I can do to revive the phone and camera other than wait to see if a further update restores camera functionality? Or is it time to look into a new phone. Thanks for any help. We forgot the pin and there was no Google Account so I decided to hard reset it obviously. Did the obvious Recovery Mode -> Wipe Data/ Factory Reset -> Yes. After restarting, this f*cker still asks for pin!! The nerve on with these phones. Anyone know a way around these!? And everything synced up perfectly. My Contacts. My pictures. Etc. But my notes are all gone. Tried to the Synchronise my Samsung Notes from the Samsung cloud menu (just like I did with my cloud photos and contacts). But they are still (and are the only ones that are gone. Is there anything I am doing wrong? Edit: - My deletion because of inactivity on the Samsung cloud would be at the end of April. - Tried the ''unsync and sync again'' does not work. - Did not mention any file sizes under the Notes tab in Cloud. Until I made a new note (which is now mentioning 3KB) - I'm very sure I synced it with cloud before I got rid of my Samsung phone last year. [link] [comments] |

If my home screen was out of room it would bump over to the next screen. That stopped happening at some point. I now have to go into my apps list, long press the app and choose add to home.
