Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:38 AM PST I had an idea for a IOT project where I use an old android device to monitor if its charging. If it stops charging I would want it to send out a notification that power is out in the house. I am looking at an IOT sim card, if power is out so is the router so I can't use that. They are very cheap but charge like .07 cents by the megabyte. Is there anyway to disable ALL Data even system services but allow a single app through? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Feb 2020 12:50 PM PST Might be paranoia, but I'm worried that a forensic analysis by someone malicious could reveal details such as my bank account data or my personal files. How safe is FBE encryption on Android 10? Do the encryption keys get completely WIPED to irrecoverable state after a factory reset? Will rooting&using disk digger reveal more data? Can personal data slip into the inaccessible (without root) system partition? I'm very confused about it all. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:32 PM PST If you lose your phone, you can't get into your other stuff, obviously. If you get a new phone, you can't just sign in to it, because it's a new device even when the number is the same. How would this be resolved? If your number changes, you can't add the new number previous to its activation. You lose the old one, so you can't verify the new one via the prompt on the old one. How does this get resolved? | Hisense A5- No Google services Posted: 25 Feb 2020 01:30 PM PST Hey folks, I'm considering a Hisense A5 for the eink screen, but it doesn't have Google Services and while you can sideload the play store etc. apparently sign-in is blocked. Does anyone know of any third party app that will sync contacts and calendar back to Google not via Google Services? | My video playback is laggy and I have no sound. Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:24 AM PST I recently installed a new OS (specifically Lineage OS) on my Pocophone F1 and everything worked fine. Until, I noticed that video playback on the entire device - photos app, YouTube, web browser, Messenger was freezing and there was no sound. Anyone know a fix to this? I had it on Kit-Kat, life was great but of course that was dropped by just about everything I used. So I had to upgrade it to the most recent thing it was supported by, which is 6.01, Marshmallow. But now, especially on online forums, whenever I click on a link, it never loads what was clicked on. It will pick some random other page. It looks like the page has stopped loading, and the link even lights up like it was selected, but then some other page appears. I never had this problem before the upgrade. It does this to a somewhat lesser extent on a device I have that runs Oreo, but on the tablet it is almost unbearable. Can anything be done? [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 25 Feb 2020 12:33 PM PST Anyone know of a way to lock the home screen(s) to portrait mode but still allow rotation on other screens (i.e. When viewing photos or videos). Currently seems that I can either lock portrait mode for EVERYTHING or ALL screens rotate. No middle ground. Ideally I'd prefer to do this without need of an app but if I need one then so be it. Posted: 25 Feb 2020 12:21 PM PST I have an Lg G8 with Videotron, and I use Nova launcher, and almost all my phone is black amoled backgrounds and in night/dark mode, except in Firefox. When in Firefox, even with a dark theme and dark viewer, my home touch buttons continue to have a white background instead of black like everywhere else on my phone. | Native screen recorder Android 9 Posted: 25 Feb 2020 11:50 AM PST Hi all The screen recorder tile on my navigation panel shows switched on ( blue, as compared to other greyed out items on the panel) when I switch on the phone, stays like that for a couple seconds, then greys out. So i will buy a new phone soon, idk if i should go for the S20/+ or the Iphone 11 Pro/Max. From the Pics i have seen the Iphone can shoot pretty great pics of stars and stuff, would the S20 be better since it has a better camera? but can it also do long exposure shots like the iphone of 30 sec or hell maybe even Star Trails? I have heard of smth called gcam, where you port the software of the pixel into your phone or smth like that, is this actually usable? And how long would it take for a gcam port to appear for the S20...i am sorry for all these noob questions but i am 15 and i was tbh very disconnected from all the new phones and their news that appeared, because i didnt care but now my father is offering to buy me a new expensive phone since my Samsung J3 is old, doesnt have space, and bad performance....thx. So I'm thinking malware. But I havent downloaded anything in a while and it started happening yesterday. Tried clearing history and cache. Tried cleaning my phone. Any ideas or help will be great. | Cannot install apks from the browser directly Posted: 25 Feb 2020 09:51 AM PST Hello, I own Huawei mate 20x, and I use Firefox as my main browser. Previously, on emui 9 I was able to download an app from any website and normally install it by tapping on the notification bar when it completes. However, since I have upgraded to emui 10, when downloading an apk through Firefox and tapping on it (as I used to do before) I get lots of options to open the app with, but no package installing option. I have tried downloading from chrome and it works fine, I can normally install any app by tapping on it. Currently, for Firefox I have to choose to open file manager and install it from there. I have recently contacted Huawei support and was instructed to clear cache partition, but nothing changed, they said it might be a bug in the software, but I don't think so, because on my other phone which runs emui10 the problem doesn't seem to appear there. There is two apps, the one with the content and the one with the login activity. The login app displays a pop up message that doesn't allow me to use the app after logging in. [link] [comments] |
