Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:10 PM PST I've used LIRC for years on Linux with a network IR sensor and universal remote. Is there a version for Android TV? (The Android clients I've seen let a phone act as a remote for LIRC, which isn't what I want.) [link] [comments]

Remapping button to HDMI (Philips). Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:08 AM PST So i found this post, https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/95r1q5/remap_android_tv_remote_button_possible_sony/ And Philips also has an api but not for HDMI afaik. So there is an ADB command on windows/linux which performs it, but thats quite a hassle. (Since i'd need a pc 24/7 running to use that). Is there an easy way to remap it? Using the tv only? Edit: I have a temporary solution with my raspberry pi (it executes the adb shell on http callback) [link] [comments]
Question RE: m3u4u.com and custom EPG Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:31 PM PST I have two IPTV providers including one test URL and a paid URL. Both provide great quality channels but the EPGs aren't great. I tested out m3u4u.com and produced a much improved EPG. Here's my question: my URLS have my user/pass credentials embedded in the M3U link (and throughout the xml). Should I be concerned uploading the url to the site? I have 2 concerns (1) the obvious threat of someone gaining access to my credentials, and (2) the possibility that my provider will lock me out thinking I'm trying to share the service as m3u4u downloads the xml from the provider after I provide the url. I tested using my test account that was set to expire today - so no harm done. But I'm worried to create an epg using my paid service. Is there a better (and still free) way to go about this? Am I worrying needlessly and should I use m3u4u? Any thoughts or help appreciated. [link] [comments]
Android TV is still not a good experience Posted: 29 Jan 2020 03:52 AM PST Android's (largely Google) strategy for Television has been a mess. Sharing my experiences with Android TV over the years (Starting with Google TV, Chromecast, Firestick, NVIDIA Shield, Smart TV) including a Chinese TV Box that I tried recently: Disclaimer: I don't mean to be comprehensive or definitive. This is my personal experience with these devices over the years. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Jan 2020 02:32 PM PST Hey guys! I have a shield tv and a friend got me a homepod for my birthday. Trying to figure out if I can watch Plex through my Shield (connect to a projector with no WiFi) and run the audio through the homepod. [link] [comments]
