What is the worst UI made by an OEM?

I really think UI is important when buying a phone. What should I avoid?

Google Play Music "Downloading Now" notification

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:28 PM PST

    On Pixel 2, Android 10..

I frequently seem to be getting a notification in the shade that shows an arrow incoming (like when I'm downloading an app) and the words "Google Play Music Downloading Now" for 3-4 seconds, then it vanishes.

Anyone else seeing this and/or explain?

Old Google weather alert notification every time I reboot

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:18 AM PST

I have a Galaxy S10e, currently experiencing awful RAM problems because of the Android 10 update, so I'm rebooting daily.

After each reboot, I get a tornado warning notification dated January 10. Going to notification settings shows it as the "Miscellaneous" category from the Google app. I tried Clear Cache and Force Stop, and it still happens. I tried swiping it away, and clicking on it, but it still happens.

How do I get this notification to actually be dismissed?

Looking for an Android Launcher for simple secondary phone

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 03:00 AM PST

I was wondering if anyone knew any launchers for Android that would work well as a backup phone. I use an iPhone as a daily driver and carry around an Android for certain apps and for testing and as an international sim. I was just wondering if there are any launchers out there made for using as a secondary device, maybe with more simple UI?

    Question about Moto G7 camera

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 09:36 AM PST

Just got the Moto G7 after cracking my Moto x4 and the camera is pretty good, comparable to my Moto x4 but pictures look grainy compared to the old one especially on Snapchat and I was wondering if this is because of the screen size and resolution and how they display my photos on the G7 or if they just are like that now?

    3a battery drain question

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:50 PM PST

Is 10% overnight normal? That seems bizarre coming from an iphone 5s where it's about 1%, especially when the 3a has almost 3x the battery size (after 6 years' degradation). I have tried everything I can think of including:

    Airplane mode

Bluetooth, wifi, data, location, etc. off

    No syncing

    Closing all apps

Going through every app and optimizing for battery

    Battery optimization in settings on

    Am I missing something??

Is there a place we can go to more efficiently clean up the Google Play "Library"?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:20 PM PST

So I was looking for an App I thought I had gotten from Google Play several years ago. I went into the Play Store, Into My Apps, and then into the Library to see everything I had ever downloaded. There I am greeted with every app I've ever downloaded. After checking for the App I was looking for I decide to clean up the list so that I only have the apps I am likely to download again so that hopefully this issue is quicker to mitigate in the future and maybe re-install some apps or games I liked but removed for one reason or another a while back.

The problems I found are that you have to click to remove the app, then ok that removal, then wait for the list to update. All of this is cumbersome and very time-consuming. I was hoping there was a better method to do this cleanup. I couldn't find it on the Google Play website. I was hoping for something that would allow me to select multiple apps and clear them all out at once.

Is there some way to do this either with a different app, a specific website, or whatnot? Any help, ideas, or insight would be very useful and most appreciated.

Lock screen notifications - Any way to have them expanded by default?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 11:46 AM PST

link to what i'm talking about: https://i.imgur.com/jkI0tyU.png

Pixel 4 on the left, Pixel XL on the right. notifications on the right are listed out as an actionable line item, but on my Pixel 4, the notification is just a single little icon. i have to swipe down to display notifications, so if i want to tap reply, i have to first swipe down from the top.

is there any setting that i can toggle to have Pixel 4 lock screen notifications act like they do on my Pixel XL? i've gone into Settings > notifications on lockscreen but everything is basically the same.

    thanks in advance.

Android Issue on Huwaei P20 lite

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 11:18 AM PST

I had purchased Huwaei P20 lite phone a year back. Since last month or so I am observing all my android apps have become slow.

I was trying to search best Android browsers and even the ones that are reviewed as best such as Puffin, Brave or Firefox are working extremely slow in comparison to Chrome . The text settings for these browsers are not being applied in the app and by default the app is taking only system settings for the text size.

Other issues are apps crashing or internal server errors being thrown up and reading mode almost never works. I am extremely concerned about the phone performance - is this a Huwaei issue or Android Issue?? especially after the Google announcement that sometime last year they won't be providing Android update support for Huwaei phones?

What should I do to fix this? Should I just give up and look for a new phone? I need a very fast browser and none seem to work!

How can I make sure the apps are displayed in their original language in my phone?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:55 AM PST

It's so annoying as a non-native English speaker to have to endure nonsensical app translations.

How can I make sure the apps are displayed in their original language in my phone?

    Currently I'm on a Galaxy S7, Android 8.0.0

Raising/lowering the volume on my bluetooth speaker.

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:43 AM PST

Recently bought an outdoor speaker for the house. Initially my dad's phone (Note 10+) was the one connected to it via bluetooth. On his phone, when you would raise or lower the volume it would adjust the volume on the speaker itself. I could tell this was happening because on the speaker there is a light that would get brighter as you turned the volume up; plus on his phone when adjusting the volume the speakers name would show up in the pop-up of the volume slider. On my phone (Galaxy S9+) when connected to the speaker, adjusting the volume only seems to effect the volume on my phone. On the speaker the volume will automatically default to around 20% after a few minutes of inactivity. So if that happens and I want to turn the volume up again, turning the volume up on my phone to 100% is still really quite because the speaker's volume is only at 20%. I would have to walk over and turn the volume up on the speaker itself to make it go higher.

    Hopefully this makes sense.

TL;DR: How do I control my speakers volume via bluetooth and not my phone volume.

Set bluetooth sample rate to 48khz as the standard

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 12:13 AM PST

    Here is the case:

I own a Oneplus 6T and Audeze Mobius headphones. The Headphones have build in DSP that can alter the sound in magnificent ways. To do this, the sample rate of the LDAC audio should not exceed 48khz, otherwise there isn't enough computing power in the headphones left for the DSP adjustments. My phone goes to 96khz automatically every time I turn my bluetooth on, which I then have to adjust in the developer settings, it is kind of a hassle.

My question for you guys is: is there a way I can set the sample rate of bluetooth to 48khz permanently?

    Thanks!

Mate 20 Lite - download speed dropping while using bluetooth

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:43 AM PST

Since r/Huawei didn't let my post through, I'm posting here, maybe someone can help me. I have googled the issue, and have seen it happening with other phones, but didn't find a solution.

So recently I have changed from the iPhone SE to the Mate 20 Lite, I have been loving it so far, but I have a small problem. When I'm using my bluetooth earphones, my download speed drastically drops. I'm using a 5GHz wi-fi, tried changing channels many times, and still the same. I'm posting the links for the screenshots of the speedtest with and without bluetooth on. My question would be, is there any way to fix this ? My iPhone SE had no problem, but with the Mate 20 Lite can't even watch a 1080p60 video without stutters, and resoulution dropping.

Why aren't Google phones supported by Lineage OS as before?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 08:22 AM PST

For example, I only see Pixel 1, not for Pixel 2, 3, or 4. It (or its former self CyanogenMod) used to support all Google devices as soon as they were released. Why? Could it be one of...

    1. Recent Google devices are blocking custom ROM's or making it very difficult to develop custom ROM's for them.
    2. LineageOS is dying and they don't have enough resources to support many devices as before.
    3. Google devices aren't selling well and don't have enough users.
    4. Custom ROM's are dying and few people are interested in developing or installing them.
    5. Some other reason.

(SUPPORT) - How do I make my Google keyboard change my 's' inputs to 'a'?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2020 04:13 PM PST

Hope the title makes sense. Basically I've developed a habit of hitting s instead of a when trying to input the singular word 'a'. I'm sick of having to correct it but I'm also not learning not to do it! I'm using the built in Google keyboard on Android 8. Thanks for any help.

I got an sd card for my Galaxy s9+. I want to backup the entire card to my pc hard rive. I'm unable to access that card with either connecting the phone via cable nor inserting the sd card in my computer (encrypted?) Please help!

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 07:28 AM PST

I'm pretty excited to get the new S20 in a few months and am pretty serious about backup of all my old pictures and videos and misc on my sd card i have in mys S9+, however, I'm unable to access it. When removing the sd card from the phone and inserting directly to my laptop it shows as empty, I assume its some kind of android/Samsung encryption?!

Please Help me reslove it. Thanks!

I have a Samsung J7 and I am trying to install PES 2020 to my device.

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:55 AM PST

I have a Samsung J7 and I am trying to install PES 2020 to my device. When I try to install it, playstore tells me that I need to free up some space. But the screen where I choose which app to uninstall tells me that I have enough space but won't let me install the app. Any help?

I have tried deleting playstore's cache and data as well as Google Play. I also tried to select one of the apps that I could uninstall but playstore shows the same message again.

How much internal storage does my device have?

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:22 AM PST

Some apps say it has about 12 GB and others about 60 GB.

When I attached it to a Windows laptop it says about 60GB but when I try and copy files to the internal storage, it maxes out at about 10 GB.

Here are some screenshots from different apps:

    https://imgur.com/a/CiPfAa7

    From inside Android settings:

    From a File Manager app:

    https://i.imgur.com/0Vmj9vq.png

    From DiskInfo app:

    https://i.imgur.com/4hRkiQ3.png

The SD card I put in is 30 GB but DiskInfo is saying 153 GB for some reason.

I bought the tablet as it had 64 GB of storage advertised.

    Have I been tricked?

Galaxy S6 G920I - volume buttons don't work in download mode

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 04:15 AM PST

Previously flashed firmware (G920I). Volume buttons work in the system but crap out in DM. Home button defective due to rain leakage across broken front screen but fingerprint sensor still functional. Rebooting to recovery gives the 'installing new system...no command' failure and walks into standard samsung recovery

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I suspect its defective firmware or the home button influencing DM.

WiFi calling only works in airplane mode

    Posted: 17 Jan 2020 03:56 AM PST

    Hello

I've got a new Xiaomi Note 8T and I've turned on WiFi calling. However, it doesn't seem to work (no wifi calling icon) I have poor signal at home and I often miss calls or can't hear people etc so I want to use WiFi calling.

I found some forum and people said try turning on airplane mode, then enabling WiFi and sure enough when I do that ... WiFi calling is now working. Perfectly. The question is why? On my wife's Samsung phone WiFi calling works without being in airplane mode but on my Xiaomi I have to be in airplane mode or it doesn't work at all.

Any idea how I can get WiFi calling to work WITHOUT having to be in airplane mode, as it's a pain to keep turning it on/off and I often leave the house and forget it's in airplane mode and then nothing works.
