My bank's website breaks my auto-rotate setting? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 02:37 AM PST Hi, this is a minor issue. But one that bothers me. I have auto-rotate turned off on my pixel3a. However, when visiting my bank's website the screen will switch to landscape if my phone is orientated to trigger it. How is it possible? YouTube is the only other site that is able to ignore this setting on my phone. I don't understand the reason for the offensive design choice of the bank. But that's not the point. If I turn auto-rotate off, I expect Chrome to respect this choice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:57 AM PST I have a oneplus 6 and recently the Google App has been playing up. The moment I search for something and then leave the app in the background, my phone decides to respond to taps every 5 seconds. The Chrome app is fine. Just specific to the Google search app. Wondering if others have this too? [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to use different DNS for different connections? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 02:46 AM PST I want to use Cloudflare while on mobile network , but use the pi-hole when I'm at home network. I checked the settings I can't see anything related to that. Is it possible? [link] [comments] |
ID3 / Mp3 tagging in Android 10 Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:55 AM PST Ever since my S10+ has been updated to Android 10, I have been having issues updating artwork on my files. Several ID3 tagging apps no longer work, once you swap out artwork for a new one, it does not seem to work, and this has only happened since I updated my phone to Android 10. Does anybody know why, or if there is a way round at all? [link] [comments] |
Samsung S8 inputting multiples of top row letters, only on Gboard Posted: 10 Jan 2020 11:04 AM PST Samsung S8, migrated from a Nexus 6P. Wanted to keep using Gboard but when I type keys on the top row it will usually input several duplicates of each letter (in US English mode, unsure of other languages). If I switch to Samsung Keyboard there is no issue whatsoever, and I'm not having any other touchscreen issues. The phone is basically brand new and fully up to date (One UI v 1.0, Android version 9, kernel 4.4.153-16926903). Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gboard with no change in behaviour. 相机 folder in my Internal storage Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:43 AM PST I have been trying to delete this folder, but it just keeps on appearing. I don't know where this came from. The word translates to "Camera" and maybe I'm being spied on. Does anyone have this experience, and if so, how can I permanently delete this? [link] [comments] |
Saved word doc disappeared without any kind of error message Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:26 AM PST This may turn out to have been a mistake but after my laptop died last year I decided that instead of buying another I would get a tablet and bluetooth keyboard. If I could have afforded a Surface I would have gone for it but I didn't see any issue going with a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2019). I bought Office 365 so I could have access to more features on Word and have set it to autosave to my device as I go along to prevent me losing anything. For some reason today when I was switching between apps, grabbing bits of research to write about, whenever I flicked back to Word it had closed the doc and I had to reopen it from the saved file. Bit of a nuisance, but not too bad. But the last time I flicked back the saved file had disappeared. Entirely. I used the finder function on the tablet, which initially recognised the existence of the file and said it was saved in my 'files folder'. I went to the folder but it was not there. I went back to finder and tried to open it from there but it would not open. I've searched OneDrive and Google Drive just in case but not in there either - I wouldn't really expect it to be as I was deliberately auto-saving to device. The finder function now does not recognise the file title, as if it never existed. What the hell happened here? And is there any way to recover that file? It represents HOURS of work. How to make an app not be able to see another app? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 12:12 PM PST There is a game I am playing that has a mode that doesn't allow an autoclicker to be installed. However, I need it for another game I am playing, and it would be uncomfortable to constantly uninstall and reinstall the autoclicker app. Is there a workaround for this? [link] [comments] |

Unlocking phones & Updates in UK. Posted: 10 Jan 2020 11:57 AM PST (In the UK btw) Firstly, I know Samsung is notoriously bad at updates, that's why I want to check, cause I don't want it any slower. Let's say I buy a used Galaxy A70 that is locked to 3/EE etc. Currently, the updates come through the mobile network right? If I unlock it will the updates still go through 3/EE etc. or will Samsung provide them. Basically,

Posted: 10 Jan 2020 01:34 AM PST IDK what happened. All of G Apps are not working, save for Chrome. I am able to browse the web (with Chrome), do a Google search, view reddit with Boost app, play a game which is very picky with internet just fine. I'm sure it's not a problem with the internet. What's worst is that I was using Maps just fine this morning. Just now, about 6 hours later, same problem. There is no problem when on WiFi, just data. [link] [comments] |
Cant remove lockscreen theme Help needed! Posted: 10 Jan 2020 02:49 AM PST Hey there, first post to this sub. How to reset all app notification settings Posted: 10 Jan 2020 10:08 AM PST I got a Samsung S8 with Android 9 installed and updated. After two years of updates and several app instalations, the notification settings are completely messed up, some not working at all. So my question is; is it possible to reset all app notification settings in bulk? As if the OS and everything else is freshly installed? Of course, without recurring to a clean install and other tweaks. Doable? Yes, no? Thanks a lot for your help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:54 AM PST Is it possible to install GCam on Galaxy J6 2018 (Exynos 7870)? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:52 AM PST I just got this new tablet, replacing my 6.5 year old Nexus 7. But I can't for the life of me find a root guide or custom ROMs supported for it, even xda developers doesn't seem to have a forum for it? Any help would be appreciated, the stock ROM is super bloated to what I'm used to. [link] [comments] |
Turn off Bluetooth auto connect Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:48 AM PST Is there a way to turn off bluetooth auto connect? Or at least prioritise one device over another? I'm listening to music with my bluetooth headset most of the time, but when I'm in my bedroom my phone (OnePlus 5) will just randomly connect to my Bluetooth speakers. It's really annoying and the only way I see to solve the problem is to disconnect that device entirely but that's bullshit IMHO. If I remember correctly Blackberry had an option like 9 years ago for bluetooth connections to always connect automatically or connect when no other device is connected or only connect manually. Why isn't something like this a thing anymore? [link] [comments] |
Looking for the right OS - Samba folder and VPN on old hardware Posted: 10 Jan 2020 02:13 AM PST Hello folks, I recently acquired an old tablet, a Lenovo TB2-X30F, that I'd like to use as a video player mainly. Said videos are hosted on a Samba folder I need to access via a VPN. From what I saw, android doesn't support Samba folders / drives. Is there a lightweight custom rom for old hardware which would help me make all this work? Best Edited : switched the word "distribution" for "custom rom" [link] [comments] |
How to have the time format (clock) display colon as the separator instead of a dot? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:58 AM PST The phone: OnePlus 6 (Android 10) If you didn't get it by the title: My Android system shows the the time as 16.00, but I would like it to be shown as 16:00 instead. Posted: 10 Jan 2020 08:52 AM PST Can't add a new google account, twitter infinite loading. Sometimes searching doesn't work at all. It only happens while using wi-fi. I've tried 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 , deleting cache and data for google apps. Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 9 [link] [comments] |
Text message volume is very low Posted: 10 Jan 2020 07:39 AM PST At some point in the last few months, my text message volume has become very quiet. Even with all of my volumes turned to max, it remains the same, quiet volume. It doesn't seem to be related to the specific sound that I'm using as switching to a different sound is still just as quiet. My normal ringtone and alarm volumes work as expected, it's just my text message sound. I have a Moto G6 with the latest Android version (Version 9, with June 1 security according to the about info). Anyone know what's going on? [link] [comments] |
WiFi randomly slow, only on my Android device at home network Posted: 09 Jan 2020 03:00 PM PST I've got a weird problem I have not been able to solve, despite being pretty technical. I've got a Xiaomi Note 5 with Pixel OS. Network connectivity works fine everywhere (WiFi /3G/4G), but at home I've got an issue. Many other devices are connected to the same WiFi, none of them have this problem. And my phone works fine everywhere else. Already tried to forget the WiFi network and connect again. What else can I try? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Jan 2020 12:37 AM PST Does an app exist that will allow me to transfer a voice mail I have saved to a file I can then send through a text message? If I could attach the audio file to a picture that would be nice as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'm using a Samsung S7 and use Verizon as a carrier. [link] [comments] |
What is up with the 4 apps that always appear at teh bottom of "currently running"? Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:33 AM PST They seem completely random and change depending on what app i have open. Is it apps that are commonly jumped to? [link] [comments] |
Cubot quest lite background apps Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:28 AM PST Hey guys. I have the Cubot quest lite with android 9 and I am having problems with messaging apps like signal, whatsapp, telegram. I stop receiving notifications until I open them again, but for example messenger app works fine. I have disabled the battery optimisations but that does not help. As I can read on cubot website, there is some feature that is killing the apps (For your security, there are some apps that will automatically close when you've been away from them for some time.) Could you please help how to fix this? Thank you so much [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Jan 2020 06:50 PM PST I've seen and heard about them a lot lately, and they seem too good to be true. Are either of them legit, or are the apps fake? [link] [comments] |
