[Dev] How one honest fan review got my game Sky Tower Tycoon more publicity than a whole month of marketing

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 04:59 AM PST

My game Sky Tower Tycoon is available since October 2019. I am a solo indie dev and spent the last 2 years (next to my full time job) developing this game and tried to make it unique and fun.

I got overwhelming good feedback from some of my players, so I know the game itself is good. But the amount of players is still low. The game is also almost invisible in the play store. So over the last months I tried out some marketing to get new players. The result was underwhelming. Either users tend to uninstall it after the first day (probably wrong target group) or an install is way to costly. It does not make sense to pay more for an install, if users in average spend less than that in my game. E.g. in december facebook marketing got me 826 total installs at a daily budget of 10€. And facebook let me target "Incremental gamers". I know this is a low budget, I am still testing out what works and what not.

Then this review was posted on reddit. A short and honest review of a fan. It's only 6 days ago, but this post already convinced more than 1100 players to try out my game. Pushing my daily active users from about 100 to 600. And wow they like it, give amazing feedback and also love to spend money, to support me as the developer. I am aware that these numbers are still very low, though.

Just wanted to tell this story, since currently it is a joy to watch the numbers in the background. I wish I could convince more players that like the game to write about it. In reddit, forums, facebook, ect. That would help a lot. I tried to reach out to (mobile) gaming websites or youtubers, with no success. I wonder how other developers (with limited budget) push their game.

I love how people finally got sick of the shitty ads and how they treat them now

What's the best strategy game released on 2019 that you enjoy playing?

Looking for a F2P friendly CCG on mobile? Look no further than Mythgard!!

    Posted: 08 Jan 2020 09:24 PM PST

So I have been playing Mythgard casually for about 2 months now and I really want to help spread the word because Rhino games deserves all the support they can get.

In a genre dominated by greed (Hearthstone/MTG), Mythgard is very F2P friendly and hosts an incredible amount of game-play depth (nearly on par with MTG which is impressive for a mobile game) and QoL features like replays (you can watch a complete replay of ANY player on your friends-list), deck-tracker, etc.

Another thing, it has 2v2 which can be a lot of fun!!

If you are a fan of CCG games or strategy in general and you are looking for something new and fresh on mobile then I recommend checking the game out.

Feel free to reply with any questions and I can answer them. Happy Gaming!!

From childhood I loved RPG games. When started developing first games I realized that there are no much experience to make normal RPG - so decided to go into action / shooter first. But now I added some RPG elements into my Rome 2077: Space Wars. You can now progress in any special ability.

Eve Echoes beta coming to an end

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 09:29 AM PST

So the eve Echoes beta has been going for a little over the month. Just wanted to share my opinion for those that haven't tried or haven't heard about it. My personal take is that it is looking very promising and has a lot of potential to it. Asthetics wise the game looks identical to eve online, the ships, planets, stations etc. They were really able to capture the the vastness and depth the universe has to offer. You can do missions, pvp, over, mining, and industry, it is nice being able to go in any direction you want and not have the game hold your hand

Being in beta their are still things that need to be added like corps. Towards the end they've had some large scale fleet battles where people were fighting against each other and devs. Even though their was some lag it was an amazing experience going out with your Corp as a fleet and fighting. Their were over 400 people that found, most I've seen in any mobile game. Looks like the estimated release date is Q3 2020.

What are some best games without ads?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 06:23 AM PST

I just don't like advertisements. I rather buy ingame purchases, if i really like the game

So we all know the Scapes games are false advertisement, but...

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 08:24 AM PST

Are there any good games that really are like how the ads depict, in the choice game department like how Homescapes is depicted? It drives me mad that these games are advertised as one thing that seems like a fun premise, but then is basically bullshit and candy crushing, essentially. So I'm curious if there really is any game out there that ACTUALLY plays like that? If not, someone should really make a game like that lol. It looks so fun and I hate how disappointed I was to try the game out and be so disappointed that it was nothing at all as advertised. 😩

Looking for a game(idle/mmo?) with progress and grindy

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 10:30 AM PST

In the past i played l2r and it was my stuff, till it got way too much. I have 1h per day to pay attention to it. Eventually it got too much. Since then it left me an itch unable to scratch off.

    games i played:
bdm (its actually what i was looking for, but way too much stuff to do)

    Ragnarok M, meh.

afk arena(was insanely my style, i quit before summer, dont want to go back)

I think that something like lineage 2M would be my thing(grindly, afk, with progress) Honestly im open to everything, it just has to hook me up!

    thanks in advance

Any interesting game based on deck building?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 06:06 AM PST

I've seen Void Tyrant and Card Quest and I wanted to know how deep are those games. I really would like to play a single player card game where you can build interesting decks and such.

Recommend me $15 of games to buy

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 09:37 AM PST

Hi, I have $15 in google rewards credit that is going to expire soon, what are the best games to buy? I have both home consoles and a Switch so I would prefer some kind of phone exclusive experience/game. All genres welcome, better if they don't require an active internet connection and have no timers/micro transactions. Thanks!

    Which game should i try

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 12:56 AM PST

This week about 5 good games were released: 1. ROG - Rage of gods 2. Ragnorak tactics 3. phantoms tang dynasty 4. World of dragon nest 5. G.I. Joe - War on cobra

Have anyone tried any of these games? If yes, how F2P friendly did you find the game to be.

[REQUEST] multiplayer RPG with single character

    Posted: 09 Jan 2020 03:42 AM PST

I love games where you have your PG and you kind of develop it, with perks, skills, equipment or whatever.

I would like to have this character, fight with other people, and "evolve" him.

Is there anything like this around? You can also have other aspects in the game, like building or whatever, but the personalisation of the main character is a must for me.

    Thanks!
