Android Questions: Something about the battery of my Android bugs me

Something about the battery of my Android bugs me

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:38 AM PST

Every time my battery reaches around 50% and I use the camera, it would always "die" within seconds of using the camera.

However, when I turn it back on, the battery would return to the former state.

For example, the phone is 48%. It dies within two seconds of using the camera. I turn it back on and the battery is on 48%. After that, I can use my phone perfectly fine as long as I don't use the camera.

Should I reboot my phone? Get a new battery? What should I do?

    Thanks for any help!

New Galaxy s10e won't connect to networks.

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 05:32 AM PST

I previously had an S7 and while at work was able to connect to our wifi. My phone was on it's last legs so I upgraded to an S10e. The problem is now I can't connect to my work wifi. Normally, I will need to input a username and password and it connects no problem. Now it won't even ask me for them it just says it's connected but that internet is not available and my wifi symbol has an exclamation point on it. I've tried turning wifi on/off, turning airplane mode on/off, forgetting all networks, and even reset network data

Razer Phone 1 stuck in Download mode

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 10:49 AM PST

Purchased refurbished off of the official Razer eBay store. On first boot it immediately went into download mode and any time I start it up, even with a hard reset, it immediately goes into it. I've been able to get to just the boot screen without displaying download mode by holding down both volume up and down, and power for about 30 seconds. Both developer mode and USB debugging are not turned on since I couldn't boot into Windows.

Locked out of a legally purchased Tab S6?

    Posted: 15 Dec 2019 04:40 PM PST

    Hey everyone,

I purchased earlier a Tab S6 at Best Buy but it was an opened box. It seems that the tablet is locked to another user account and I can't even get past the login screen. I've tried a hard reset and factory reset from the boot menu, but nothing can be done.

Short of going back to Best Buy tomorrow and complain, anything that I can do to gain access?

    Thanks!

    Update Error

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:49 AM PST

I bought an Umidigi A5 Pro for my mum a few weeks ago, and it has been having a few odd issues.
However now I have gone to install a new wireless update, and during the installation process it flashed up saying error, with the little Android Man lay on his back with his chest open.... the phone now seems to just be flashing up with the logo over and over again (for the last half an hour or so).

Can anyone help me, please? I am not exactly tech savvy on this stuff!

Photo gallery that sits across Google Photos backup

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 09:32 AM PST

I have my photos backing up to Google Photos (cloud), however I want a gallery app to reference the photos in Google Photos and allow me to sort them into albums/galleries, ideally with password protection for some albums. Ideally this should not move/change the location of the source files in photos, but add the photos into galleries at a meta level.

Alternatively, is it possible to have my photos backup automatically to Drive, and then a photo gallery app do the same as the above.

Basically, I want to keep an automatic backup to the cloud, but allow a gallery app to be the viewer and sort into galleries

The navigation button doesn't go away (galaxy s8)

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 08:13 AM PST

As far as I remember it was supposed to go away by pressing a button to hide if not being used or doing something in the settings but neither of these options are available. What do I do?

LG Stylo 4 having intermittent issues charging and is steadily getting worse and worse, arriving at this weekend when it would not charge or turn on at all. As we speak, it is 'fast charging' and everything seems to be fine, but I am very worried about the phone.....

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 08:03 AM PST

I use my phone a lot, so when a phone starts to go downhill I don't complain too much because I figure the law of averages being what it is I probably just wear down my phone faster than the average consumer. One thing I use my phone for is to listen to podcasts/audiobooks while running (I run about 80 miles a week). I also play games while listening to the audio, and at night I'll often turn on the flashlight just to have one more light on to help me be visible as a pedestrian even though I am usually up in the hills or on dirt trails. To keep it powered, I have several different high capacity Anker portable USB chargers that let me get through hours, and sometimes even days straight of using my phone at a high level of capacity.

While in use, my LG Stylo 4 has been having a difficulties staying charged, even while plugged in to one of my portable chargers. I will reduce the battery usage as needed to get the phone to last through the duration of my outing.

However, this weekend the phone drained completely while I was out. It would not turn back on despite trying to plug it in to various chargers, walls outlets, using different cables, etc. -- no success. For some reason, plugging it in to the computer this morning gave it the spark of life it needed to turn back on for the first time in 2.5 days. I then switched it to a 'fast charger' wall outlet and, remarkably, it seems to be fast charging and that everything is fine.

I am very worried about the phone though, I feel that I won't be able to trust the battery or its ability to charge while in use.

    Recommendations?

Currently I leaning towards replacing the battery myself.

Maybe a stupid question but is this from a virus or something

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 07:48 AM PST

So this may be a really stupid question but is this being caused by a virus or something? It's been popping up on my homescreen recently. I haven't clicked enable although I don't think that would even matter if it were a virus. I hadn't seen this in my years of android use until a few days ago. Any help is appreciated. Sorry for being dumb. Here's the pic.

Way to keep Ringtone/Notifications at Max Volume?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:46 AM PST

I am scatterbrained, and as part of my job I am on call 24/7. Sometimes, I will go into a location that requires me to lower or mute my audio. When I forget to turn this back on, it can cause some frustration. Is there a way to write an android shell script or is there a small, simple Android app that can either turn back up the volume after a set amount of time or keep warning me my volume is turned off?

If not I gotta make an app for that lol. Thanks!

Root an s6 with Android 7

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:36 AM PST

I'm a software engineer but have limited experience with android. I'd like to know how I can root an old s6 with Nougat from AT&T.

I haven't found much success with the one click methods both from inside to OS and via PC connection . I'm planning on learning more about android programming to add that to my tool belt.

Any help would be appreciated. If I'm 100% guaranteed success, I wouldn't mind paying. However, I'm certainly open to command line DIY methods as well.

How do I find the specific Battery drain issue being attributed to "Android System"?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 02:42 AM PST

I use a Samsung galaxy A7 2016. Starting about 3 weeks ago, I started noticing my battery draining unusually faster. Screen on time which is normally about 4 hours reduced to just a little over 2hrs. Idle drain overnight which was previously about 5% jumped to 20-25%.

I initially felt my battery was becoming faulty but the battery health reported by Ampere app is "good". So I went looking for the possible causes and under battery utilisation, "Android System" is now constantly number one, which never used to be the case. The screen was the number one user of my battery before this issue started.

So my question is how do I find out what exactly is making Android System use up so much battery life?

    Thanks in advance

How to remove the brush icon at the top left?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:20 AM PST

I've just received an old Alcatel Flash Plus 2 from my dad, and there's this brush icon at the top left that I can't get rid of. When I pull down there's no notification for it, but I think it's the icon for the File Manager app of this phone.

What's the best whatsapp transfer software?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 06:17 AM PST

I need to transfer all my whatsapp data (convo, pics n vids and contacts) from Android (Galaxy S6) to iPhone XS. I used a software to do iphone > android once 3 yrs ago and it worked fine (wondershare I think). So I wanna use a software again. What software is the best/reliable? I'm willing to pay no more than $30.

Or if there is an easy way to do it manually then I'd be interested too.

Installing MIUI on Huawei and dual camera functionality

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 05:11 AM PST

    Hi guys,

My Huawei P9 currently goes through a screen replacement, and I want to take that opportunity and refresh the phone software. I was never getting along with EMUI (previous Xiaomi user here), and want to install MIUI. My only concern is handling the dual camera after installation (I don't know how it work's under the hood) - will the software recognize it and take full advantage of it?

    Cheers

Is Flutter the future of Android app development in 2023?

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 03:53 AM PST

Here's What I found So far (Worth a look):-

Have a look into the crystal ball: What will the Android app development landscape look like in 2023? Google's Fuchsia promises huge functionality. One way of getting a leg up and preparing for the future is learning Flutter and Dart. Find out how Flutter can help you be a better Android developer and what the app development revolution will look like.

One of the most common mobile operating systems is Android. Statistics showcased that Android accounted for nearly 80 percent of global smartphone users.

As of September 2018, Android became the most used operating system with nearly 76 percent of smartphone users and 30 percent of tablet users, worldwide.

The omnipresence of Android has been drawing the attention of smartphone users. Known as an open source software stack, Android is a leading platform that paves the right pathway for proper customization of both hardware and software choices. This further allows developers to curate impeccable applications and services. Android is the center of attraction for all users trying to acquire the best features through their smartphones or gadgets.

Though fame has been flourishing, Google has been diligent in the development of a new buzz: an alternative to Android. Not that Android has been under any toll. Rather it is one of the most competitive operating systems against Apple's iOS, curbing out a nearly 91 percent loyalty rate. Now, Google aims at creating a future that is not restricted to mobile but will connect to any device or gadget.

A NEW VENTURE WITH GOOGLE FUCHSIA

The name of the future is Fuchsia. The public development phase began silently. Fuschia opens doors as open source code. Fuchsia's functionality is huge. Google techies aim to use this venture with all Android devices, including third-party devices, smart home gadgets, and Chrome laptops. To be specific, Google envisions a single operating system powering every piece of hardware it functions on.

When Android came into functionality, enhanced technologies like AI became a tower of strength to Google's mobile strategy. Though it originally started in 2016, Fuchsia has yet to explore the Tinseltown of the Android world. Matching it up to the level of the functionalities of Android, (enhanced software versions, uniform UI, rapid security updates) curating all the features into one new revolutionized mobile platform is a new leap. It is expected that Fuchsia is going to make its way to the smartphone market by 2023.

As technology upgrades, the chances of Fuchsia replacing Android within the next 10 years or so rises. If you are a techie, it is a wise decision to delve into the concept of transition. You will have to garner knowledge on the functionality of existing apps working on a new platform. So, when compared to Android, Fuschia has similar features, utilitarian platform, and a comparable ecosystem.

With Fuchsia, this new venture of providing all-in-one capable features, flexibility, scalability and reliability for the development of a new platform is highly dexterous.

REVOLUTION OF APP DEVELOPMENT THROUGH GOOGLE FLUTTER

There is a possibility of taking a leap on Fuchsia's development through Google Flutter. It is important to acquire basic knowledge of Flutter. Flutter is an open source cross-platform mobile development framework used for creating apps. Developed by Google, Futter's first alpha version (v0.0.6) released in May 2017; its present version is beta (v0.11.7).

The Flutter framework can also create native apps for both Android and iOS. The single codebase functions well with native APIs and services. Whereas, its mobile UI framework helps curate animations with the same features presented in every native platform. To be more specific, Flutter presents 60 fps performance and 120 fps on devices capable of acquiring 120Hz updates. Though the framework has not been around for long, it is a new venture in the evolution of cross-platform and future-thinking app development. Flutter is the new black for Android developers.

Creating an application Flutter paves a pathway for creating enhanced applications. When Fuchsia launches, developers with knowledge of Flutter can move their existing apps to the new platform without any hindrances. For Android and iOS users, will be a rollercoaster of compiling an existing app for a brand new platform. Through Flutter, developers will be able to make the new expansion of the robust library of apps transitioning to Fuchsia.

Before you develop for Fuchsia, you need to learn the skillset for Google's programming language, Dart, for framework development. Dart is the language that meets all needs and requirements for any mobile platform. Once you learn proper Dart and Flutter functionality, you and your team will be able to create apps that run on all mobile devices. Not only will this save time gaining recognition in the market, but also ensure enhanced features and functionality among apps on all platforms.

    CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

Shifting millions of users from one OS to a brand new operating system is not a five-finger exercise.

With the development and debut of Fuchsia, developers will not have the hassle of starting from scratch and putting together a new application in a new language. Through Fuchsia's implementation on smartphones to different IoT devices, developers will acquire the usage of tools and showcase the new language of the next generation.

You cannot predict if this will replace existing operating systems or if it will be a completely new platform for mobile devices. When it comes to Google's development, you never know what's coming.

Powerbank or extended battery for Samsung Galaxy S (gt i9000)

    Posted: 16 Dec 2019 12:40 AM PST

Good morning fellow redditors. I´m thinking about upgrading to a Samsung Galaxy S but I´m overwhelmed by it´s low battery life (Everything is optimised , it´s just that the oem battery is very old) For a everyday device would you recommend an extended life battery or a PowerBank? Also I have low wifi coverage , Would changing the flex cable fix it?

    Thank you very much

Hi, in this video I noted that there is a tiny flashing at the top of the phone, left of the top speaker. It looks almost like some kind of harddrive activity indicator - which I've never seen on a phone before. Hence my question here. What is that?
