Switch from stock android to MIUI Posted: 15 Dec 2019 01:43 AM PST I always used Motorola phones in past and i was very spectical about XIAOMI devices because of all the hatred towards MIUI but finally i decided to buy REDMI note 8 pro. I am using this device for 3 weeks now. And i absolutely love this device specially MIUI 10. Its so much better than stock android. All bloat can be easily uninstalled using adb if you want. Plus it has so many useful features which i really like. I have listed some features which i absolutely love 1) Call recording. 2) Flash light for incoming calls 3) Button mapping like long press on back key for camera , long press on home key for screen off , double tap on power button for torch , long press power button for assistant. Extremely useful. 4) it doesnt show notification on lock screen again if you received notification while your screen is on. ( This is my observation not sure if its true or not). 5) Raise to wake + face unlock this two features combined takes me instantly to home screen whenever i lift my phone. Its so damn fast. 6) scrolling screenshot 7) Blur in notification shade 8) I really like MIUI recent menu. It also show memory use which is very nice addition. 9) Blur app preview in recent apps + App lock these two features combined are very handy. 10) Daily and monthly data uses in notification shade. 11) option to lock device in landscape mode. 12) Network speed in status bar and that too in left side. Very nice addition. Plus option to turn off notifications icons in status bar. Plus REDMI note 8 pro is really damn fast. I am really happy to make switch from stock android to MIUI. Edit: extremely happy with battery life too here are some attached screenshot from today. [link] [comments]

Sunday Rant/Rage (Dec 15 2019) - Your weekly complaint thread! Posted: 15 Dec 2019 03:11 AM PST Note 1. Join our IRC, and Telegram chat-rooms! Please see our wiki for instructions. This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:
Rules 1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer. 2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars. 3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on. [link] [comments]

Android System WebView update destroy a lot of apps storage data Posted: 14 Dec 2019 05:07 AM PST If your app use android system webvie and only "localStorage" to store appdata, you have massive problems these days. The newest Android System WebView Update cause your app to lose all data. Be aware of that, but as an app developers you cannot do anything against it. It's a disaster. [link] [comments]
Digital Wellbeing idea: App cooldown Posted: 14 Dec 2019 04:07 AM PST I really like the app time limits on Android, but I think another cool option would be an app cooldown feature which limited the amount of time you spent within one instance of an app. For example if I'm in reddit for a continuous 30 minutes close the app and lock it for an hour. The time limit and cooldown period could be customized globally or on an app by app basis. This makes some sense to me in addition to just setting a strict daily limit. [link] [comments]
