Why Google doesn't add an option in the battery settings to change the number of amps and volts the phone gets from the charger Subsequently controlling the charging speed?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 11:21 PM PST

Why? Some people let their phones charge overnight and this could harm the battery in the long term so let's assume you sleep for 8 hours, you can set the phone to fully charge in 8 hours by changing the charging speed so you don't need to worry about your battery.

Need to mention that Samsung one UI has a similar idea which is enabling and disabling the fast charging.

Incase anyone was wondering. I was tempted to get one myself but I hear the battery isn't that great. There's a battery case but it looks a bit ugly and bulky.

Android 10 has broken navigation by design

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 04:15 PM PST

The new navigation system's back action has made side drawers essentially obsolete. Side drawers are still the most popular navigation pattern in Android, a lot of apps have bottom and top bars as the primary navigation component but a complimentary side drawer for secondary destinations.

Toggleing the side drawer through the top left burger is far from accessible when it's half foot away from your finger.

Pulling the drawer diagonally works most of the times but it's a terrible experience as there's a too high of a chance you'll accidentally go back and lose important progress.

I do not understand how the Android designers were comfortable with this huge drawback. The sensitivity adjustment doesn't help, and a simple setting to just enable the back action on a specific side or area of the aide screen would fix this.

I'm posting this because this issue doesn't seem to be getting mentioned at all and it's an enormous design error, and if I'm not alone it might reach someone on the Android design team.

Google Rewards is getting supper pushy, asking for every receipt.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:06 AM PST

So, I've been answering almost every survey for several years.
    I have location allowed.
In the past, they would ask me 3-6 times a month, a few days after visiting a store if I'd been there, then ask for a pic of me receipt, sometimes, I would have the receipt and let Google see it, but more often, I didn't have the receipt.
Now eveytime I go to a restaurant, or store, I get receipt requests, immediately. If I dine in at a counter serve restaurant, I'll get asked while I'm eating. It's grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants. More than 4 times a day, Google is asking me where I was, and what did I buy.
(Currently doing ride share full time, so out and about a lot).

I started clicking not interested without seeing the question.
I'm starting to see Rewards as that overly attached girlfriend meme

Is there any upcoming NATIVE "Sidecar" feature planned for Android?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 05:43 AM PST

Its been very frustrating to use Duet Display, or other similar apps to connect my Galaxy Tab A with S-Pen. Only VirtualTablet works decently as digitizer input but no screen display in that mode.
Sidecar is just amazing and Id really like to have that feature as a native function. Im planning on buying an external usb-c portable monitor for my upcoming Portable Workstation Desktop (got tired of non-upgradable gaming laptops, theyre huge and I have to stay plugged to AC all the time anyway. I dont use them for gaming anyway, just Rendering and simulations), and It would be super nice to just have to bring my android tablet along, and use it as a display, instead of a portable monitor. They cost almost the same but android has no native Monitor mode.
