Some apps are starting to remove the ability to PiP YouTube videos from inside the apps. What is happening? Do the new ToS include some changes regarding PiP?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 06:11 AM PST

Telegram has recently said on Twitter that PiP inside the app doesn't work anymore because "YouTube wants to keep that feature for tehirselves". I also cannot see any link preview for YT links at all on WhatsApp.

What is happening? Is YouTube forbidding third-party apps to use PiP because of some new rules added to their ToS? Any other example of apps that are being updated to remove PiP?

Is there no more hope for compact (<6”) Android phones?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 09:56 AM PST

I know this horse has been beaten before, but the leaked news that next year's S11 will have its smallest screen at 6.2" is a dagger for people like myself who enjoy 'smaller' phones. I think that leaves the Pixel line as the only sub-6" screen Android phone.

I get that big phones are all the rage. But for many like myself, who don't use our phones for media consumption, it's a great annoyance. I don't play games or watch movies/tv shows on my phone. Ocassionally, I'll watch a YT video...but that's about it. I have normal sized hands, but I find that any phone with a screen over 6" is a chore to handle and navigate one handed.

My dream phone would be a OnePlus 7 Pro (or 7T) with a ~5.8" screen. But since everyone is buying big screen phones, either by choice or lack of it, the trends keeps moving up to larger screens. I may have to go with the rumored 5.4" iPhone next year if Pixel 5 follows the same trend.

PSA: if your phone lacks the option to "vibrate when outgoing call connected", here is the solution (no root required)

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 12:06 AM PST

I hate keeping the phone at my ear or keep looking at its screen while waiting for the other party to answer.

Unfortunately my Pixel 2 lacks the option to vibrate when the call is connected/answered. I believe Samsung phones have an option for this.

Someone on Reddit mentioned an open-source app call Nevolution that enables this on any phone.

Been using the app and it works perfectly without root.
