Screen turning on at random, need help

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:30 AM PST

For a the past 2-3 months I've had a problem with my phone screen randomly switching on, despite being locked and untouched. No notifications show up, it acts the same as pressing the power button.

The phone is about 6 months old and had no issues at first.

I've searched online for people with the same issue but none of their solutions worked for me.

Moto/peek/ambient display is switched off, all Moto actions are switched off.

Taken the phone case off incase it was somehow pressing the power button.

I've tried disabling notifications on almost every app as well as uninstalling none essential apps and recently did a factory reset (and restored from backup).

I use Nova launcher and have been since before the problem started.

    Moto g7 Power, using o2.

Can SELinux be set as "Enforcing" through ADB in Custom ROMs? If so, can it brick or harm the device in any way? (Also read description, please. Apologies in advance.)

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 01:08 AM PST

I have a Realme 3 Pro, currently running Android 9 Pie, and am thinking of trying out a custom ROM (noob here) in a few months' time, after official support for popular ROMs such as LineageOS will (hopefully, fingers crossed) pick up pace. There are some ROMs (will download only from XDA) that show bugs as "SELinux is permissive". The ADB command for setting SELinux as "enforcing" is

    setenforce 1

But I suspect this setting can't be changed as easily, and some StackExchange posts say that SELinux policies are complex to code. However, if it could be set to "enforcing", will it brick/harm the device in any way? Also, is permissive SELinux insecure or not recommended for daily usage?

EDIT: By "insecure", I mean will I be able to use payment apps without any fear (assuming that the device with the custom ROM has passed the SafetyNet check)? And if I install any APK downloaded from an internet browser, do I have to be fearful about any covert data collection/destruction (or any other damaging malicious objectives)? I'm asking these questions to help ease my anxiety about this topic a bit.

    Is Andlroid Lost safe?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 08:53 AM PST

Hello. I´ve been using this app for quite some time and it is great but I think my android marked it as a malware (but it was like a year ago on a different phone). It´s on the playstore so it might be safe but it was developed by an independent developer and the permissions are vast, so it might me a potential threat.

    Note 10+ wifi issues?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST

I bought a note 10+ and not until last week did I notice this issue come up, when I am using my phone it works perfectly fine. When I'm on my wifi, everything seems fine, my Instagram loads, I can search the web perfectly fine, and I'm able to play games online. I noticed that when I go on Twitter nothing loads, and I also tried to download an app on the play store but it never downloads until I toggle my wifi off, anyone know a fix to this?

Should I get the Pixel 3a?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:55 AM PST

I'm using a iPhone 8 but planning to regift it to my cousin who is in need of a replacement because she has been living with 16 GB 6s and she told me she would like more storage. My previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S8 which I broke. I vowed to never spend more than $300 CAD on my phones but the pixel 3a has features that I view is essential to me, Live Captioning and Android Streaming to my cochlear implants. The Pixel 3a is $400 CAD on Black Friday. Is it worth it for me?

How to stay connected to a wifi that does not have internet? Trying to set up Somfy MyLink...

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 10:29 AM PST

    Hi,

I have a Somfy MyLink which I'm trying to set up, and the way you do it is that the MyLink makes a Wifi hotspot which you connect to, then the app lets you set it up from there. The problem is that my phone keeps disconnecting from the mylink wifi, because it doesn't have internet. I've already deleted my auto-connecting home networks, but it still disconnects from the wifi. So when I go to the mylink app, it can't find the mylink device.

Does anyone know of a way to force the phone to stay connected to this wifi? Or another way to solve the problem I am having?

    Thanks

Duplicate icons appearing on LG Tablet

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:49 AM PST

Tablet has A LOT of duplicate icons appearing of apps on home screen. For example, I will see 10 icons of Snapchat on the home screen. I can easily remove them, however I was wondering if it was related to a bigger problem such as malware or viruses. I've heard of that duplicate icon virus that's on PC, but it's usually with files and they all seem intact. Any help? Thank you.

I just watched as my phone filled up 2 GB of internal memory space in the span of 1 minute. What is happening?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 07:34 AM PST

I have an unlocked Galaxy S7 that I've been using for a little over 2 years.

Normally I have about 2-3 GBs of free internal memory available out of the total 18ish (a 32GB phone but it's all taken up from system software).

I also have a 100GB card where some of the apps, my photos, and music are stored.

For some reason, this morning my phone gave me the low internal memory warning. I thought that maybe an auto update had take up some space, so I went to clear some stuff out. Back down to roughly 2GB free space

After clearing stuff out, in the span of a minute, it had all filled back up. No update notification. All background apps closed. Cache cleared.

I restarted my phone. Cleared more space. But again, it immediately filled back up. This is causing my phone to slow down extremely, and I can't seem to figure out what's up.

    Any ideas?

    Enabling bootloader on huawei P9

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 05:51 AM PST

As some people would know, Huawei recently shut down their website portion in which you'd be able to request your bootloader unlock ID meaning that the only way is a 3rd party company. Is there a way to get my code without paying cash to a 3rd party company?

    Media/Notification volume?

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 03:31 AM PST

Whenever I'm on YouTube or Spotify, periodically the sound will automatically raise and lower like I got a notification. You know how when you're listening to something and you get a notification, and the thing you're listening to gets faded a little so you can hear your notification sound? It's that, but with no notification and no sound- just the volume fading. I also recall feeling vibrations sometimes like there's a notification but also being nothing. I have a Motorola G7 Supra.

Android Auto is doesn't play music, have to reboot phone almost every time I drive to make it work

    Posted: 23 Nov 2019 02:33 AM PST

In the last couple of weeks I've found audio does not play from Spotify (maybe others too but I am only using Spotify right now) the button is a pause symbol so it is as if it is playing but nothing is happening, rebooting phone fixes it.

Also the app pretty much never automatically opens. I get a notification to say it is starting and sometimes if I wait a few minutes it does eventually open...I have now just started unlocking my phone and opening manually

My Samsung S8 doesn't receive monthly updates anymore

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:24 PM PST

    Hi.

Until recently, my Samsung S8 have been getting system updates every month. But for some reason, my device doesn't receive updates anymore, and are still running on the September 1 security patch level.

Does anyone know why this is so?

I had my phone in for battery repairs a few weeks ago, and did a factory reset before sending the phone in for the repair, but I'm thinking this shouldn't be of any relevance.

Google Assistant not listening to follow up questions

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:57 PM PST

When I give Google Assistant a command that requires a follow up question, it seems to forget it asked me a question.

For example, if I say "Call Wife", it'll ask "Home or Mobile". I then say "Mobile", and when I do, it gives me internet search results for mobile.

Another example, I ask to text someone. It says ok what's the message, I say my message, "hey". Google then just says "Hi, how can I help?"

It doesn't seem to understand that it's awaiting a response from me any longer. What can I do to fix this?

    Thanks!
