Android 12 developer preview for Android TV

The Android 12 developer preview is available for the ADT-3.

Android 12 is available as a developer preview on the ADT-3 developer kit; the Android 12 developer preview for TV will be installed automatically through an OTA, or you can install the latest image manually.

Alternatively, you can use the Android Emulator for TV which allows you to try out these and other new user interface capabilities like window blurs.

Android 12 will begin appearing on TVs early this year**,** so now is the time to begin evaluating your app for compatibility.

AMD Link performance on android tv

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 08:21 AM PDT

Today, AMD released their new AMD Driver, with one of the sellers being AMD Link update. So I updated my drivers with my 6700XT, turned on my nvidia Shield TV, updated the app, and I get unbearable performance. AMD Link application works pretty much flawlessly on my phone though. So I started investigating. Turns out, that decoding delay on shield is 10 times that it is on my phone, Samsung Galaxy S10+. So under 10ms vs over 100ms. I don't think my phone is that much more powerful, so it doesn't make any sense to me. I'd guess its caused by AMD Link TV application being software accelerated, rather than hardware.

But what I wanted to ask is, could someone, with AMD GPU try it out on their non Shield TV, Android TV. So is the issue Shield TV specific, or is the whole application broken.

Upgrade system on Philips android TV

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 03:49 PM PDT

    Hey

I have a problem with my philips android tv. I reset the system, then I couldn't login into my google account, but I solved the problem. BUT another problem showed up, which is I couldn't find IPTV Smarters on google play. My current android sysytem is QM152E, and I have the latest version (2018).

I checked on Philips website, and I found that I have the latest version for my TV model.

So, How to upgrade the system and change it from QM152E to a new system?

Because, if my current system from 2018, then many apps will disappear now or later, so the TV will be useless.

JVC Android TV remote control issues

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 09:28 AM PDT

Hi, I've been having some issues with my remote controller lately. Everytime I switch off or put the tv on sleep mode the controller doesnt seem to be able to wake up the tv back again.

I've tried doing a re pair of the controller to the tv but goes back into doing it again after a day or so.

I've checked online and on the tv settings if i was missing an option but cant seem to find the specific issue.

I've used my phone to switch the tv on a few times when the remote wouldnt do anything and would start working once the tv is back on.

Lastly I've noticed it has a red or a dim white blinking light whenever it doesnt recognise the tv and a green light when it does.

    Free or cheap iptv apps

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 01:12 PM PDT

I'm new to streaming and just got a cheap android-tv device. I've managed to get a few apps like tubi and pluto working but I'm trying to find something that steams news, pbs, international channels etc for free or very cheap. I'm use ustvgo in the browser but can't find anything like it for the android tv.

Netflix No sound when next episode begins

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 01:12 PM PDT

Sound is fine with everything else. My daughter has to reboot her TV after watching an episode on Netflix to get sound for the next episode. No issues with Prime, Disney Plus etc.

Why doesn’t Hulu support surround sound.

    Posted: 17 Mar 2022 12:10 PM PDT

I have to use my Xbox to get surround sound. The android tv app doesn't support it. Why? Just curious.

Edit: or could it be that my surround sound system doesn't support Dolby digital plus and just regular Dolby digital?
