    Sub slowly fading away?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2022 03:17 AM PST

Very few comments or upvotes on most posts anymore

It seems the sub is slowly fading.

Maybe it's the daily "which game, that is in my history, but can't be bothered checking" questions, or the daily "recommend me a city building game/mmo?"questions.

Or the videos with no comments? Maybe a combo of all three and more.

Time for a rethink, or maybe it's my imagination?

    Any upcoming paid console/PC ports?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2022 11:58 PM PST

Im looking forward to any new console/PC ports coming soon. I already own most of the current stuff like Dead Cells, Pirates Outlaws, Castlevania, X-com, Monster Hunter etc. I'm looking for anything coming soon because it feels like there's nothing left for me to play.

Google play android. A game about trains and railways - a logic puzzle + a bit of action.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smadec.maxx.railroad

You build railroad tracks between cities and control trains with traffic lights and switches. I tried to add obstacles and restrictions to make it not boring to play. Part of the levels is made as action, part as a quest.
    I suggest you try!

    Resource Management Game

    Posted: 08 Mar 2022 02:24 AM PST

    Good day everyone,

I'm looking for a decent game that hopefully encompasses the following attributes:

    - Offline (Single Player)

    - Resource management (like, you build a building and resource of type X now is incrementing up)

    - Has some sort of tech tree to spend your resources on.

    - Has some manner of fighting against the AI.

    - Resources keep incrementing while idle

    Thank you all in advance!

    Cheers

    MMORPG Shooter ?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2022 03:58 AM PST

    Hey everyone,

I wonder if there is any MMORPG shooter game for android as black desert or albion but instead of swords and bows that old style weapons there are rifles and variety of modern combat weapons that you grind in an open world game with monsters and quests.

Would really love to hear your recommendations on this or anything that is like it

Okay, which AAA-games for smartphones were released over the last five-seven years?

    Posted: 08 Mar 2022 04:54 AM PST

Do you remember 2013 or years around it? On the dawn of Android (or iOS, but who cares about iOS here?) gaming, there were not only Angry Birds, Subway Surfer or Fruit Ninja. There were pretty good projects that used the maximum of devices' powers to render a 3D picture. Gangstar, N.O.V.A., Modern Combat series and other titles, not only from Gameloft. These series still exist, but now all of them are live-service games. Mobile platform is deeply, deeply unlucky to be used only for live-service games now... And I want to be proved wrong.

This post is some sort of a extended answer to this one. I'm not sure about this subreddit dying, but for the last seven years it feels like there's almost no AAA-games for a player who values not live-service stuff but complete projects with good quality. Seriously: such people are offered to play only old consoles' emulators or low-qualified and unnecessary ports of "big" games. There's nothing to actually talk about because the most of the games are nothing but money making machines for their developers and publishers. It feels like the whole mobile gaming is oriented on kids who don't value their parents' money. And I want to be proved wrong.

Please prove me wrong. Can you tell me if there are big 3D mobile exclusives, so called "premium" games that I call AAA-games for convenience, released over the last years? An inner schoolboy in me still wants, still hopes to see good 3D projects launched on a mobile device - but don't accept live-service shit that turns beautiful art into emotionless industry.

    Review: Super Mombo Quest

    Posted: 08 Mar 2022 04:04 AM PST

    SHORT REVIEW

Super Mombo Quest is a fluid platformer with buckets of charm and quirkiness. It's a simple metroidvania perfectly suited for mobile, provided you have an external controller and some persistence. As you explore the colourful world, you'll collect coins and crystals, and gain new abilities. Mombo is a joy to control, and mario-style head-jumping never gets old no matter how many alternative ways of taking out enemies are provided. Some rooms will require you to memorise them fairly closely to achieve full completion, but this hasn't necessary to finish the game. Bosses however will need you to know their patterns in order to beat them. As a free-to-play game, there's no reason why you shouldn't download Super Mombo Quest, especially if you have an external controller handy.

    DETAILED REVIEW

    Premise

Super Mombo Quest is a fluid platformer/metroidvania with buckets full of charm. It's perfectly suited for mobile, provided you have an external controller and some persistence. The game places you as the silent but slobbering Mombo, a hero from another dimension who is prophesied to defeat the evil King of Nightmares. Gameplay consists of exploring hundreds of rooms across several different realms: defeating enemies and bosses, collecting crystals and coins, and rescuing kidnapped animals.

Duration I completed the game with all coins and animals in 12.5 hours. Just completing the main story could probably be done in 6-7 hours or so.

Monetisation The game is monetised by ads and in-app purchases. I didn't see many ads at all, as I quickly realised this is a game I would be playing a lot, so I sprung for the Ultimate Mombo (or whatever it's called) IAP, which removes ads, doubles your crystal collection, and unlocks a custom skin. There's also a cheaper IAP that just removes ads, and one that gives you a bunch of crystals.

In-game economy In Super Mombo Quest you collect coins and crystals. You earn coins by completing objectives in each room, and need to have a certain number of coins in order to attempt boss fights. You collect crystals that float throughout rooms, and also earn them by defeating enemies - getting a combo will earn crystals faster. Crystals are used to unlock upgrades for Mombo. Some upgrades are permanent, while others have to be equipped in slots. You'll want to manage these well in order to beat certain rooms/bosses, maximise your crystal earnings, or travel easily through completed rooms. You can also spend crystals to unlock map upgrades, such as revealing hidden paths or checkpoint locations, or to replay the arena battles that unlock fast-travel locations.

Gameplay As you enter each room, you are given one or two tasks to complete. Each will give you a coin upon completion. The possible tasks are: - Collect every crystal in the room - Collect a coin hidden in the room - Get a Mombo Combo. This means you have to defeat every enemy in the room, without your combo bar depleting. Boss levels and totem (fast-travel) levels follow this format, with the latter sending enemies at you in waves. - Rescue an animal. These rooms are always optional challenge rooms, and the only in-game benefit is additional crystals, collected from the hub village. A task will only stay marked as complete if you exit the room without dying, with the exception of boss levels and totem (fast-travel) levels. In some environments, after you pass a certain point, you'll need to defeat the totem (fast-travel) arena battle before you can return to the rest of the world. You are given a warning before ending these areas. After completing each boss level, you unlock a new form for Mombo, with new abilities, allowing you to explore some previously inaccessible areas. The game is fairly simple compared to other metroidvanias, but in my opinion this makes it perfectly suited for mobile, and it never seems like it's lacking anything.

Controls Provided you use an external controller, the game flows incredibly well. Controls feel natural, and Mombo moves throughout levels with satisfying smoothness. I can't comment on the touch controls but I imagine they are not very easy to use given the level of precision required, and the other limitations of touch controls, e.g. only having two thumbs, and other fingers not being in a position to touch the screen.

Graphics As well as the fluid controls, this is where the game really shines. There's a massive variety of enemy designs which are all quirky and charming, as well as NPCs with larger and equally unique designs. The environments are perfectly crafted, and keep the game visually interesting while never getting in the way of gameplay.

Story The plot is there, but it's not a highlight. The motivation to progress in the game is more to unlock new areas and abilities, and collect coins, rather than to see how the story develops. The story does provide context for several lines of dialogue that made me chuckle. There are some story threads that feel like they never get proper explanation.

Bugs/Issues These are very few, and none are a major concern. - Whenever I re-launxhed the app, I would have to change the setting back to hide virtual controls again - Sometimes controller mapping resets when switching back and forth between different controllers - It's not made obvious that your can switch between the default skin and the new skin unlocked by IAP (you can only do this when standing next to the village statue which prompts you to rate the game)

    Old Gun mobile game

    Posted: 07 Mar 2022 10:04 PM PST

So it's been forever since I've played this game so I'm sorry if the details aren't very good. I'm gonna try my best though.

So I remember a blue background and your started off with a basic pistol. It was a white glove hand no body. And I believe it stayed on the left side of the screen. Well you could shoot at targets and say there was a target coming at you and it's health was 5, it too 2 shots to destroy it. Then you could face a "boss" which is another gloved hand and a gun and you shoot and try to kill it. Every boss had a better gun so you had to upgrade.

Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about. I believe they even made a second version as well.

    Let ne know please
