Searching for a bluetooth TV remote app

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 02:26 PM PST

Hey, so is there an app that would work over BT?

All I can find are apps that require my phone to connect to the same wifi as the TV's on, but I got it set up over eth cable anyway due to the size of the house and thick brick walls.

TV is Philips 70PUS 7900 series.

My mi box is not showing on mi remote app (or any remote app)

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 01:37 PM PST

    Hey guys,

I purchased a mi box s and I wanted to use my cellphone( a Xiaomi mi 9t pro, but I also tried with my girlfriend's iPhone 11) as a remote control, but my mi box simply does not appear on any remote apps available, it states on the mi remote app that it should appear there if it was on the same network but it doesn't... Chromecast seem to be working fine since I can cast from Netflix for example, anyone has any idea what can be done if anything?

Handsfree speech control of TV available?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 10:28 AM PST

I'm looking for a new TV where I can control most used features using speech only. That would be: volume control, channel selection, sleep timer. Some TVs have speech recognition, but as far as I've seen you have to press a button on a remote. But if I have to grab my remote anyway I'm faster using standard buttons. So is there any AndroidTV solution where I just can say something like "Ok Google switch to channel XYZ"?

How to completely turn off tv

    Posted: 12 Nov 2021 05:36 PM PST

Definition of first world problem…Sorry if already discussed, just bought a Google tv chromecast and hooked it up to 5 year old LG tv. Everything works and looks great however when I click to turn off tv or ask Google assistant to turn off tv it only turns off the chromecast and the tv stays on "searching for signal". Not sure if it's the television or something in settings I'm missing.

I’ve made an app for controlling Philips Hue smart lights from your Android TV remote. Looking for feedback!

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 08:37 AM PST

(Sorry mods if this breaks any rules, feel free to delete)

I'm hoping people might find a little app I've made called Hue Shortcuts useful and I'm eager to get some early feedback. It's totally free with no in-app purchases.

It's for Android smart TVs/set top boxes to control Philips Hue smart lights. Use the app to create shortcuts to Hue lights/scenes and run them from spare buttons on your remote. For example my Sony TV has never-used buttons for HELP, TELETEXT, Netflix, etc - now they turn lights on or off instead.

Once you set up shortcuts and assign a button you can run them any time the TV is on regardless of what you're watching. Or create a shortcut to the app UI which just slides out over whatever you're doing and gives you quick access to run other shortcuts.

Search for Hue Shortcuts in the Play Store on your TV or see the store listing here:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.mcneill.hueshortcuts

All feedback/ideas/complaints are welcome. I made this for myself but I hope others like it too. Thanks!

Amazon Fire Cube or Mecool KM2?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 03:39 PM PST

Missed out on the Amazon Fire Cube when it was £60 recently as couldn't decide between that or the Mecool KM 2. If Amazon drop their price again then the price is comparable to the KM2. Don't mind the "ads" on Amazon or the OS but not a fan of the remote, KM2 has Android TV but coming from China, the warranty will be limited.

Has anyone tried both and how do they compare with each other?

    Cheers

Google home app has added Android tV/Google TV remote inside the app

    Posted: 11 Nov 2021 11:17 AM PST

If anyone still don't know. Google home app has now added the Google TV / Android TV remote. Just click on the device and at the bottom left corner you will see the Open Remote button. But for this you will require Google home app update to 2.46 version Google home app 2.46: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-home/google-home-2-46-1-7-release/google-home-2-46-1-7-android-apk-download/
