Pretty much as in the title. Sometimes it wakes me up, otherwise it's just mildly irritating. What can I do about it?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2021 07:56 AM PDT

I just installed the newest Chromecast with google TV. Is there a way to have my Doorbell image show up on the TV when the bell rung? I can stream to the TV so I know there is a connection.

Netflix mods for uncertified devices stop working.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2021 07:52 AM PDT

It seems over the past few days. People who have been using dealaxer's method ( see XDA) Of modding the Netflix APK to use the service on uncertified devices no longer can run the app. Now as soon as you launch the app you are faced with an error: n-6-404.

I am wondering if Netflix has stopped working for any other devices out there aside from one's using this mod

    Control system volume on CCWGTV

    Posted: 22 Oct 2021 07:22 AM PDT

I have my Chromecast with GoogleTV plugged into a monitor with speakers, so CEC isn't an option. I had assumed that the volume buttons on the remote would just control the AndroidTV system volume, but they don't do anything.

In fact, I can't figure out a way to adjust the volume at all. I've even tried Button Mapper, but the commands it has for volume +/- don't do anything, and it doesn't recognize the remote's volume buttons when I try to add a custom button.

Is there any way to control the OS volume if it's plugged into something that doesn't use a remote for volume control? If not this device, is there a different AndroidTV device that would work?

I mostly want to use this to cast to, but adjusting the volume control on my phone while casting doesn't do anything either.

Trying to cast a Anime from my Android 10 phone, to my Philips TV (55OLED805/12) but it doesn't work. Tried with VPN off, and tried different browsers none work.

Mac won’t recognise google tv external storage device

    Posted: 22 Oct 2021 04:49 AM PDT

I've just set up my new chromecast with googletv and in the process, I was asked to format the connected flash drive (via a USB-C hub). I've done this before so I pressed format with the intention of later connecting it to my computer to transfer roms, apk's etc. Problem is my mac won't recognise the drive 🤦🏻‍♂️. The strange thing is, prior to formatting it, it was connected to my Mac as I was backing up files from my old google tv.

How do I get my Mac to recognise the USB drive so that I can transfer files to it? I don't have access to a PC right now.

Method to get Old Android TV remote working.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 12:11 PM PDT

Any way to get the old Android TV remote app working? The new one in the Google TV app is so buggy and I can only get 1 of my devices to show up (Walmart Onn UHD). It's annoying me because I never had this issue before with the old remote.

Update: Had to go in the play store and update "Android TV Remote Service". I will leave this up just in case anyone else has the same issue.

ShieldTV or Nokia 8000 easier to add a custom launcher?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2021 12:02 AM PDT

I bought the shield but returned it because I couldn't find an easy guide for a launcher. I then came across Nokia 8000 and that seems promising. Looking around for Nokia I found other launchers for Nvidia, so now I'm looking for advice from anyone who has tried Nokia or both. I have always had an Android box and I like to have a minimal desktop.

Laggy Android TV after software update to 8.0.0

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 10:49 PM PDT

I have a Sony Bravia 4K Android TV with software version 8.0.0 running on it. After the latest update, the sound and video have become very laggy and patchy. It's pretty annoying. I tried clearing the cache. I even did a factory reset and the problem still exists.

It feels like Sony or Google have intentionally done this to force people to buy new products.

Anyone know what's causing this and how I can fix it? Can't I revert back the software?

    Thanks

tcl r646 - msos utopia connected to router

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 04:36 PM PDT

so i picked up the new tcl today, set it up and connected to the internet via wifi. i see the tv called "google tv" connected to my router but then a new "device", "msos utopia" also got connected. a quick google search showed its malware? i saw another reddit post saying it's a tcl tv and it's the name of the os/wifi module. the mac address on the msos utopia device didn't match the mac address on my tv so i set a filter to deny that mac address. once i did that the internet on my tv didn't work anymore. i removed the rule and the internet on the tv works again. what's also weird is the tv is called "r646" on my router instead of "google tv". should i be concerned?

I can't get my Android TV to connect to our wifi.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2021 10:06 AM PDT

I have tried many things, such as factory reset. But I just can't get it to work. What's more frustrating is our phones and pc work. Can someone give me some tips for this?
