“My phone is listening to my conversations”: not paranoia but a legitimate concern, researchers find. Eavesdropping may not be detected by current security mechanisms, and could even be conducted via inconspicuous smartphone motion sensors.

Quick question: Y'all listen to radio on your phone? Live online or via FM?

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 08:45 AM PDT

I wonder how many people on Android actually listen to the radio with it. I used to all the time but have switched to podcasts over time. I still check out the radio occasionally tho, it has a special place in my heart because I grew up with radio.

For those who have to manually update your apps, here is a solution!

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 07:32 AM PDT

Google resolved the issue I was having by following these steps (these steps may vary between phones):

Step 1 - Go to setting > Apps > find Google Play Store and open Storage & cache to clear both.

Step 2 - Go back once and select the three dots at the top left to "uninstall updates"

Step 3 - Close settings and Google Play Store

Step 4 - Open Google Play Store and install any app that comes to mind.

Step 5 - Uninstall the app if you like.

This should resolve the issue and your apps will be updating automatically form now on.

Digital Wellbeing idea, unlocking time by walking.

    Posted: 05 Oct 2021 02:59 AM PDT

Not sure if this is an original idea, I doubt it as it seems too obvious but tried searching and can't see it.

The idea is to tie allow usage time of certain apps to number of steps done. So for example you could have an app with a limited usage allowance you unlock portions of by completing steps.

An optional extra would be if you've used your time up you could unlock some extra by going for a walk/run.
