New Onn 4K box - can’t install Prime Video app because it’s allegedly incompatible Posted: 24 Sep 2021 09:38 PM PDT I just bought one of those $30 Onn Android TV boxes to replace the CCwGTV that I'm sending to my parents to replace their aged Apple TV 3G. Everything seemed to be going fine, more or less, until I tried to install the Prime Video app. I couldn't find it in the Google Play store so I did a voice search for it and found it that way. The problem is that it says that it's incompatible with my device. Huh? I did all of the system updates on the box when I first plugged it in and it's running some version of 10, not 10.5 (which I understand is the current release of the OS). I did a search online and the best advice that I could find was to clear the two caches for the Play Store; I did that but it didn't make a difference. How on Earth do I install the app? Can I sideload it via a USB stick, OTG through the USB micro port? Is there something else I need to do? [link] [comments]
Installing CCWGTV APK on Android TV Posted: 25 Sep 2021 07:49 AM PDT Could anyone help me how to or at least tell me if it is possible to install other versions of the APK than the December 2020 one (LauncherX)?. I'm still stuck with that one; every single time I install new versions named Google TV it crash after y try different menus or power off the tv. [link] [comments]
New Android/Google TV Virtual Remote feature finally working Posted: 24 Sep 2021 11:37 AM PDT Manage to get latest Android TV Remote Service v5.0 app that is required for the new remote to pair with Android/Google TV device. For those who haven't received the update, can download the app from here: Download and install the app on your Android/Google TV device. Once installed, the old Android TV remote app can't be used unless the update is uninstalled. Also make sure to update GBoard app to v11.0. (Should be available now via Google Playstore) Pics: http://imgur.com/a/fPnSvN4 Edit: Also the new remote is not region locked. To access the new remote:- [link] [comments]

Finer control over closed Caption size? Posted: 24 Sep 2021 11:46 PM PDT Hey all, I'm using TiviMate on a MECOOL KM6 running Android TV. I've enabled closed captioning for the live streams, but I've noticed there isn't much control over CC font size. The default value (normal) is larger than what I'm used to with the CC size from my cable provider, but the next size down (small) is ridiculously smaller. I'm hoping for something in between that won't cover as much of the screen while still being legible. It uses the Android TV accessibility settings for CC, so I figured there might be an app I could install that would allow for finer control over the size, but for the life of me I can't find if any exist. Does such a thing even exist? Or is something like that even possible? Any information is greatly appreciated, thank you. [link] [comments]
Fixing automatic resolution downswitching on Android TV Posted: 24 Sep 2021 10:42 PM PDT This isn't actually a question, but all the threads I found when looking for an answer were archived, so I'm taking the liberty to just post my own answer in a new thread, so that hopefully it helps someone. The problem is apparently ROM-independent, but may be Android version-dependent, as some people mentioned downgrading or upgrading as a solution. My ROM is a "Vortex" custom ROM, I believe Android 9. Anyway, the issue is that selecting 4k for screen resolution in the Android settings will only hold for a period of time — until you either restart the box or it goes into sleep mode and is woken back up. It then reverts to either 1080p, 720p, or 480p apparently — in my case it was simply 1080p60 each time. There are suggestions to enable "automatically select best screen resolution," but it seems that — like me — if you have this issue, that selector is greyed out. There are also suggestions to enable HDMI-CEC, which I found odd, as HDMI-CEC AFAIK doesn't have anything to do with negotiating screen resolutions — that's what EDID is for. Unsurprisingly, this didn't have any effect on my box. What DID work for me was disabling Dolby Vision in the Android settings. I'm not even sure my TV supports Dolby Vision, though I believe it might (it's an old LG B6 OLED). But either way, not only does this fix the automatic undoing of my screen resolution configuration, it also enables me to select the "automatically choose best resolution" setting — but I haven't enabled that — and to enable resolutions above 2160p30. Previously, with the issue existing and Dolby Vision enabled, the max I could select was 30 Hz 4k. I can now select 60 Hz 4k. So, just to share this finding with any one of you that may be in the same boat, or any one in the future Googlefacing for this problem. Try disabling Dolby Vision and see what happens. Cheers, Daniel [link] [comments]
Will I be able to cast to my android TV if it is connected to my modem through LAN Posted: 24 Sep 2021 10:21 PM PDT Currently I've connected my android TV through WIFI and I'm able to cast. Creating an application icon that launches a web page? Posted: 24 Sep 2021 12:36 PM PDT I am wondering if there is a way to create an application icon that is a shortcut for a specific url? I am running a plex server on unraid and am using a program called overseerr to manage media requests. I have a custom domain with a subdomain for overseerr. Is there any way to make a shortcut in android tv so that my kid can go directly to the subdomain without having to bring it up in a regular browser? My client is a shield tv if that makes a difference. [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Sep 2021 03:37 PM PDT My sceptre 4k android tv has this weird motion effect that I can't fix, I looked through the whole tv settings and I can't seem to find the right setting for it. Any time there is dark image in motion it flickers the black part of the image. For example if there is a tree the leaves look choppy when the camera is moving. Any help will be appreciated. Apps not working on Aptoide TV Posted: 24 Sep 2021 02:55 PM PDT I just got a brand new beautiful Sony Bravia TV and I just downloaded Downloader and AptoideTV Some of the apps that I'm downloading work great, but there are apps that say they are compatible with my TV but when I download them, I can only see a rectangle of the app and I end up just uninstalling it. Some of these apps seem to have worked on my old Vizio TV but it just seems like the proportions are all screwed up when I try to run the app. I would include a picture but I don't know how to include one on here. I was wondering if anybody else had any trouble downloading apps from Aptoide TV that did not work appropriately on their Android TV? Thank you so much everybody [link] [comments]

MECOOL KM6 Deluxe doesn’t awake from sleep. Posted: 24 Sep 2021 10:41 AM PDT I just received my MECOOL KM6 Deluxe box 5 days ago and I find out that the device will not awake from sleep/suspend mode with the remote control and it won't power on with a remote, I tried leaving emails to Mecool's official website requesting a firmware update but they haven't responded in 3 days. Has anyone had a issue like this? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Posted: 24 Sep 2021 01:55 PM PDT I was looking for a cheap TV box to play movies off a USB HDD and to watch IPTV. Found this one for 55€ and it's got the S905X3, what do you guys think? https://www.amazon.es/dp/B07RXSRN3X/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_WVK5J26994WKAMR9A5SK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I know people will recommend the Mecool KM2 but it's 25€ more than this one. Yeah it has Netflix certifications and google certified but I don't really care about that, I'm just gonna use it for IPTV and VLC [link] [comments] |
