I'd like to send simple commands like "play/pause" or "launch Netflix" to my Android TV from a computer. Is it possible with HTTP requests?

I recently bought a Mecool KM6 deluxe just 3 weeks ago. When I go to turn it on it fails to output anything on my tv, just says HDMI No signal.

The white light at the front is still blinking. Anyone else had this issue before?

Cannot log into Google services on Android TV

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 06:41 AM PDT

    Hi,

I've recently bought a TCL 43C725 TV. The TV itself is working fine, however Google on it has a serious problem for me.

I can use Youtube, Prime Video and Netflix no problem, regardless of being logged in or not. I can also use Google Assistant, BUT ONLY WHEN NOT LOGGED IN. Finally, I cannot use anything else basically, because Google Play Store doesn't work. It just refuses to work when I log in, and of course it needs a login. I cannot download Spotify, Movies from Google Play Movies or anything else for that matter.

Does anyone have anything that could help me? I've already restarted and changed google accounts, nothing helped. Not even a factory reset. Removing updates from Google Play Store app and restarting also did not help.

    Best regards

Brand new stick, but no remote. Can't get passed "pairing remote" screen.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 08:22 PM PDT

Friend gave me his Onn. Stick. It's factory reset, but he couldn't find the remote, so I can't get past the setup. Is there an app that will let me pair my phone as the remote. I tried Google TV app and the old remote control app, but neither show the device because it's never been on my Wi-Fi. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Ongoing issues with the GoogleTV TCL 6 series R646

    Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:54 AM PDT

So myself along with others had a lot of issues with the tv right when it came out. Not being able to get into apps, settings issues, aspect ratio, etc.

I know I myself was criticized by not knowing the difference between Android OS and Google UI (though to be fair, if I'm having an issue with one, and they're bundled as the same thing, it doesn't matter "who" I'm having the issue with, the fact is I'm still having the issue).

Well, 3 weeks later I am still having issues with the GoogleTV TCL 2021 6 series 55" tv. I miss the Roku but I was excited for the new enhancements of this version. I mean, I didn't know I'd miss the Roku at the time; but I do now.

The aspect ratio game with this tv/software/interface is just… it just doesn't work. I can launch Ted Lasso on AppleTV+ app and notice they look slightly stretched, and then I'll navigate into the settings to see the "aspect ratio" set at 16:9 as a default? First of all, why would any manufacturer or OS make that a forced default? So I turned on "auto detect" and it actually corrected it for a second. Giving the picture tiny bars horizontally and everything looked fine - for a minute until it just switched back to the 16:9 look.

For Amazon Prime I was watching both Fleabag and 30 Rock to look into the issue. They both looked terrible. Fleabag suffered even worse than Ted Lasso, because it has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. And it would NOT change it, I just kept looking at her long face looking even longer. As for 30 rock, season 2 episode 1 opens with a Seinfeld montage where he does the deal or no deal cases and it has a text box at the bottom, and it cut off half the sentence. I tried the auto detect and in neither scenario did it fix it.

This is not to mention some of the terrible color and contrast issues I've had on certain apps, once again most notably Prime. I tried to watch Late Night, a Prime original, and it looked like I had the brightness set to 20 and contrast 0. I did not.

Also lastly to confirm it's multiple apps - if you try to watch a vertical video in YouTube (don't ask; but it's common for K-Pop groups and usually can exceed 1080 anyways) it retains the correct verticals borders but stretches the image - so you're only seeing half the image, but in the same borders. Honestly the whole thing makes no sense and I've never had a tv experience this messy. And I've loved my TCL Roku TVs.

    What is happening?

Philips tv won’t let me accept the Freeview Play terms and conditions. iPlayer just crashes whenever I open it. Any ideas please?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 01:28 PM PDT

I have had an ongoing issue with BBC iplayer on my 55PUS8204/12.

Whenever I click on the BBC iplayer app, it opens up the Freeview Play Accept Terms page. It says I need to accept the manufacturer's terms before using the services and gives me the option to either "cancel" or "terms and conditions". If I click "terms and conditions", the app just closes and I'm back to the main apps page.

My Freeview channels are all working fine on the antenna. The wifi is connected to the TV with no issues on any other non-Freeview play apps.

Any idea how I fix this please?

    Thanks!

Maybe getting an android tv for mom to watch her chinese dramas.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 11:25 AM PDT

As the title says, I'm currently looking into 'android tv' because internet says they're the most versatile and the best.
Here's the thing, I have no idea how these tv works as I solely watch stuff on my computer.
    So...
Can a android tv stream off from browsers while having adblock in it? like watching content from sites with obnoxious pop up ads whenever you play/pause and they create a new tab just so you have to close it?

tldr: Basically, if possible. I want to know the steps to have a PC chrome with adblock experience. and like the relevant info to set that up. Thanks.

How can I map color buttons on my remote?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2021 12:28 PM PDT

I just bought a TCL Android TV (link here. I've downloaded an emulator app, but some of the options (like the search function) require the use of that color buttons (red, green, yellow, blue) you get on some remotes. This remote doesn't have those.

Can anyone help with this? Can I remap the existing buttons on the remote somehow? Or is there a remote app that I can use one my phone to control the TV?
