The Tab S7+ is handling 4k 10bit like a boss right now. I know people dont know if the S7+ can handle video editing but it can. No big youtuber talks about it, so I'll be that little guy to show you. Now PowerDirector is the best program I can find on Android to edit.

There's a phone in industry hands that's getting people very excited

    Posted: 23 Sep 2021 03:07 PM PDT

I've now spotted a few Twitter accounts with good reason to be in possession of a pre-release phone who have tweeted how incredible it is.

We have Mrwhosetheboss, the English tech reviewer with 8m YouTube subscribers tweeting:

Holy moly - I've just started using a phone, that takes the best photos I've seen by a MILE. It's not the iPhone...

Then there's Ustav Techie, a tech reviewer from India with 600k subscribers tweeting

The Phone I am using, It has literary the most amazing camera.... The technology behind the camera (love eyes emoji)

Then there's a senior product manager at 3, one of the main British carrier tweeting

So wish I could tweet about a phone I am using! Anyone who buys this one is gonna absolutely love it!...

There was one more from a person with good reason to have a phone early but who has deleted the message (they had even provided a photo taken from the phone ) so I won't name them or share the picture but they said:

Absolutely love the camera on this new phone, so much detail and natural colours.... It's out in a couple of months.

If they are all talking about the same phone, what are we thinking?

    • Pixel 6 Pro?
    • Vivo X70 Pro Plus?
    • P50 Pro?

FYI: The Apple TV App kind of works on Android Tablets

    Posted: 23 Sep 2021 06:27 PM PDT

I was getting tired of using the website for Apple TV+ on my Tab S7 so I got the Apple TV Android TV APK and installed it which worked, but it didn't show up in the launcher, so I found an "Android TV Launcher" App, and I was able to launch it from there. After that I was able to navigate it with a wireless keyboard I have plugged in, signed in and played my show, I don't know if I'm getting 1080p/4k though.

AMA - just got the ZTE Axon 30 5G last night here in the U.S. and using it on T-Mobile.

Brief review. Coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro.

    PROS

    • So light and thin compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro, pretty easy to hold one handed (although it is admittedly hard to reach the top of the screen one handed)
    • Very clean UI
    • Beautiful screen
    • Great performance
    • In-display fingerprint reader is fast (despite one review saying it is not)
    • Super fast charging, 0-100% in < an hour

    CONS

    • Selfie cam (obviously)
    • Only one OS update
    • Doesn't support Band 71 for 5G on T-mobile (supports the other bands however)
    • Speakerphone is mono (although DTS sound with earbuds is great)
    • No wireless charging
    • No waterproofing or dust proofing

    SURPRISES

    • The box was absolutely mangled when it arrived with a huge chunk of it missing; very surprised the additional earbuds and case didn't fall out.
    • They included a USB C to 3.5 MM cable, but didn't include wired headphones. I wonder if it's because they gave me free earbuds for ordering early.
    • Some reviewers said there is face unlock. There is NOT.
    • No sound on Xbox Gamepass. Still troubleshooting.
    • Fits inside a Razer Kishi controller. Barely.
    • Not a fan of the clear case they included (although appreciate the thought), but they also included a black case since I ordered day 1 and that case is wonderful - thin and hard.

    Chrome OS under Android

    Posted: 23 Sep 2021 04:35 PM PDT

Hi people. This is kind of a suggestion / question. Don't know where to post it really, so I try here.

We all know about Samsung DeX, right? It works like this; You connect your Samsung Android phone to an external monitor and possibly a keyboard/mouse and get their Desktop eXperience. Hence DeX.

Would it be possible (with quite a lot of development of course) to implement the same functionality into the Android Core, but instead of starting up DeX, it starts Chrome OS when connecting to the external monitor?

    1. Does Chrome OS run on the same architecture as Android?
    2. If above is true I suppose it would have to run under some sort of virtualization?
    3. Wouldn't it be crazy cool?

    Thanks for your time.
