I'd like to override some noise reduction, "HDR" and sharpness filters on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and Xperia 1 III but neither let me do that in the native app. I tried Open Camera but it didn't give me any choice there either. | Posted: 13 Aug 2021 11:36 AM PDT There are SEVERAL instances where you want to switch between apps without having to do things all over. That could be going from the browser to authenticators or host apps for connected stuff that have a lengthy pairing process. It's a bit subtle too, but you notice the page refresh, cleared forms or the intro splash screens if an app has one. I noticed this on Android 11 on my recent Galaxy Note 10 Ultra and Xperia 1 III. Back in the days my HTC's and Google Nexus shut down apps that had not been in use for a long time - when needed. Now if I swap between apps once and their states and memory stored data are lost. How do I tell the OS to stop "optimizing" like that? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Aug 2021 11:36 AM PDT I know about ADB, and maybe that's not strictly speaking "third party", but I feel like there should be a toggle for this in the settings somewhere I'm just missing. Frankly I'm surprised there's not a whole submenu under development options that let you check/uncheck individual battery saver features. | How to cancel updates available in play store Posted: 12 Aug 2021 10:51 PM PDT I switched from the Samsung Internet browser to Brave, but I'm not able to uninstall/disable Samsung Internet. I'd be fine with that, but in the play store Samsung Internet has a pending update and I can't get it to go away. Does anyone know how to get rid of the update or even better uninstall the app? | Work (School) Profile Question [Galaxy S20] Posted: 13 Aug 2021 11:18 AM PDT I have a school email that all students and staff have at my high school, but I'm unable to properly use it on android. Every time I try to access a spreadsheet, document, etc using the account android shoves me into making a work profile. This wouldn't be an issue, if not for when I did make a work profile for it only about 3 apps were available, all of which being useless. I haven't been able to actually use my school account on my phone for over a year because of this. I understand that the administration are the ones allowing the apps on that work profile, but I'm seeing if there's any way I can work around actually trying to get my school to listen to me, and for my school email to function like all my other ones. Also, I use Spark as my mail app, and that works perfectly fine with my school email. Not sure if that's just an email app thing or a Spark thing, but interesting nonetheless. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 13 Aug 2021 10:14 AM PDT I'm dealing with a issue where when I empty my Gmail spam the spam will go away but when I look at the spam folder again It still says it's there. When I look in the folder again it will still be gone but it will return a while later. I've tried deleting it on my laptop and it'll work just fine so it seems restricted to my phone hence why I'm here. Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
| Samsung S7 Audio drops on bluetooth Posted: 13 Aug 2021 09:30 AM PDT Hey all, I have a weird technical issue I'm trying to troubleshoot. My Samsung Galaxy S7 has a bluetooth audio bug on my car phone during calls. I don't suspect the car phone yet, but I've been using it for 4 years, 3 without the issue. What will happen is that the phone will be paired, indicate connection, and suddenly the audio switches from car speakers to my phone. I believe my audio is still through the car microphone but that's hard to test. From my perspective I just hear audio quietly from my phone with no warning. There is no indication on either the car's display or on the phone that anything is wrong. Blue tooth icon is indicating pairing, and phone shows it is paired and the phone app shows audio is to blutooth. If I hit the speaker phone button and revert to bluetooth it works again. This issue has no rhyme or reason when it starts. I'm at a loss where to even start with this, as I said *all* visual indications are that it's working. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears! Thanks! You can skip this part but I have some inconsistent details I've noted and been attempting to verify. I think I've noticed a link between plugging in the power cable and this problem. I've tried plugging unpluging repeatedly and without having my phone on a charger...still can't say for sure this is related or not. It appears to be the case this happens sooner in the drive to later. I've had hour plus conversations on the interstate where this problem never occurs, or occurs a few times at first then never later. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 13 Aug 2021 08:17 AM PDT It worked fine last week before I got my new phone. I've called dozens of other numbers and it's just this family member that doesn't work. The person who is receiving my call has a flip phone (a new one too). They don't have the same problem when receiving calls from other numbers. And if they call me then I can hear them fine, it's just when I call them. This is a bizarre problem. We both use Verizon and we're on the same family plan. [link] [comments] |

I went to unlock it and I couldn't remember my new password. Can I get access to my phone again without getting all the apps photos settings etc deleted? Or even transfer the files on my pc? | Custom screen DPI goes back to default Posted: 13 Aug 2021 03:18 AM PDT Xiaomi Mi A3, latest Android 11, no root. I can go to developers settings and set custom DPI - 450 for example. But after couple days it goes back to factory one (As I see in the device, in settings still value that I set is stored). Then I have to enter the settings again, change value a little and save again. Is any way without root to prevent changing DPI to default value or adding some shortcut to quick change DPI? Posted: 12 Aug 2021 05:31 PM PDT While charging nothing is wrong, but when I unplug the charger my screen turns on and when I try to turn it off it instantly turns back on. It started after the phone gave me a moisture warning for moisture that wasn't there. The phone has never been wet, the moisture issue stops if I fiddle with the charger cable. Now when it's not plugged in it acts as if there is a cable being connected and disconnected and the screen won't sleep. This is killing my battery! (The cable I'm currently using isn't the original, I think that the moisture waring is due to this, but I don't know why the screen doesn't turn off.) [link] [comments] |

I kept my old S8 around in case I needed a backup, but I could give it to him for the time being. During this time I got in the habit of not using a phone protector. In my first walk into the city since getting vaccinated I dropped my phone in an unfortunate way and shattered the screen. I can now only see the top 10%. I can't see the chrome cast icon unfortunately. I have a Elgato Camlink (the small Usb one) and a USBC-HDMI cable if that helps [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 13 Aug 2021 02:39 AM PDT TL;DR: I have a Nexus 7 2012 (WiFi) tablet, and I would like a device dedicated to providing me a way to stream music, preferably Spotify, without dealing with the somewhat heavy Android. How do I do this? I have many old music systems at home, and all they have as input is the 3.5 mm jack. Currently, the way I deal with it is that I fire up Spotify on my phone and connect it up. I then use Spotify Connect through my laptop to control music. However, I would like to have a device dedicated to this (so that my phone's free, as I get a lot of calls), and I can't just run Spotify on the Nexus and leave it because Android ultimately kills it. Is there a way I can make the tablet run just a small Spotify app, but not kill it all the time? Perhaps on top of a light Linux distro? I have never rooted anything or flashed a ROM, but I don't mind doing that. Experimental approaches are okay, I don't mind bricking the device. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Aug 2021 06:22 PM PDT When I use the default file explorer,SD maid etc, it shows a total of 112 GB despite being 128. But that's relatively common. What's really strange is how it says 85GB used but when I check to see more detail it becomes 59 GB used? Where is all that space going to? Also it says that there are 10 GB of docs but actually they're not even 1 GB? What's happening to the storage [link] [comments] |
