App removed due to "Disruptive Ads" policy

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 06:37 AM PDT

    Hello fellow developers,

1 week ago, I received email from Google Play inform that my app was removed due to violating "Disruptive Ads" policy. They asked me to upload a new compliant version. After reviewed the policy carefully, I'm still not sure how and where my app violated the mentioned policy, my app shows Native Ads Advanced format from Admob and followed their design guideline.

Stuck and don't know what to fix, I submitted an appeal and asked for more information. The support replied to me that after reviewed, my app did violate the policy and copied exactly the same content from Google policy page. I replied gently to him that I spent time to check but couldn't find any similar issues mentioned on policy page. I once again asked for some screenshots or video recording show exactly where my app violated the issue and again he keep sending me the policy page. I wonder if Google really wants me to fix the violation.

Since I couldn't find any help from Google support, I tried to modify my ads here and there a little bit and tried to submit again but it keep being rejected. This keeps repeating around 10 times.

2 days after my app was removed from Play Store, I received warning from Admob that it's going to limit my ad serving because my app is not live on Play Store. I was frustrated and didn't know what to do, I gave up and removed all my ads. I don't want Admob to disable my app and don't want to lose my daily installs for too long. After tested to make sure there's no ads showing this time, I submitted to Play Store and wait for review. To my surprise, my app without showing any ads still get rejected because of "Disruptive Ads" policy.

I now have no clue how to fix this violation, support doesn't want to help. Ads does not show but still get rejected because of "Disruptive Ads" policy. Is there anyone encounter similar issue before ? Much appreciated for your help.

Looking for a 3D graphics framework for a mechanical engineering app

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 06:38 AM PDT

Back story: I developed an app called Mobile Multibody Dynamics using Kivy. It includes 3D animation of a mechanism simulation, it works, and is published on the play store. The Kivy side of things has hit a wall as the App has started to crash on start with certain newer devices (including my own), and so I am in process of porting to native Android Kotlin.

I'm looking for a 3D renderer that can be embedded in one of the Kotlin fragments. I'd really like to write the logic for the rendering in Kotlin, which I think takes something like Unity out of consideration. OpenGL seems to be a huge learning curve. Currently reading up on Google Filament and Sceneform, but get the impression they are not supported. So … what are you all using these days for such a thing?

How do package disabler apps work, and is it possible to make my own to avoid having to use shady apps on the store?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2021 07:16 AM PDT

Posting here in the hopes that more people will know the internal working of these apps than the people at r/AndroidQuestions.

I am in quite an annoying position with one of my phones. I am trying to make my LG G3 at least somewhat useable, and for that I need to get rid of all the Sprint crap bogging it down.

This usually wouldn't be an issue. Just fire up adb, then adb shell pm disable everything (Hell, I would just flash LineageOS, fuck LG UX). Problem is, the phone has a fried USB port, that will only take charge. It is impossible to get data across, even in download mode and using multiple cables. The port also has that burnt electronics smell to it, so I'm guessing a fuse on the phone's board is blown and took out the data transfer on the port. Because of this, I have no way of using adb to disable the apps. I can't root the phone without USB access either, as that requires a PC as well. There is also now adb over WiFi, I checked. So, my last option is to somehow disable the apps with just the phone itself (the apps I need to disable from Sprint have the disable button grayed out in settings, so that way is a no go)

So, that led me to these shitty package disablers. They're shady AF, and it seems they get removed from the Play Store all the time, just for another clone to show up and charge $2.99 again.

So, here's my question - Does anyone know how to replicate it's functionality, or if a free less shady alternative exists that can disable apps?

I know that package disablers use the device administrator functionality to disable apps, but I'm not exactly sure how.

Open source, unique & mega customisable seek bar!

Hello, I would like to share my open source library which I wrote during my free time!
Stars would be appreciated, but only if you like it 😊

    https://github.com/edgar-zigis/LabeledSeekSlider

    https://i.redd.it/v8u9kagulki71.gif

25 different attributes, ability to change anything from colours, fonts, text sizes to dimensions. It has also a neat disabled state which grayscales everything and disables ability to slide.

Hopefully it will be useful to you!

    Custom lockscreen question

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 07:32 PM PDT

Hello everyone, I just recently ordered an android phone for the first time in my life after being an ios user for the last 8 years or so. I had a random idea today that I thought would be funny since I love climbing I thought it would be funny to make it so I unlock my phone by clipping a rope into a carabiner. Is it possible to make custom locks on android devices? I searched around a little bit and saw a few apps where you basically disable the real lock and then i guess it just runs a background app until you turn the phone on. I'm also excited to start being able to develop some other android apps as I've been limited to using stuff like xamarin since I never had an android and didnt have a mac either to deploy to ios.

Any direction or buzzwords for me to look up would be appreciated.

    Thank guys!

It seems there is no way to use Android developer options with non-owner user accounts

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 04:41 PM PDT

I created a secondary Android user, but Developer options which I enabled first from the owner account is not available, and even when I change a developer setting in the owner account, the change is not passed/does not apply to the secondary user account.

Question about a gaming app on resume?

    Posted: 20 Aug 2021 12:47 PM PDT

So I'm not an app developer and I majored in Journalism. Last semester I took a mobile app class where I was in a team of 3 CS majors and we developed a gaming app. I designed the UI, made the characters and did some coding. I was wondering if I could put it on my resume as "team project" or should I include it in my cover letter for the job?
