| Thinking about switching back to android after one week of iOS Posted: 18 Jul 2021 10:28 AM PDT I got a 12 pro max, partly because of peer pressure from people at work and partly because I wanted to try it out, not gonna lie the marketing got me. My initial impressions were that it was a solid device that was really fluid... but boring as hell. Better widgets and notifications are something they've been touting for a little while now however the widgets aren't something that actually increases productivity and functionality they just look nice I guess, and the notifications, although stacked together now, are still horrible to interact with and do actions with from the notification menu one because of the limited functionality of them and two because of the extremely slow animations which brings me to my next point. Animations on the iphone feel like an absolute gimmick to cover up any slight stutters or lags the phone may run into which I don't understand since they have the most powerful SoC on the market right now I don't know why but everything just feels sluggish and slow to interact with for the sake of eye candy and I just want the option to speed it up. My note 10 feels faster to do stuff on than my brand new iphone. On top of all that, websites and everything else feels like it's loading at a similar speed. Lastly, back button is at the top right of an app??? WHY!!! my thumb is at the bottom I don't want to have to reach all the way across the screen to go back to the previous app, granted they have the bottom swipe gesture but that only works to switch the last two apps back and forth it seems like. No fast charging... wtf and everything in the rest of the ecosystem is so eye watering expensive it blows my mind. I also can't text from my PC anymore like I could with my note 10. Aside from that it's a good phone that is solid and has plenty of power iMessage is nice. but as someone who likes to get to as many things as possible with as few touches as possible for functionality sake, this ain't it. | Stop kids from downloading ANY app. Posted: 18 Jul 2021 11:21 AM PDT I just got gifted a Samsung tablet with Android 10 on it. There are a few games that my kids play and they have ads in them. I have set parental controls in the Android Play app store but it only allows you to restrict the rating down to E-everyone. The problem is that all the apps they are advertised in their games are also rated E, so that does not stop new games being downloaded. How can I just ban all new apps from being downloaded? If I lose internet momentarily the game will lag for some moments, which is totally fine. My issue is, often when this happens, the 4g symbol goes from black to gray. When this happens the game fully disconnects me from the game instead, which can be very annoying. If this didn't happen there would be no issue. My question, is there a setting or app that can make my phone think it still has internet during these momentary spotty connections to avoid this? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Jul 2021 10:07 AM PDT I think it's stupid to be scared of this, but it's better safe than sorry - it says in the find my device thing when you click it that google play services could do a factory data reset without warning, that's only if you want it to right? Also, I'm trying to uninstall updates from google play services and I keep getting stuff about device administrators so I was wondering if if I reactivate Find My Device then I would be able to uninstall the updates? Looking at my Huawei Gallery app, it takes the photo from the file system (with a path of sdcard\Pictures\Screenshots) when displaying it, but after it's deleted and placed in the Recycle Bin, it's gone from the folder. Now a lot of online searches says Android doesn't have a recycle bin, but Gallery apps do. Where does the Gallery app put the photo before it truly deletes it? Is it just marked as invisible but not "empty" by the system so it can just say "image here" when restoring it? Or is it moved somewhere else? Trying to search for the name of the photo after it's in the recycle bin doesn't turn up any results, so perhaps it's moved somewhere where non-rooted devices can't access? [link] [comments] |

I updated the firmware today, and now the phone keeps restarting after a minute. There is no chance to do anything. I already entered the recovery mode and deleted the cache, reinstalled all the apps and did a factory reset but even during the process of doing a factory reset, it keeps restarting. It was good until the charging port came away from the motherboard. I kept nursing it for twelve months until I had to replace. Then I had a Huawei phone. This lasted me for four years. I never had a problem with it at all. Tried to replace it with another Huawei but they have moved away from Playstore. So I bought another Samsung. And again having problems with charging port. Samsung phones...never again. I am looking at another Chinese Brand. Xiaomi. And like I was with Huawei I am nervous about buying. Although Huawei are also Chinese, it is the best phone I ever had. I also went and deleted a couple apps.this all got me only a couple of MB's so I decided to clear my cache also. which gave me an extra 0.2GB I got now 1.1GB free space to work with again the thing is that andoid takes up 'bout 5GB in my understandingapps another 4.5GBdocuments 598KB pictures 38.4MB audio 4.6MB thats ~10GB I got 16GBWHERE IS MY OTHER 6GB????? I have a galaxy j5 2017 sorry about english. not my first language tl;dr total storage = 16GB used storage incl. | Posted: 18 Jul 2021 06:20 AM PDT Hi all, I have a 5-6 years old tablet (Samsung SM-T230) which I hope I can utilize. It's laggy and slow, sometimes crashes etc. I did a factory reset, got rid of unnecessary apps and main goal is to use it as a media device (netflix, comics, reddit..) and it's still slow even with no apps on it. My questions are: 1- Is there a way to make this tablet work better? 2- Would rooting optimize it's hardware better than Samsung's android 3- Should/Can I change the android version (kitkat 4.4.2) on it? I forgot to charge my phone before sleeping and when I woke up, the battery's already drained up and when I tried to charge it, it gave a Moisture Detected error message. But I'm very sure I didn't put my phone somewhere wet. As much as possible, I don't want to bring this to an electronics repair shop as some of them (in my local area at least) are infamous of replacing great components into subpar/poor counterparts whilst fixing their customer's phone. | Help T T I accidentally download Virus/Crash Apk Posted: 18 Jul 2021 02:36 AM PDT So the apk of the software ran smoothly as the actual apps is. But when I close the apps, some low transparency/opacity of the apps icon navigation suddenly appear on my screen. When I delete the apk, those low opacity icons still remain the same on my screen. So I delete data, clean my storage, do security apps and reboot such. Then they gone As i thought everything turn out to be fine. It is not, the next evening day low opacity things appear once again with different icon navi. Once again I did the same thing I did yesterday. Clean and reboot etc. They gone Then again, as expect the next day the same thing happen. Like atleast once a day I experience this on my phone (it has been three days) what should I do Are they harmful? Or like is it virus? Should I factory reset my phone? | Pixel 2XL stops charging when phone screen locks. Posted: 17 Jul 2021 10:41 PM PDT My phone suddenly started having a problem where it will charge just fine when I plug the cable in, but the moment the phone screen locks it will either just stop charging or cycle through reading as connected or disconnected from the charger. I believe its a software issue since it charges just fine for the 30 minute timer I put on the timeout. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can go about fixing it?
