My phone thinks I'm in Downtown Toronto when I'm in the middle of nowhere Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:33 AM PDT One of my assistive GPS functions is not working properly. When I first start google maps it thinks i'm in toronto. If I give it enough time it finds the proper location. I moved to a rural area that has almost no cell signal and almost no WiFI access points to help it find a quick location. I'm connecting via my home internet WiFi only. Is there a way I can block whatever "hint" it's using that makes it think I'm in Toronto before it gets a more precise GPS lock? [link] [comments] |
How to make sure my photos are unaccesable before selling my phone? Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:28 AM PDT Hello. I'm planning to sell my OnePlus 8 Pro. I am scared that even when I factory reset next owner can reach my deleted photos with a recovery app. Is it possible? Someone told me it is not possible anymore, when you factory reset they are unreachable. Which is true and what should I do? [link] [comments] |
Do you feel a difference between 90 and 144 hz refresh rate? Posted: 28 Jul 2021 10:51 AM PDT I just got a Xiaomi 10t which has 144hz screen. I tried 60, 90 and 144. There's a big difference between 60 and 90 but I didn't notice any visual difference between 90 and 144. Is it mostly for gaming? Cause I only tried scrolling on Facebook and stuff. And the only game I play is Hill Climb Racing 2. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
If I want my fingerprint sensor to work, I have to wipe it off with my shirt before it works. Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:33 PM PDT My device is a Motorola one 5g ace I have kinda clammy hands, but this didn't happen on my last one 5g ace. My previous Motorola one 5g ace had a microphone issue so I got a replacement from Motorola. My fingerprint worked fine on my last phone, but for some reason I have to wipe off the sensor every time use it on my current Motorola one 5g ace. Thank in advance! [link] [comments] |
Android One SD card; Format as internal vs portable Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:24 PM PDT Hello! My mom has a Android One Nokia with just 16 gigs of storage. I tried putting in an SD card, and I formatted it as internal storage, but it just put around 5 gigs on the SD and now the storage is full again. There is about 2 GB left of photos on internal but it won't move them to the SD. I think it is better to format the SD to portable so I can easier move the pictures, but is that the best thing to do? Face unlock with Motorola one 5g ace. Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:16 PM PDT The face unlock works pretty good, but I would like to be able to improve the face unlock like I could with smart lock. Is there any way to improve the face unlock without completely redoing it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:11 PM PDT Good people I'm in the latest build of AICP for beckham, moto z3 play, and I notice that a feature that's useful to me is missing: side scroll buttons on the navigation bar Is there an app or section that enables this? [link] [comments] |
Gboard has stopped showing the number row in password entry fields. Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:09 PM PDT For years, when you're typing a password in a password entry fields, Gboard automatically shows the number row above the keyboard. I like that behavior. It's, for some reason, not been doing that lately. Anyone know why? EDIT: I am not talking about the permanent number row, which I'm aware of. I don't want it there permanently. I'm talking about the one that for years has automatically appeared on password rows and disappeared elsewhere. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:58 AM PDT I've flashed the wrong rom on my phone and also somehow wiped the system, I am now stuck on bootloop and when I try to go on TWRP it gets stuck on the logo screen. It also doesn't connect to my PC. Any sugestions? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:24 AM PDT Hello! I was a happy owner of an LG Velvet. I had a power surge just as I was restarting it and had to factory reset after trying everything to solve the bootloop glitch. Now I'm an unhappy owner of a factory reset LG Velvet. Anyway, at the time I had to reset, my Facebook was logged in with two-factor authentication (using the authenticator app). Now, I can't log in because it asks for the code generator that I lost when I had to reset. I've sent a request for help (several actually) to FB but so far no response. Just wondering if any of you have had similar issues and how you managed to log back in to Facebook? No, I don't have backup codes (lesson learned). Yes I tried resetting my password. TL;DR: Had to factory reset, lost authenticator app, can't log back in to Facebook. Help? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:20 AM PDT Hey all, I have a bit of a predicament. I managed to smash the screen of my Samsung S20 FE during a drunken adventure at the weekend. The screen is completely busted and won't turn on at all, but the actual phone is still working (it vibrates for notifications, charges up etc no problem). It's taking a few days for my insurance to process the claim, and I need to check my texts for 2FA codes in the meantime. But it's impossible while the screen is busted. My question is this; is there a way I can mirror the phone's screen to my PC or TV so I can navigate it with a mouse and keyboard for example? Normally this is easy to setup when the screen is working... but at this time I have no way to unlock it, I'm running blind with the screen failing to turn on. If I can mirror the screen to my TV or PC, I will be able to unlock it to see my 2FA codes while I'm waiting to get it fixed. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:06 AM PDT Hi everyone, I am using lineageOS on the mi a2 lite (this one). Everything works well except the mobile data. I tried wiping dalvik/cache, rebooting, resetting the APM manually, modifying the preferred network type, reflashing the OS, re-inserting the SIM card. I don't know what else I could try. I'm not really getting any answer on the xda thread so I'm asking here with the hope of someone having an idea of what I could try to do... [link] [comments] |
Google Pixel 4a keeps randomly changing the max volume on both Bluetooth and 3.5inch wired jack Posted: 28 Jul 2021 11:02 AM PDT I am not sure why, but the max volume capability keeps changing. Sometimes I will have to turn the phone up nearly all the way to hear my Bluetooth headphones, and then suddenly everything gets super loud and the max volume is much higher than what it was. This also happens using the 3.5 in headphone jack. What setting is causing this? I do not have any pop-ups for the hearing protection settings. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 10:33 AM PDT Hi! I'm using S7 Edge Android 8.0, I have a broken USB port for years now living with wireless charging eversince. I wonder, is there a way to recover deleted photos from Samsung's Private Mode? Given that I unfortunately stopped syncing with cloud services like Onedrive and Google Photos. Thanks in advance for any suggestion or tips! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 10:26 AM PDT Anyone walk me though steps? I don't want to wipe all my contacts out of existence for the cloud, just get them off the phone for safety sake. [link] [comments] |
Samsung phone not showing when connecting to mac by USB. Posted: 28 Jul 2021 04:04 AM PDT Hello everybody! Today when I connected my Galaxy J6 to my Macbook Air it did not show up in finder, it is weird because yesterday it was pretty normal and was showing up. How can I solve this problem? I have tried USB debugging which actually was turned on, have also checked that the USB cable is being used to transfer files. But it is still not showing up? Any advices???? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 09:58 AM PDT Not sure what the issue is, but when I turned on my phone today the screen has been occasionally flickering on and off, almost like it goes to sleep and back on and back to sleep in a continuous loop. I manage to hold the power button and shut it down or restart it, and then things return to normal, but it's not long before something else happens. I haven't made any changes to my phone, and as of last night it was fine, so I'm not sure what the issue could be. It's a lower end Samsung phone from a few years back. [link] [comments] |
Accidentally deleted internal memory Posted: 28 Jul 2021 09:55 AM PDT I have a Galaxy A6 and I accidentally deleted my internal memory (I'm an idiot don't ask) and it wiped all my pics. I tried 3 different recovery softwares (drphone, droidkit, and tenorshare ultdata) and all say I need to root my phone to do a deep scan. Droidkit has a built in rooting function but said it couldn't complete the root, so then i tried kingo root and it said my phone's software is too new. I am desperate here but know nothing about phones or rooting. Please let me know if there is a better software for rooting newer models. Droikit seems to work the best (it recovered some data but not all) I just need help rooting. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Jul 2021 09:32 AM PDT I got new earbuds but one of them is quieter than the other and I want to adjust the volume so they're equal. I googled it and it tells me to go to the accessibility settings and find a slider to shift speaker balance either left or right, but there isn't one. Is there another setting to fix this or maybe a program? [link] [comments] |

Running a "service" on Android, i.e., Android as a backend? Posted: 28 Jul 2021 08:53 AM PDT I have a hardware product that has a mobile SDK for Android that I'd like to use. The thing is, I don't want an app, I want a service that interfaces with this product and sends the data somewhere else. I want a service/daemon. Basically it's going to reach out to the hardware device, read data, and post it to a different service. I know I can't actually run a server according to this but I can get around it for now using long-lived streaming connections. The first thing I tried was to see if I can take the .class files the product's SDK are made off and put them in a JVM project to see if they can run there. No dice, they depend on android :( So I want to ask: what's my best route here? I was hoping to be able to run the Android OS in a Docker container and deploy that as I would any other container, but it seems that only the emulator is possible. Is there a good solution here? Can I modify the navigation bar? Posted: 28 Jul 2021 08:43 AM PDT I moved from my LG V50 to a Sony Xperia 5ii because despite saying it was compatible, Mint doesn't actually work with the V50. I did the 7 day trial to get away from AT&T 3G sunset where the LG would have stopped working anyways, data worked great, made the switch without trying to make calls first. I am for the most part getting used to the Sony, but I really miss having the ability to hit a button on the navigation bar to toggle to the notification tray. On the LG you can pick what buttons you want down there and there are more than back, home, and multitask. For now I'm using SideSense drag-down to toggle the notification tray, but it's not my ideal solution. Is there any way to get the functionality of the LG on the Sony? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to enable ADB on a broken screen? Posted: 28 Jul 2021 08:05 AM PDT My screen cracked. I called the service center and they told me that data will be wiped during the repair. I want some contacts from the device. I have access to the internal storage and USB debugging is on. But sadly ADB is disabled in charge-only mode.I want to mirror my android screen to PC. Is there any way to enable ADB? [link] [comments] |
Need help to increase my volume during calls Posted: 28 Jul 2021 07:58 AM PDT I've been calling my boyfriend almost daily for months now, and I'm so tired of having to repeat myself because he can't hear me. I was wondering if there was a way to increase my volume so others can hear me better since it seems to be a problem no matter what device I'm on with people hearing me. All the fixes I've seen on the internet are to increase the volume you hear, not the volume you put into your phone and sometimes just talking loudly into my phones speaker isn't the best option. I have a Galaxy s10e that's still in good condition as far as I know. I've not had many problems with it. I've been talking to my boyfriend in multiple ways including speakerphone and with Bluetooth ear buds (they have a microphone built in but he still has trouble hearing me). If there's not a good option for me, does anyone recommend any settings to change on his end or maybe an app he could use to increase his volume? He has an iPhone 8. Thanks for any future help!
