| Galaxy Note 9 asking for the password, locked out with Airplane Mode on. Posted: 13 Jun 2021 08:38 AM PDT Asking for a friend. Their Note 9 is asking for the password (of what I assume is their Samsung account) instead of the PIN /Fingerprint/ Pattern. They can't recall the password. To add to this problem, the phone also enabled Airplane Mode. Thus, when she tries to log into Samsung.com it sends her phone a text for the 2-step authentication which she never receives because of the airplane mode. We were able to turn on the wifi and she gets some notifications from apps, but no texts or calls. With the wifi enabled, I was able to have her find her phone thru Samsung's Find My Mobile feature but turns out she didn't enable it on the phone. Is there another way to get around the lock screen? She eventually reset her password, but it doesn't look like her phone recognizes her password. Every time she puts in the password, the phone locks out for 30 seconds. | Android System WebView: Screen goes black and freezes Posted: 13 Jun 2021 10:02 AM PDT I have a problem that, when I try to open something with Android System WebView, or try to open the Google Chrome app, the screen goes black for like 1 minute (please see video below), the app freezes and it doesn't load. When I try again after that time the app loads okay. It doesn't happen always but it does pretty frequently. I've already tried clearing data and uninstalling both apps. In the video I am using the Google app, but it happens with every app using Android WebView (and also Google Chrome, as I said). This has been bugging me for months, I don't know what else to do. | Download to SD card issue on Android with any Browser Posted: 13 Jun 2021 09:24 AM PDT I have a problem with downloading to an SD card and I tried using different browsers: chrome, brave, firefox but couldn't find a satisfactory solution. Basically on Chrome I set the download location to SD card and the path is "sdcard/../../Android/data/org.android.chrome/Downloads'. This is the only choice under SD card so I select that. But when I download any file, chrome displays "download error" in the notification bar and I can't open the file. The only way to open the file is to use a file manager and navigate to that directory which is a hassle if I have to do that each time. So the file is downloaded correctly, but the problem is Chrome apparently can't open the file. Maybe something to do with permissions, not sure. I tried the same with firefox beta and about:config settings following instructions floating around on google. But Firefox completely ignores the folder path and always downloads to the internal storage. I don't mind saving to that weird path but the download manager I have (Files by Google) does not recognize it as a downloads folder and so the file does not show up in my Downloaded files list, so it's kind of annoying. Does anyone else have experience with this sort of bug and if so is there a solution for that? (Alternative brower, other settings, a way to map that folder to Downloads in file manager, anything is welcome) [link] [comments] |

However I like how my phone's quick settings, wallpaper, and other things Google takes care of. | Root Motorola G8 Power over OTG Posted: 13 Jun 2021 04:17 AM PDT [ROOTING WITHOUT PC, TRYING OVER OTG+OTHER ANDROID] Hi, im currently interested in the question, if it's possible to root my G8 Power [original firmware, never rooted, updated to latest possible version; Stock Android 11] with an other Android device I've plugged in over OTG. I have installed an app, that names ADB⚡OTG, that allows me getting a proper connection and rebooting the device to the bootloader, such as the fastboot mode. I'm trying to root without PC, because I have no possible option, to use something different, than an Android device. Now my problem is, when I'm going into fastboot mode, the app is asking for permission in the pop-up, but doesn't open the shell, so I'm not able to run a command. It's recognizing my device, but my device doesn't grant access. • USB Debugging is enabled (both devices) • Pop-Up permission was granted • Fastboot and Recovery Mode are both accessible • OEM Bootloader Unlock is enabled (both devices) • Wireless OTG is supported on the device, I want to root ❌ There's no option for Wireless OTG on the device, I use shell and run commands on I even tried, using wireless OTG, but it doesn't seem to work with any app It shows the IP with the port, but it doesn't want to connect to it. It just says connecting in an endless loop, otherwise if the connection was refused or not existing, it would interrupt really quick. So my question is, do somebody know how to root this device with an command. I also tried typing in an flash command from Minimal ADB and Fastboot, but it seems like the commands in this shell are differentiating/have other names... I also have an unofficial TWRP image to flash for this exact device. | [UK] Enabling Google Chat features on UK networks Posted: 13 Jun 2021 03:46 AM PDT I have been trying to enable Google Chat features on ASDA Mobile and Giffgaff and I cannot get past the trying to set up screen. On ASDA Mobile it gets stuck there and on Giffgaff and I get that chat features are not supported (if I swap SIMs). Putting a foreign SIM in the phone (which is roaming on EE) enables everything no problem. What the heck is going on? Is it an ASDA Mobile problem? | adb commands 'wipe' and 'cmd' missing Posted: 13 Jun 2021 03:14 AM PDT I am trying to solve a problem with an old HTC Desire 626 that won't factory restart the normal way, nor will it do so in Hboot. I have tried to flash TWRP but suspect that I have the wrong version (626s is not the same as 626, which I can't find twrp for). The problem is that there are constant notifications from Google Play Services, Exhange Services and gmail stating they have 'unfortunately stopped working' which I can't get rid of. I want to completely factory reset or wipe the phone. (I wouldn't mind trying to flash a rom, but can't find one for HTC Desire 626, and seem unable to get twrp to work on it either). My specific questions:
