Sunday Rant/Rage (Apr 25 2021) - Your weekly complaint thread!

Note 1. Join our IRC, and Telegram chat-rooms! Please see our wiki for instructions.

This weekly Sunday thread is for you to let off some steam and speak out about whatever complaint you might have about:

    • Your device.

    • Your carrier.

    • Your device's manufacturer.

    • An app

    • Any other company

    Rules

    1) Please do not target any individuals or try to name/shame any individual. If you hate Google/Samsung/HTC etc. for one thing that is fine, but do not be rude to an individual app developer.

    2) If you have a suggestion to solve another user's issue, please leave a comment but be sure it's constructive! We do not want any flame-wars.

    3) Be respectful of other's opinions. Even if you feel that somebody is "wrong" you don't have to go out of your way to prove them wrong. Disagree politely, and move on.

    Youtubes share menu [still] needs_an_overhaul

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:37 PM PDT

I was so happy when I saw that Android 11 would allow you to pin apps within the share menu so I could finally just share using the apps I wanted instead of having to scroll through a long list each time to find the right icon.

Since I own a Oneplus 7 phone, it took a while for Android 11 to officially be released for this device and finally today, my phone offered me an OVA upgrade.

However, when I tried sharing from YouTube, the "pin" option didn't work. I tried it with the gallery app and no issue, it offered to pin my app. At this point I realized that YouTube is using their own share menu, not the one provided by Android!

After a quick search, I found this post from over 3 years ago. Back then users were complaining about exactly the same randomized share options. It's so sad that this issue continues to plague the YouTube app even after their google themselves realized this random design was flawed.
