| Why is "find my phone" so inaccurate? Posted: 08 Apr 2021 02:23 AM PDT Yesturday, my father lost his phone while walking in a field (he's a farmer). There is a very good 4g and GPS coverage in our area. I looked for his phone on his computer using https://www.google.com/android/find I could locate the phone within a radius of almost 500m. Completely useless. He finally found it the old fashion way (by retracing his steps for hours). When he found it, he immediatly looked on the MAPS app, and sure enough, the phone was able to put the blue spot EXACTLY where he was located. Why doesn't "find my phone" can do that when asked? | Call barring -> Operation Failed Posted: 08 Apr 2021 12:01 PM PDT Hello all! I hope I posted this in the right section but as I'm using a phone that uses android so I'm think I'm correct. I'm receiving a lot of spam calls from other countries so I wanted to block incoming calls from other countries but for some reason my call barring won't work. When I go to setting - wireless & networks - call settings - sim 2 additional settings - call barring it loads for a while and says 'reading settings' and after a while it says 'Operation failed, please try again'. It shows a greyed out menu with some options but I can't do anything in it. Just casually blocking the numbers that call doesn't work as these are almost always different numbers. I tried everything, they all record with internal sound + the mic, I want only the internal sound no mic. Is there anyway, root or no root to do that ? | Tips on how to have one main Google account with other Google email accounts? Posted: 08 Apr 2021 10:14 AM PDT I have one main Google account that I use for everything (calendar, contact, Pay, mail, play store, drive, etc.), but I have another Gmail that is strictly for spam-mail stuff. I absolutely never use the second Google account for anything other than gmail. When I set up the second account on my phone, Android things I want to also use that to sync everything else (calendar, contact, drive, etc.), but I only want mail. I am able to turn off syncing for everything exceptail, however, I ran into an issue the other day. When I opened Google Pay (old app), it wanted me to set up Google Pay all over again. I then realized it was trying to sign in under the second account. Is there a way to have a second Google account strictly for mail and not have Android lump it as an entire Google account that has access everywhere? For some reason, I could not even open the Google Pay app as the main account, it wanted to open as the second account (hence why it prompted the setup screen). | How to backup google authenticator codes? Posted: 08 Apr 2021 10:14 AM PDT I've been increasingly worried about the potential of losing my phone and having a HUGE problem with 2FA. Google doesn't seem to allow to backup the codes. I want to change to Authy for this reason but even that seems problematic because I have to supposedly deactivate and reactivate each code. There are a few problems with that: 1) I have loads of websites and it would take forever 2) One of them, somehow, doesn't have a name (just my username, which I use for almost everything) and I have no idea what website it belongs to. 3) there is one thing I use 2FA for which doesn't seem to be have the ability to re-set the 2FA again. Is there anything I'm missing? An option that I don't know about? From my understanding rooting would be able to backup the codes (right?) but I would rather avoid it. [link] [comments] |
| Trying to sync Samsung phone and tablet with Microsoft Duo Posted: 08 Apr 2021 10:00 AM PDT I am trying to help my dad connect his text messages across three devices:
Maybe this is as simple as "they don't have SIMs" or I am a dumb Apple user, but this just isn't working. We are signed into the same Google account on all 3 devices, the Samsung devices originally used Samsung Messages and they sync fine with the tablet over wifi. I have tried using Google Messages and there's no simple sync option that works. I can switch the default texting app on the Samsung devices to Google Messages and it syncs and works fine like the Samsung one did. The Microsoft Duo just refuses to see these messages over the cloud on Wifi despite being signed into the same Gmail account? I used SMS backup and restore and it pulled things from a week ago when I made the backup to the phone so the "threads" are there in Google Messages, but they still won't sync? Is there some simple way to do this or is it even possible with Android phones from different companies? [link] [comments] |

I'm trying to figure out a way to disable vibration when I am getting a call or a text or an email or a message, basically all notifications for every single app. But I still want all of these apps to vibrate... when I turn the phone on vibration mode. It seems as though I can easily disable all vibration by going to Accessibility settings - Vibration & Haptics, but this completely disables the vibrations, even when I set the phone to vibration mode. | I can't hear anything making or receiving calls Posted: 08 Apr 2021 08:41 AM PDT I have a OnePlus Nord N10 5G, and any time I try to make or receive calls, I can't hear a single thing. Not a dial tone, not if someone has picked up and answered, nothing. I've checked all the volume settings, I've tried WiFi calling specifically over WiFi, with cellular preferred, with data off completely, WiFi off. All that happens is my phone buzzes once about 2 seconds into the call. I still receive calls, and the alerts for them, and they can leave voicemails. But when I pick up the call, I can't hear them. My sound does work otherwise though, as I listen to the voicemails holding my phone to my ear the same way I would for a call. I'm not sure what else to mess with, but this also happened with my last phone, the Pixel 4. I need WiFi calling because I live somewhere with poor signal from all cellular companies, so any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |

In the last 2 days I've got calls from people who say they're phoning me back, I googled the numbers and they aren't on any scam website. And they sounded like normal people from my country (there aren't any Telemarketing scams based in my country) so I believe they genuinely got a call from my number. However when I check my call records it doesn't say I called them at all. This wouldn't be that much of a problem but I'm waiting on a call back about a job interview so it's got me panicking about the calls. He dated this girl who turned on him and being the sap he is, let her do whatever with his phone. She installed some rooting apps, seems to be Superuser, and anytime we try to use SuperSU or anything of the like, he needs permission from Superuser admin. He is stuck in Mexico and he's being taunted by a bunch of her old flings... and he doesn't think he can go anywhere. His apps have "been replaced with other ones" that don't function as they should, I.e., phone app that doesn't actually allow him to make or receive calls. Texts disappear, his Facebook is controlled, messages are deleted and he's constantly logged out. Really want to help him and I'm not sure how. I'm reaching out to the community in hopes someone will come forth with some good ideas. He doesn't have the funds to replace his phone or number, and I cannot send him mail because he's absolutely adamant that the people posted outside his place will take anything he receives. (Also, he says his computers are acting the same, and he's unable to use them as means to fix his phone.) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Apr 2021 05:41 AM PDT Android Version 9 I recently noticed that it's possible to swipe between the time and media player screen on the lock screen. This can be a bit annoying as it's possible to unintentionally skip/pause music/podcasts, when my phone is bouncing about in a pocket. I wonder if theres is a global system setting, rather than an app setting, to turn the media screen on lockscreen off? I can't find anything using the search functionality in settings. Thanks. | Phone screen stays on all night (Galaxy s10) Posted: 08 Apr 2021 05:26 AM PDT Hi so I have a galaxy s10 edge and recently it's started doing something weird. I typically fall asleep listening or watching something on YouTube. I have the phone plugged in so it charges over night, but when I wake up lately the screen is still on and on the same YouTube video at the end screen. In my past experience when a YouTube video ends the screen will time out because there is no video being played but now every day it's still on over 8 hours later. Any tips? I've set my screen timeout to 2 minutes and I've even looked around in developer settings for the stay awake setting but that doesn't seem to be the issue [link] [comments] |

| Connected without internet Samsung A20 Posted: 08 Apr 2021 12:41 AM PDT I have a samsung a20 and for the first year it was fine and then i go in a trip to different country and halfway through the trip i can no longer connect to wifi and shows "unable to authenticate connection" and would only connect if i was right next to the router and since my trip its gotten to the point where i cant connect at all and show "connected without internet" Ive tried reseting every setting, factory reseted, and any other solution but nothing works. My friend's see only one check mark which means I'm not receiving the messages. When I do open the app I get them all at once.
