Accidentally clicked on a phishing link and need some advice Posted: 25 Apr 2021 07:14 AM PDT One of my WhatsApp contacts (was it physically him?) has sent me a link. Message doesn't seem to be forwarded. Trustworthy person, so I didn't really pay attention to the link itself and clicked on the thumbnail, right? What a mistake. As soon as the site loaded, I noticed it's a phishing site - translations weren't quite right and the site felt weird overall. Immediately closed the site and informed the person that the link seems to be a scam. Googled it and I was right, found an exact article about it. Cleared the browsing data in Chrome, including cookies and didn't really care about it anymore. Strange things started happening few minutes later, I received the same message from the other WhatsApp contact. I started investigating, called three other people over cellular, however, those told me that they got nothing from me. My questions are:
Thanks for any answers. EDIT: Screenshot of the message https://vosveteit.sk/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Scam-spravA_lidl_whatsapp_1.jpg Screenshot of the site after being loaded. Clicked on OK and immediately closed it. https://vosveteit.sk/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/Lidl_whatsapp_scam_1.jpg [link] [comments] |

Badge notifications are messed up! Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:23 AM PDT Hey guys this has been frigging killing me. Badge notifications on my phone seem screwed up. On some apps it seems to work fine, but my Gmail and Samsung email apps are the real problems. I have gone into the app setting notifications, overall notification settings, special access settings for notifications, into the specific notifications, etc. The badge icons just don't work right. Trust me I've watched many videos and read dozens of fixes for this. I even recently said "f*** it and factory reset the phone. The Gmail app now makes a notification for new emails (not the number in my inbox) and if I click the app and close it all badge notications are gone, even after opening 0 emails. This type of thing happens in my voice-mail too, even if I leave the voice-mail unread. In Samsung email the badge icons are set to show the inbox and don't work at all. I have every made notification setting on from the inbox, app specific, system notifications, special access notifications, etc. Please help if you know anything about this because email badge notifications are a huge part of needing my phone. Psycho Ex Cyberstalking Me Without Phone Access Posted: 24 Apr 2021 08:16 PM PDT So this is kind of scary. My ex who I haven't seen since November 2017 has been cyberstalking my fiancee and I for nearly 3 years now. What she's doing is taking information she sees and hears, and twists it into a falsehood that seems a little truthful and texts my fiancee with slander in the hopes it ruins our relationship. She says I'm cheating on my fiancee, that I'm sleeping around, including with herself. At first, we thought she was literally stalking us as she did make an appearance in our neighborhood a couple of times despite not living there. However, sometime last year, she made it apparent that she is able to look at stuff on my phone. A coworker texted me and told my fiancee to check my phone, that she just messaged me using my coworker's name that just literally messaged me. At first, I thought she somehow installed spyware on my phone. She did not. I realized I had gotten my phone a month or two after she moved out (Galaxy S9+). Giving the benefit of the doubt, I got a new phone a few months ago (Galaxy S21 Ultra) and she's still able to see everything that goes on. She's able to see through the cameras, hear my phone conversations (and record them), read my texts, my emails, my social accounts, my pictures, can listen in on us even when the phone isn't being used, and who knows what else. I have changed all of my passwords (even wifi), have 2 factor authentication activated, have kicked my old devices out of my accounts, yet she is still able to access everything. I am on T-mobile if that means anything, migrated from Sprint with the merger. To make things worse? She's able to delete the messages she sends my fiancee off of her phone. She takes pictures of them and sends them to me when she can (because for some reason she hasn't or isn't able to delete them from my phone?), but she's even been able to delete the pictures off of her phone. Just like me, she just upgraded her phone (iPhone X to iPhone 12 Pro Max). My fiancee has never even met my ex outside of seeing her drive past in the neighborhood. Plus, she's on Verizon, completely different network to me. As you can imagine, this has put a huge strain on our relationship to the point of separation. So, my question: how in the world is my ex doing all of this and how do we stop it? I imagine police can't do anything without concrete proof it's my ex doing it. This is a serious issue we've been dealing with for years. If she's psychotic enough to spend her entire life monitoring us (despite already marrying someone else after I gave her the boot!), who knows what else she'd do. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:54 AM PDT I purchased a new Samsung Galaxy A11 from Amazon.ca (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08DXDNXBN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and set it up like I would with any other Android phone. It seemed to work fine with a SIM card from Chatr (local, Canadian provider) and also connected to Rogers' 5G wifi network. However, the very next morning, a pop-up from Carrier Device Manager started showing up saying: "Activate Your Phone - to continue using this phone, you first need to activate it on the Boost Mobile network. Until the phone is activated, data services are restricted and only calls to Boost Care or 911 are available." Since then, the wifi on my phone is NOT working. It keeps asking me to login to my wifi, but when I click to login, I am taken to an error page that NEVER loads. So, I did some online surfing on how to fix this and found out that calling Boost Mobile might help as they can unlock the phone. I called Boost immediately to get them to unlock my phone, but the multiple representatives that I spoke to, told me after getting the IMEI from me, that Boost Mobile didn't actually lock my phone. They advised me to call Samsung Care and check with them. I then wasted over an hour calling Samsung and got hold of a representative who told me that neither Boost Mobile nor Samsung has locked my phone, and that I should call Sprint Mobile since they are the ones that locked my phone. Now, when I called Sprint Mobile, one of their representatives told me that she can see the phone being locked, but would need an account name, number and pin to unlock it. I told her that I bought a NEW phone off of Amazon, so how on Earth am I supposed to know who locked this phone and when? She kept asking me to give her the account name, number and pin of activating the phone with Sprint Mobile (which, again, I didn't have, as I didn't activate the phone). Then, another Sprint representative told me that after entering my IMEI, she can see that Sprint Mobile didn't lock my phone. So, now that I cannot return the phone, I have factory reset it, deleted and uninstalled anything that said Boost or Boost Manager and left it on Airplane mode since last night - as this is what some users suggested on Reddit for a similar issue. Some people also suggested choosing the cheapest Boost plan and using it for a month, but they didn't seem to be sure of whether the issue would come back post a month of usage and after leaving the Boost plan. I don't want to buy a Boost Mobile plan (obviously... I live in Canada and am perfectly happy with my current phone service provider - Chatr, and my current ISP - Rogers). And the sad part is, there was nothing on Amazon about this when I was making the purchase and now Amazon is not even letting me leave a review of this, so that no one else false prey to this sort of SCAM (I don't know what else to call it) by either Amazon, WirelessGadget - the third party Amazon seller that I bought the phone from, Samsung, Boost Mobile or Sprint Mobile. I am really not sure who is lying among these five companies! Anyone have any idea on what to do with this? I'm in a really bad situation and can find no way to make this work. [link] [comments] |
Note 9 Phone looks like it has a worse version of blue screen on, even with blue screen turned off? Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:42 AM PDT After a work day with it in my pocket, the screen sometimes turns yellowish but it went away. Now even after resetting 3 times it's not going away. I googled it and the people said it's a software problem, but is it? [link] [comments] |
What's the easiest way to export a properly formatted SMS/WhatsApp conversation to PDF? Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:17 AM PDT I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S10e running Android 11. I'd like to be able to export an SMS conversation to PDF but there don't seem to be many great options to do this. The native WhatsApp option only allows export to .txt which isn't ideal as I'd prefer something that has better formatting. [link] [comments] |
Help? S20+ random drops of data capability Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:02 AM PDT This may be long but I want to provide all information because I have no clue where the issue may be coming from and if there are other subreddits I should seek out. I had a bring your own phone (S8) on Straight Talk's Verizon service (since like a year after they started being sold.) I switched to the S20+ (TMobile unlocked) and continued Verizon service through Straight Talk. I was told I needed a new SIM and could not use the S8s SIM. Service was fine for a few days, then would drop data capabilities, eventually dropped completely. Contacted ST, they didn't put phone on new SIM but instead old SIM. So I started using old SIM. Ever since the 19th when this was done, I still have issues where I lose data capabilities intermently. I work from home a lot so I'm not sure if it happens when I'm solely on 4G but when I went out of town for a day, I didn't have problems. Whenever I'm on wifi after an extended period of time, I notice my phone has bars but will start "searching". I can remove SIM and/or reset network, and get data again. I have two other people on the same service as me with S8 and S10, and are having no problems. I didn't have this problem on my S8 either. I have reinserted SIM, reset network, called about APN, turned phone on and off, I have called Straight Talk (who says my phone is set correctly on their end), I've called TMobile to make sure I can use Verizon (which I can). I've made sure my phone is on the right settings and only searching for 4G since of where I live and still have this problem. The only thing I haven't done is factory reset the phone because of the amount of info I have and because some forums say it doesn't work. Does this seem like an android firmware issue, s20+ issue, unlocked phone issue, SIM card issue or what? I'm at a loss. The SIM seems like it could be any option.. Straight Talk assure me I didn't need to change to a new SIM but I have no clue. I can't send in to Samsung because I purchased the phone through someone and my return window is closing in. They told me through messages the phone was in 100% working condition, it was in mint condition, and I just can't see why they'd lie knowing I could get my money back for selling a faulty device. Please help provide advice or guidance. I'd greatly appreciate it. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2021 10:30 AM PDT https://i.imgur.com/ZBQAhId.jpg A couple days ago I went out and left my window at home open. Wind sucked it shut and triggered a sensor on my alarm system. My alarm system connected to Ooma Home security app. When I went to reset the alarm, the app kept on glitching out with WAIT/REPORT/IGNORE. I kept saying wait with no progress. Got home and a couple hours later the app started working again but I'm constantly getting the screens in the attached photos now. I'm on Android 6.0.1, Google says android 7 but so I downloaded older APK and same thing. It just started this a few days ago **BEFORE** I tried the apk so its not a virus apk. Then I tried UNINSTALLING Ooma home security but it's STILL doing this so it turns out it's NOT Ooma home security (but it only began after my alarm that I could not access the app).....How then do I track down which app is causing this thats trying to sign in and access sensitive info?? I even enabled allow less secure apps but am still getting this. [link] [comments] |
Has the face unlock issue been fixed yet for Android 11? Posted: 25 Apr 2021 10:12 AM PDT I have a Pixel 4XL and last year after updating to Android 11 the face unlock all but stopped working. Many others reported the same issue. (See others reporting the issue here) I went back to Android 10 and have been waiting for that issue to get resolved before going back to 11. Has the issue been fixed yet? [link] [comments] |
How to 'crop' entire left side of screen to cater for a blind spot (Disability) Posted: 24 Apr 2021 09:36 PM PDT My uncle had a stoke so he has a huge blind spot for anything on his left which includes Huawei tablet. He can't see the ¼ of the left side of the screen. This means he can't see the beginning of messages, who sent it, or type properly. Is there a way to sort of push the entire screen to the right side within in field of view (Green area) This is his field of view: https://imgur.com/a/UykJUbL Green = what he sees Pink = his blind spot [link] [comments] |
Extremely unusual/eerie "suddenly appearing old webpage" problem Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:47 AM PDT Basically, on my phone (Redmi Note 9S), every time I press on the touchscreen to input text (it only happens when I press on something that lets me type text on it), a still image of an older screen will just suddenly appear until I start typing, or if I touch the screen again. For example, say I was browsing Wikipedia. 2 hours later when I'm trying to type out a comment on Reddit, the page of the Wikipedia article I read earlier just appears literally out of nowhere, and immediately disappears upon any form of interaction. It is extremely difficult to explain because I can't just "show" you unless you're also physically present near me, screen recording doesn't work. It makes it incredibly annoying to type out anything. It's literally happening right now as I'm typing this post out (currently the image it shows is from a YouTube video I watched earlier). The only way to stop it is if I delete my browsing history... And once I have a new browsing history it just starts happening again, I'm not trying to delete my browsing history every 10 minutes. Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:46 AM PDT For about 2 weeks now, every app I try to download is just stuck on pending. All the apps that I try to update just starts and then stop. Play protect scan keeps revolving too. I've tried clearing cache and data of the playstore. Any help.? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:38 AM PDT When I used to open chrome, there would always be a so called preview of what I was seeing previously, and now it has stopped showing those "previews" and only show teh title with the link. Is this some sort of setting that I have accidentally changed, or is it something to do with my phone, or did chrome have some new update that I'm not aware about. Btw, my phone is a Poco X3 NFC and so far all I've did was try to find a setting to change it, rebbot my phone, and clear all my data from chrome. Nothing has worked. [link] [comments] |

Best App for Locating My Phone Without Draining Battery? Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:02 AM PDT So I've got 2 questions: 1. Does leaving on my location on my phone drain the battery? There isn't any other way to find my phone if it gets lost if the location isn't on 24/7. 2. What's the best app for locating my phone in case of theft/loss? I'm hoping for one that doesn't drain the battery too badly. I know samsung has a built-in function for locating your phone but unfortunately I have a Realme 7 pro. [link] [comments] |

I think I tried to sync it but I don't think I did so instructions as to how to do it would be appreciated. A full shut down (waited 20 minutes) didn't work. [link] [comments] |
[HELP] Vivo Y30G | Android 11 - Forgotten Pattern and now I am locked out Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:42 AM PDT So there's this device from a friend which I can't unlock cause he forgot his pattern, so here's method I used but none of them works: • Using random pattern to get into Google (Forgot Password) option which I can't. When I tried too many patterns, it locks me out with a timer and when I tried again it will increase the time and so on... • Factory Reset the phone thru Google 'Find My Device', I mean I can reset it via Google but I can't cause the phone won't connect to WiFi/Data connection. • Recovery Mode (?) Still need to use the pattern to factory reset it. Possible way to unlock it which I never tried: • Reprogram it with ROM file (I can't since the phone is newly release, there's no available ROM to use and I think phone nowadays is locked and can't use flasher anymore) • MRT Dongle (I don't have one) So, is there maybe some other way/s to unlock this phone? I mean, maybe If I can turn on the WiFi/data, it will factory reset by itself but I don't know a way to unlock it. [link] [comments] |
Any way to block texts containing certain key words? Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:37 AM PDT I keep my battery saver on my phone because if I didn't, it would die in 2 hours. However, my family keeps sending me messages like these. Since I don't want to block them, is there a way to filter these individual messages out of my box? [link] [comments] |
I'm trying to buy a new phone for my father Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:18 AM PDT I wanted to buy my father a new phone since his current one is old and destroyed from work. I was thinking about getting him a Redmi Note 10 Pro but looking online I also found the Huawei Nota 5t for half the price which prompted me to ask for suggestions on here. My budget is €300~ and the only thing he really needs is a good camera. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
