How do I add streaming services to my Google account?

    Posted: 19 Mar 2021 03:42 AM PDT

I'm from India and I got the new Android TV redesign today. In the Discover tab, the only service I get recommendations from is Prime Video. I tried to add more services but only Prime shows up in that list. What should I do?

Any local media player that supports Dolby Vision?

    Posted: 19 Mar 2021 01:42 AM PDT

I have a Hisense 55A71F Android TV that supports Dolby Vision. I can get Dolby Vision 4K working on Emby and Plex clients but need a player that supports it for local content (as in from a flash drive connected to USB). I tried the following:

    • Native media player on TV - Supports Dolby Vision and HDMI passthrough for audio but no subtitle support
    • MX Player - Supports Dolby Vision if the decoder is HW but audio will be 2 channel only.
    • Nova Player - No
    • VLC Player - No

Any other player you know that supports local playback of Dolby Vision 4K?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 03:41 PM PDT

So you can get Apple TV on the new chromecast, but not on a standalone Android TV box? (Mibox)

    Or am I missing something?

Sony XBR55X900F Backlight and colors flash in all local android apps

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 03:29 PM PDT

This has been an ongoing issue with me when playing HDR content through and app directly on the TV.

At first, I thought it was just Netflix, but I just started using HBO Max and have found the same thing there and on Prime video as well. Apps have all been updated and the TV is running the latest firmware. The issue does not happen when playing the content through a Chomecast Ultra.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? What else can be done to troubleshoot? The TV is still under warranty, but seeing as its not happening via HDMI, I'm not sure how it would be handled.

Control Android TV with hardware mode connected to phone

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 09:49 AM PDT

I have a xiaomi Mi stick which lacks otg. I'm trying to set things up for my wife so she can play The Sims through Steam link. I can connect a Bluetooth controller, but that's not ideal for a game like The Sims.

I've got a spare mouse that I can connect to a phone using USB otg, but I can't find a way to translate that mouse input to the xiaomi Mi stick. I can connect with the android remote app, but it only sends touch inputs even when I'm using the mouse. So I can control a mouse cursor on the xiaomi Mi stick but it requires me to hold down the mouse button. My last resort would be to buy a Bluetooth mouse, but before resorting to that, I wanted to see if there's a way to get this working with what I already have.

    Switching from Apple TV

    Posted: 18 Mar 2021 09:23 AM PDT

I was thinking of switching from Apple TV to an android tv device once I saw the new google tv UI I was wondering what devices support the new UI besides the new chromecast? And I want a device where I can toggle HDR off because my tv looks weird with it on but also keep 4k content on like u can with Apple TV.
