PSA: Google Opinion Rewards CAN BE a great option for F2P players of all games! Get paid!

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 11:06 AM PST

I recently installed and started using Opinion Rewards, the survey app through Google Play, and have been loving it. A quick search showed no main posts here in about a year, so i figured I'd post it again!

Google Opinion Rewards asks you a survey every now and then, 1-2 per week for me, and gives you 10-60 cents in the Play Store as a reward. I'm a cybersecurity professional so I'm fully aware how much of my data is getting sold all over the place in the background, in my eyes this is just a way for Google to kick me a few bucks in return 😆!

It's not a ton of money, but it's enough to pick up a free gem pack or sale item or whatever in F2P games if you're not into busting out your wallet. Or save up for a paid game!

Some caveats I've seen from older threads: - You're literally selling your privacy - Not available in all countries - Not as effective if you don't enable location tracking and/or go out and do stuff - Fuck big tech amirite

For some reason my GRID Autosport install doesn't have a "Preferences" text file to modify. Does anybody know how to fix that?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 06:57 PM PST

I checked storage/emulated/0/Android/data and there was nothing there. Nothing from Grid, nothing from any other apps. The /Android/obb folder had a lot of stuff, and the /Android/media folder had stuff, but I can't find a modifiable preferences file for the game. Did they take that out in an update or something? I'm running an S21 Ultra on OneUI 3.1 (Android 11). I'd like to be able to crank the settings but I can't. I just remember that the original tip to modify the preferences file was on this subreddit, so I was hoping you guys would have some insight.

Looking into getting my phone set up to look more like a switch with a Standing Type-C Dock but I'd like HDMI, Ethernet, at least 3 USB, and an SD Card Reader ports?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 03:35 AM PST

TL;DR: Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew of a standing dock that has all of the following?

    • Is a Standing Dock
    • Has an HDMI port
    • Has Ethernet port
    • Has at least 3 USB ports
    • Has a Micro/SD Card Reader port

Thanks a ton for any suggestions.

Larger explanation of what I'm looking for, feel free to just skip this part:

Essentially I have a good telescopic Gaming Controller for my phone, the Flydigi Wii2T, an SD Card to expand the internal storage of my phone to fit a ton of high quality games that are pretty big in relative terms to phone games, a USB-C-HDMI Adapter to play on my tv, an okay set of wireless earbuds that last around 4-5 hours, an extended battery case with wireless charging, and a Samsung Wireless Charging standing dock for the phone. But I'm trying to get my phone set up to resemble even closer of a companion device to the Switch than I have it already.

My main 3 issues left with my phone set up aren't that big of a deal but I feel like the first 2 issues can't be solved really. 1) Flydigi Wee2T has a companion app to enable its full functionality. And after extensive research, I've found that the only better controller in terms of thumb stick Reliability/Accuracy and overall Built Quality is the GameSir X2 Type-C that has the exact same style of companion app to enable its full functionality. So unless I decided to drop the telescopic nature of the controller, and the switch/psp look, I don't think there is a better option and the extra app is just going to have to stay. 2) The Extended Battery case with wireless charging is just big and clunky and doubles the thickness of the phone, to the point it stretches' my controller a bit too far and it barely fits into the Flydigi Wee2T. But after checking for smaller ones with similar capacities, it seems like that's just the cost of wanting to play Genshin Impact at max settings at 70%+ brightness for hours on end. So again I think unless I just want to lose the extended phone life, or just upgrade my phone to a more efficient flagship phone than the couple year old one I have, that's just going to have to be something that has to be tolerated. But my third and main issues is my search for expanded functionality and a cleaner look, and I'm pretty sure this one can be solved. But after searching all day today, and all day last night, I've not been able to find the exact product I'm looking for.

    3) I want to clean up how the phone looks when its on my TV stand plugged into my TV. Currently I set it down on my wireless charging base horizontally to allow my Type-C-HDMI adapter to plug in coming out from the left. I think this looks ugly and it's annoying to set it down and then have to fiddle with the wire. The extra power draw to send it to the TV is also just barely enough for my wireless charger to keep up with, so when it's plugged in this way to play on the big screen, it charges at about 3% an hour. So I'm looking to not only solve all of those issues by getting a standing Type-C dock that has everything I've previously mentioned but to expand the functionality of the phone while its docked as well. I'm pretty sure that passthrough charging would be way more powerful, and better for my battery honestly, and that a standing dock like the Dex Station with USB-C pass through charging would solve the visual issue as well as just being a more elegant way of plugging in the phone to the TV. That being said the Dex Station is out of production from my research so it's super expensive on Amazon if you can find it, and it also doesn't have nearly the same functionality as some of the Type-C HUBs that aren't standing docks that I've found in my research. There are 60$ non-standing HUB ones on Amazon that have everything I'm looking for, but EVERY standing dock I've found on Amazon, or elsewhere, ends up cutting corners on one of these things, and like, it will end up not having ethernet, or maybe it wont have a card reader, etc. But I'm looking for a nice standing dock that has all of those things.

This is a link to an example of what I'm talking about just above (https://www.amazon.ca/Skywin-Docking-Station-Compatible-Samsung/dp/B07Q2GJ1VZ/ref=dp_prsubs_2?pd_rd_i=B07Q2GJ1VZ&psc=1) and it shows exactly what I mean. It has almost everything I'm looking for and looks exactly how I want it to look, but it doesn't have ethernet, and it only has 2 USB ports for a keyboard and mouse, none for an additional USB slot. Then on the other end the Dex Station also only has 2 USB ports, but also doesn't have a card reader, though it has ethernet. So there really isn't even a 3rd port to expand the storage with a USB on that either, so for it's price I think it has low functionality. So does anyone know where there is anything like this but has everything I'm looking for?

    Mobile game art collections?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 05:34 PM PST

Does anyone know where I could find archives that contain a mobile game's art?

To explain a bit... There are many Asian mobile games that have beautiful (and eccentric) art that I would like to collect for use in my personal tabletop RPG campaigns. I feel like there could be a site that would host such a thing but my google fu has failed me.

    Thanks in advance!

[REQUEST] Old school multiplayer strategy browser game

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 03:01 PM PST

Hey, I have been looking for a multiplayer strategy game that has the same feels as the old school browser games, but plays on mobile. My favourites were Travian and Tribal Wars.

I have been looking online and on the play store but didn't seem to find any to my liking, I prefer long building times and simple combat, most games I have tried have been too fast paced and need too much of an active presence to progress.

If you happen to play any multiplayer of this kind, please tell me which one and your feedback on it, even if it happens to not be on Android.

[REQUEST] I'm looking for an old game I used to play

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 01:06 PM PST

The game was a team based rpg. You could have up to 3 (maybe 4 if my memory is a bit shaky) members that all had unique skills. You explored a new world that slowly turned your members infected with most encounters and gave them special buffs/abilities, I remember you got emails almost daily (in game days) and there were a few factions you could interact with story wise that would give you rewards, (usually opposing each other). I think you had to upgrade your own buildings, heroes, and equipment along with picking up new recruits similar to Darkest Dungeon, you also had consumables and story events (again like DD) that happened when you moved around the world.

[REQUEST] LOOKING FOR AN OLD CHINESE THEMED RPG

    Posted: 07 Mar 2021 09:18 AM PST

    Good day everyone! I am looking for an old game that I had played a couple years ago maybe more like 5-6 years ago (dont take this info as concrete). Since it was a long time ago, I only remember vague points about it;

    1. It was a chinese-themed RPG in 3D view although it was not open world, the gameplay element were in stage-like form (something like stage 1 - 1 , stage 1 - 2...) that battle area was pre built, where enemies come in wave until you meet the boss at that stage.
    2. I also remember you could recruit mercenaries which was differentiated by ratings of some sort
    3. In the battle, you have an option to ride a horse (although I vaguely remember this, I put it to make it more specific)

For those who knows, I'm truly thankful to you and for those who don't, you're still appreciated.

    [REQUEST] RPG games.

    Posted: 06 Mar 2021 04:40 PM PST

Any non-grind RPG games that are offline? I am not a fan of grind games. I like story driven games more than combat focus. Want something I can pick up and play for a few minutes or a few hours at a time.

Cannot be pay to win. One time purchase for game is okay. Cannot have forced ads.
