So now I have tried both.. The both have a bit of controller delay. Maybe the Raspberry pi has a tiny bit more .. Which is the better setup ? How did you remove latency ? I noticed on my TV the GAME MODE is greyed out for some reason so I didn't activate that. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 08 Feb 2021 06:31 AM PST Hi All, For what seems like a relatively straightforward task "Play local videos as a screensaver" I'm amazed by the lack of options. The only app which ever gets linked to or mentioned is "Photo Gallery and screensaver" but that hasn't been updated in over a year and has extremely poor performance and very limited support for 4k and HDR videos. I'm surprised that no developer has taken it upon themselves to build what I would think should be a fairly basic app to simply play videos from a local folder, at this point I would pay a fortune just to have this problem fixed. So if I search for downloader, nothing appears, yet it's the first app when I open the tools category. I was trying to find ipvanish which wouldn't show either. I ask because my post about what I thought was an Android TV STB was removed by the mods of this forum citing rule that it has to be about "Android TV". So I am just wondering... if it's not on a magic list of Android TV devices, but it's running Android and streaming / using ATSC pass through, then who has most relevant knoweldge besides Android TV users and developers.... what subreddit would take questions if not this one? AV? Let's be honest, reddit mods are a controlling bunch who seem to be perversely incentivized against free flowing discussion but at some point there has to be a check on the stifling of legitimate knoweldge exchange. I dont really need chromecast with google tv because i dont use streaming services but xiaomi's stick fills in my needs since my tv is only 1080p, apart from the fact that people say its really slow. I've found this app. There's quite a long list in the description, so wondered whether any of you have purchased one of these models and got it to work (if you did, please mention device, and more importantly Android version). I'm super into making it work, and would even fork an app if needed. Anyway, I'll keep this post updated. It'd be best if it worked on the new Chromecast with Google TV, but I'm very open to other streamers as well (and most importantly, that it'd work via the Google Live Channels app, dependent of internet connection). Posted: 07 Feb 2021 02:59 PM PST Hi, I am in Canada and have been using Peacock with a VPN (ExpressVPN) without issue for quite a while on a 2019 full updated and stock Nvidia Shield. Late last year there was an update to the app that gave me the following error when I opened it the next time ; Peacock is unavailable on this device . Please visit Peacocktv.com for a list of supported devices I went to APK mirror and download a fresh install of the latest version for android tv 2.1.1 and installed it fine. As soon as I go to start it I get the exact same error message. I tried reinstalling the original version I had and it starts but advises that there is an update and wont let me do anything until I update. As soon as I click update it takes me to the play store with the option to open or uninstall and a notice below saying this app is no longer compatible with your device, please contact the developers for more information. The weird thing is because I am in Canada, PeacockTV is not in my playstore so I am not sure how its taking me to the app in there? Does anyone have a link for the correct version for the Nvidia Shield that will work in Canada or can suggest anything else that I might have missed. | Location/DNS - Chromecast w/ Google TV Posted: 06 Feb 2021 03:46 PM PST I live in Japan and have used Unblock-Us for US content on my FireTV and my Sony TV with Android TV for several years without issues. I recently purchased a Chromecast with Google TV from the Japan Google Store. At startup, I selected English as my language, turned off location access, and updated to Unblock-Us' DNS settings. My Google account's location is to the US. However, the Google TV interface still assumes I am in Japan. Content from Japan-specific services (Abema, U-Next) is suggested, and content recommendations from international services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are pulled from the Japanese versions of these services. Content titles are either in English or Japanese, prices for paid content are displayed in yen, and movie trailers are Japanese versions (e.g., introductory text/titles are in Japanese during playback). If I try to watch, I am prompted to subscribe to the Japanese service or, if purchasing/renting through Google, I am told that the item isn't available. However, I'm able to install apps like Hulu/Disney+/Prime from the US Google Play Store, and clicking on these icons brings me to my US account for each service. Another odd point: I was watching The Expanse (Amazon Prime) via Google TV, and signs that appeared in the show were subtitled in German. Today I noticed a thumbnail with a German translation of an English title as well. Any thoughts on what's going on here, and how to resolve the issue?
