Will 'For you' ever come to new markets?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:56 AM PST

Ever since the Chromecast with Google TV came out I've been waiting for a more global rollout. Sadly, it looks like no new markets have been added since. Also in the settings I still can only add Netflix and my Prime account while other major services (like HBO and Disney) are freely available here. Are there any rumours of this become a more global feature anytime soon?

    Totally disappointed in Built-In Chromecast

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 04:33 AM PST

I bought a 50" TCL Android TV around Black Friday to replace a dumb 40" on our covered patio that had a Roku and 2nd gen Chromecast attached to it. Obviously, I no longer needed either of those peripherals with an Android TV—or so I thought.

While I've been generally pleased with the operation of apps, the built-in Chromecast has been terrible. Streaming almost always freezes for a split-second every 5 seconds or so. The problem is definitely w/the built-in CC because I'm always able to stream the same thing to the CCWGTV in our living room w/o any kind of freezing. And it happens no matter what device I cast from—phone, tablet, or PC.

On top of that, the Google Photos ambient mode on the built-in CC won't let you get rid of the dark shading on the bottom of the screen, on which is highlighted on the left portion "Chromecast built in" or something like that. (Yeah, thanks for letting me know, duh...).

I've since reattached the old 2nd gen CC, and have been able to stream w/o the split-second freezing problem—and see my photos w/o the annoying garbage at the bottom of the screen. Because that all works fine now, it's not worth putting in a warranty claim. But part of the point of getting an Android TV was to have casting built in. Is this an issue that anyone else has had, specifically with TCL?

Apps can explore drives but not access files after turning on X-plore USB-driver

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 09:11 PM PST

I have this issue with X-plore. It was working perfect, but I accidentally turned on "Use X-plore USB-Driver". It asked me to mount some of my hard drives. I chose yes, but then all of them disappeared from the list. So I just disabled the feature and restarted the nvidia shield. Now all the three drives show and are browsable on X-plore (2 of them connected through a usb hub), but no other app will play any media on them. The other apps can see and browse the files on the drives, but the apps have no access to the files. I don't know what to do to fix this? I plugged off the usb hub and put it back on. Restarted multiple times. I even uninstalled X-plore.

pair two BT headphones with Chromecast with Google TV

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 03:38 PM PST

Im really stoked CCwGTV already pairs with BT headphones - this is a big one-up on our old Roku (without having to get the headphone jack in the remote!)

Anyone have any success pairing two bluetooth headphones or have suggestions on how one might jerry-rig such a solution so my partner & I can stream movies to our CCwGTV together without disturbing the kids?

Android TV app that accurately mimics AirPlay 2?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 02:14 PM PST

Apple Fitness Plus will soon allow users to Airplay workouts, but only using Airplay 2.

Can anyone recommend an app that mimics AirPlay2 on non-Airplay enabled TVs?

Sound problems with 4K videos (Philips 65PUS7363)

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 02:01 PM PST

I have problems with my Android TV Philips 65PUS7363 for months. 4k videos from apps like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Video produce strange noises. The noises are very loud. I have already reset the TV several times and several updates came in that time as well. The Philips support is not helping me and ignoring me. Does anyone have a similar problem?

    Here are some videos:

    Disney+: https://streamable.com/lqfbsm (video lags on 4K) Netflix: https://streamable.com/5qksjj Blu-ray Player: https://streamable.com/e3kp3x (resume a paused Blu-ray disc)

    Providers in Discover Tab

I'm european and I don't actually hate the new launcher update but having only 3 providers in the discovery tab makes it practically useless.

Yes compared to the us there are less streaming services in europe but i could come up with more than 3 local providers that would be useful (not counting netflix or plex).

Now I just turned discover off caus i know it won't help me in any way.

What are your thoughts? How many providers do you have in your country?

How can I use the native QWERTY (Gboard) in the YouTube app?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 12:24 PM PST

I speak both Hebrew and English, and the dumb YouTube app has this strange chronologically sorted keyboard. When the app's language ia English, I can use either type or use STT in English. When it's on Hebrew, I can type in both languages but still have only English speech to text function. Funnily enough, Google Play Store which uses Gboard, has the ability to long press Assistant button while keyboard is shown to use STT searching, also in Hebrew. So right now I can freely search for apps in Hebrew by vocally saying the app name, but can't do the same for search freaking YouTube. Please tell me there is some sort of solution. It's just ridiculous. Thanks.

Ematic 4K Android TV Box issues

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 01:40 PM PST

So I just got this and I like it so far, however I'm having display issues. Like my TV is fine, but when I use this as the source its like it's darker, colors come across as more pink, and in Youtube there is noticible bleed when watching videos. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Solución WiFi 5 GHz Chromecast con Google TV Aurora CCwGT

    Posted: 16 Feb 2021 09:38 AM PST

    ..................................................................................

    In English:

Good day. Sorry if I write in Spanish, I have used Google Translate, I'm from Peru.

I think I have figured out the solution to the 5 GHz WiFi network connection problem on the chromecast with Google TV Aurora CCwGT. At least it has worked for me.

The solution: The username and password of the 5 GHz WiFi network must be alphanumeric, it cannot be symbols or strange signs, only letters and numbers of the Anglo-Saxon or Hispanic alphabet (abcdefghijklmnñopqrstuvwxyz1234567890).

Possible cause: For some reason in the 5 GHz network it does not recognize symbols or signs and that makes it not recognize the WiFi network or connect the password. It must be some kind of problem in the WiFi code. In the 2.4 GHz network this does not happen, since normal connects with symbols and signs and alphanumeric.

I have connected to the network of 5 and I am happy for the speed it has. Since it is much better than the 2.4 GHz network.

I hope it serves you. Anything they can consult.
