[Help] Can anyone help me get a ringtone from Samsung A20E?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 08:26 AM PST

One of my good friends is going away soon, and I wanted to keep a copy of her ringtone. She has a UK Samsung A20E, and the ringtone is a classical/strings version of Samsung's "Over the Horizon" tune.

I tried browsing through the phone, but I couldn't find any sound files that were the ringtone. Could anyone help me find how to get it? e.g. extracting it from an update file or from the phone?

Just as a curiosity, would be possible to replace stock Android (now Android 10 after update from Android Pie) with Android Go on such tablet?

    Android 11 update on Note 10+ - App Switcher/Overview

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:50 AM PST

Please someone tell me there is a way to go back to my vertical list of recent apps instead of this ugly tile shelf? I've been looking in the settings for the last 2 days and nothing comes up on web search, except the last time they changed it on 9/Pie.

It was way more efficient for me to have a basic list of recent apps and I hate the app previews. Not to mention tap and drag for split-screen view was much better than the new way, IMO.

My SD card isn't working well

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:11 AM PST

Hi. I recently got a micro SD card and I set it to internal memory. The problem is that sometimes half of the phone's folders disappear, or sometimes they appear, but the android one doesn't appear and I can't download apps or updates, and videos from Reddit don't load. How can I fix this?

My phone has fully stopped working normally. I'm very concerned.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:21 AM PST

On Saturday 13 Feb, I powered off my Samsung Galaxy S6 and put it away. Unused on Sunday.

Then on Monday 15 Feb (aka today), I turned it back on. It was all good and well until I tried to open WhatsApp. Firstly WhatsApp opens, then it crashes, and finally it closes and gives a black screen for about 10 seconds. This is the same with all apps I download from the Play Store. However, system apps like Gmail, YouTube, Files, Settings, etc. seem to be working fine.

Another thing that hasn't been working properly is that all my contacts have suddenly disappeared. I had about 20-25, but now they have all gone.

Also I keep getting popups that say WhatsApp has crashed, and for some strange reason Discord as well. I haven't touched Discord on my phone for a good few weeks.

Sorry if this is kinda long, I am concerned and I need help ASAP. If you need any details I'll edit them in.

    TIA.

A game works improperly on newer Android versions

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:53 AM PST

I have a game that didn't receive an update since 2017. It ran with no issues back then on my first phone, and when I played it 1-2 years ago on my second phone it ran fine, but sometimes refused to load ads (you can watch an ad to get some stuff). Now I got a third phone, the game works, although the game is slightly tilted to the right side of the screen. Before I set the: 'open app in full screen' option, it was tilted even more, making the game unplayable. Also, no ads load at all, although I want them to load so I can get some stuff.

Is there a way to fix all this?

Help: Checking for viruses & other mobile health related questions.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 06:27 AM PST

I received 3 texts from 3 different people the other day. They are all in a group chat with me, though the texts in question were NOT within the group text, but direct private texts to me. The texts were CLEARLY viruses trying to get me to download an attachment. 1kb in size, owner's don't remember sending me anything, the classic signs of a virus trying to spread itself.

My question is: Could this be a virus on MY phone doing this? I've never heard of a virus being able to hijack a text message and texting the infected phone. Like how would MY phone be able to send a text from THEIR number? I've never heard of that before. And if my phone is the infected one... why am I receiving the messages to download the virus? Usually it's the reverse, the infected phone texts an uninfected phone. It doesn't make much sense that a virus would try to install itself on a phone that's already infected.

BUT, my friends think MY phone is infected, but like I said that makes no sense. My phone hasn't sent anyone any rouge attachments, I'm the only one receiving them from THEIR phones.

Also, is there any virus checking software for android? I don't trust the playstore results very much and googling it returns many sites, but I'm not sure how trustworthy they are. I'm the most tech literate out of my friend group and have even cleaned PC's before for people. I'm very savvy when it comes to this stuff, but I'm not as experienced with mobile devices. That said, I know how people's phones get infected and I know not to trust some random website... Some random redditor isn't much better, but it IS better, so here I am.

Thank you for reading and hopefully one of you can help. I'm worried my data will be compromised....

Is it really necessary to fully charge a device before hard resetting it?

    iOS emulators?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:38 AM PST

I'm looking for a way to run an iOS app available only on App Store for iPhone. I've tried iEmu and Cider, but the function for downloading iOS apps is broken on both - my guess would be that Apple has cracked down. So there is no way of getting the app I need onto my device.

There are plenty of options for developers to test their own apps in the iOS environment, but it appears no good way to just run an iPhone-only app. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm fine with emulator for Android phone or desktop, or just creative ways of getting the application file onto my phone.

    Thanks in advance!

Has my Google Pixel 2XL been compromised?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:33 AM PST

Last night while charging my phone displayed a black screen with a corrupt data message. I restarted the device and it loaded briefly before restarting itself again. After loading the second time it appears to be working normally but I noticed that my ringtone and notification tones have been changed to this. nfc transfer ringtone I didn't change them and I didn't have these ringtones downloaded to my device. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and what I should do about it?

Is there a way to make volume control more granular?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:15 AM PST

I have tinnitus (a constant ringing in my ears that will be with me for life), and regardless of what headphones I use, audio on android is always too loud or too quiet. I'm sensitive to the hearing I have left and don't want to listen louder than a moderate level.

Is there any app / config / something I dont know about that can help me with this? Thanks!

Transferring Whatsapp Chat History from iPhone to Android

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:53 AM PST

Hello, up until the other day I'd been using an iPhone 5S, but I've just got a new S20 and I'm excited to join the world of Android. Over the last day or two, I've had a great time playing around with it, and I've successfully managed to transfer my contacts, calendars, notes, pictures and apps etc from my iPhone to the S20.

However, now comes the tricky part. I use Whatsapp heavily, and I'd really like to transfer all my chats to the S20. Unfortunately, it looks like Whatsapp doesn't have the capability to do this from iPhone to Android, without some sort of third-party program involved. Plus, I've changed my carrier and now have a new SIM card (and therefore a different phone number), so that may complicate matters. I've had a look at a few sites, and there seem to be a few programs which offer this, but I'm not too convinced by their reliability.

Can anyone vouch for a completely trustworthy method to transfer my Whatsapp chats over? Thanks very much in advance!

Sony Xperia Z2 touch not working

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 06:32 AM PST

    Hi All.

My beloved phone (Xiaomi) has given up on me today and I had to rummage through my old (broken) phones to check if I can salvage one for back-up use. I'm still being amazed by old broken phones that would suddenly light up as if time really heals.

Tried charging them one by one and my old Sony Xperia Z2 has lit up. I had my hopes up but I can't touch anything. I continued charging it to no avail. However, I had become curious as to what files I can salvage on this device - might even include pictures of me and my dad when he was alive, which, if I can recover, will mean so much.

Now, is there any chance I can recover my files without repairing it? I'm also not sure if it has a password but since I had a strict parents, I believe it had and I may not be able to guess it.

Thank you very much in advance. :)

My screen won't go to sleep after a YouTube video of it's plugged in.

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:06 AM PST

Basically above. My phone won't sleep after a YouTube video ends.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S21 and I have YouTube premium. I don't have the setting in developer mode to keep the screen on. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

The screen will go to sleep if I'm on any other screen. It's just the end of YouTube videos where it gets stuck.

This is the screen it gets stuck on. (It stays like this indefinitely until I touch it)

    End screen

Could someone reset my Gmail password if he stole my phone and knew my email?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:23 AM PST

So I have 2FA enabled, I have both SIM cards set up for Auth and also Google authenticator and have backup codes.

So, if someone were to steal my phone and took out the SIM cards and inserted them in his phone, could he reset my Gmail password through "forgot password"?

He could just enter my number by looking at about phone and then put in the one time password, then he could change my recovery emails and recovery phone numbers and lock me out of my email forever

Or does Google not let you recover just through phone number? Does it ask for more if there is a new device and a completely new IP address? Will it ask for backup codes?

This is really making me anxious for the past few days...

Edit- well I locked both of my sim cards with pins

Android 10 (Samsung): how can I use a firewall without using up the VPN slot? (No root)

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:51 PM PST

For now I'm using NoRoot Firewall, it's an excellent app but the problem is that it takes the Virtual Private Network slot and I'm not able to use it.

I am trying to block certain apps (like Gboard) from accessing the internet... while still using a Virtual Private Network.

Iphones have this native ability to block internet access to apps, but Samsung phones are out of luck (I'm on android 10).

(Other android phones can still natively block internet access, though, it looks like it's disabled by Samsung on purpose).

Why do some Xiaomi phones have a charger that is not compatible with the phone?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:09 AM PST

For the example the redmi note 9 supports 18W fast charging but the charger in the box is 22.5W since the charger also supports 15W Does that mean that it will only charge 15W ?
