Did the recent One UI 3 upgrade gey rid of Wi-Fi calling? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 08:37 AM PST Just recently updated my system with the One UI 3 update, but now I can't find the Wi-Fi Calling option anywhere on my phone. Just what the heck happened? Edit to title: get. Edit 2: I have found what the problem was! For anyone else encountering the same issue:
So it seems that even though the "Wi-Fi Calling" button/option isn't available anymore on my Samsung Phone, it is active in the background and still works. To use it, you have to turn on airplane mode and/or turn off mobile data anytime you want to make a call. [link] [comments] |
How do I tell Google Maps a road is closed? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 08:04 AM PST I was driving and there was a road closure. I turned around, drove about 5-10 min hoping it would reroute me. It kept trying to make me go down the same closed road! I kept saying: "Google, the road is closed" "I can't go that way." "I want an alternative route." It didn't understand any of these! What do I need to say to give me a different route? [link] [comments] |
Gboard is not deleting learned words Posted: 20 Feb 2021 01:59 AM PST I type in Arabic (phonetically though) and have certain phrases and names that I tried to delete by: 1- Deleting all learned words in advanced settings 2- Deleting app cache and data 3- Uninstalling the app The only way to get rid of them is by manually removing them and deleting them individually. However the moment I download the keyboard again or on another device all the words show up again. It is becoming frustrating because I send many emails for work from my phone and it affects my typing flow. Is there are there any way I could potentially just remove all gboard data that is associated to my Google account from somewhere to have the words learned completely reset? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2021 11:44 AM PST Jesus Christ i hate AMP so much.. it causes so many issues with media in sites. Im currently using Bromite browser (and don't really want to go back to Kiwi). And i want to keep google as a search engine (duckduckgo and others just dont give results as well). Is there anyway of disabling this PoS 'innovation' by default im my current setup? Galaxy S20 "No Network Connection" Posted: 20 Feb 2021 07:48 AM PST Started getting this message in my status bar the other day. It only shows up on the lock screen, where my clock/notifications would be. When I unlock the device, it goes away and a "🚫" symbol appears next to my wifi icon. The weird thing is, everything works fine. Haven't had any connectivity issues, either on wifi or using LTE. Any ideas why it's happening (a fix would also be nice but seeing as things work fine, I'm not itching to fix it). [link] [comments] |
Download failed because resources could not be found Posted: 20 Feb 2021 09:07 AM PST I updated a mobile game from the Aurora Store and whenever I want to launch the game it gives me the error "Download failed because resources could not be found" I can just uninstall and reinstall the game again maybe this will work but I didn't save my game data to google play games so when I reinstall it I have to start everything from new Can someone also suggest me to save my game progress somewhere without google etc.? Exporting health data from iPhone to Android Posted: 20 Feb 2021 07:47 AM PST Hello, I have sold my iPhone 6S and bought Galaxy S20+. Before doing so, I have transfered my data using the Smart switch. Not so long ago I noticed that my steps and health data are not backed up to my new device, just like any social media messages. Since I don't have an iPhone anymore, is there a way to transfer health data from iTunes backup to android? I would also like to transfer my Whatsapp messages to S20 if possible since I did a backup on iTunes and Tenorshare iCareFone software, however I need to buy USB to usb-c cable before doing so. If it's not possible, I won't bother. Have anyone here ever done similar? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
gallery not showing in date order when uploading to social media on new phone Posted: 20 Feb 2021 12:09 PM PST I just updated my phone from a Huawei p20 to an oppo find x2. transferred all my data over fine but I just noticed that when i went to post a photo on twitter my gallery was completely out of order. usually it will be sorted in date order so you can select the most recent first but the order appears to be completely random. it's fine in both my photo apps (the phone's app and Google photos), they just don't appear in date order when uploading to social media apps (but for some reason on fb messenger it's fine). does anyone know how to fix this? Help moving from Galaxy Q to Google Pixel Posted: 20 Feb 2021 11:50 AM PST I'm trying to help someone move from their old Galaxy Q to a Google Pixel. This means transferring all of their photos, videos, and contact list. Most of the guides I've found online apply to more modern phones so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the process or if there's any free software available to simplify the process. With the lockdown situation, I'm trying to help guide them through the process remotely. My guess is that transferring the photos and videos won't be too difficult, but the contact list might be on their SIM card. I believe the Pixel uses a smaller SIM, so we need to find a way to export the data. Any help is appreciated! [link] [comments] |

Should I use airpods with an android device? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 11:28 AM PST I received airpods as a gift. Should I use them with my android phone, or give them away to someone with an iPhone? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2021 01:44 AM PST I have a Moto X4 running Android 9.0 (pie). Recently, I have noticed that its microphone is not working in calls i.e. person on the receiving end can not hear my voice, only noise instead. And after searching for possible workarounds, I tried to put it on speakerphone but to no avail, noise still persists. But when I try to record a video via camera app, it records audio clearly without any noise whatsoever. It has a primary mic and two noise cancellation mics. It seems to me that the primary mic has gone bad and the other two mics are being used in video recording. So my question is, is there any way to use/force secondary microphone as a default mic through build.prop or some other alternative? Headphone jack seems to be broken too, so I can unfortunately not use any earphones as external mic. Please help. [link] [comments] |
Suggestion History / Autocorrect Issue. LG Stylo 6 Posted: 20 Feb 2021 11:22 AM PST I'm having an annoying albeit minor issue with my LG Stylo 6. Autocorrect sucks at times, and has decided to add words and misspellings I'd rather not have popping up and waste time correcting and/or retconning if I'm texting. Settings > System > Language & Keyboard > LG Keyboard > Word Suggestions > Clear Suggestion History does absolutely nothing. My Personal Dictionary is empty, yet the wrong words and letterings persist to frustrate my texting and writing. An example is when I try to write "that" one automatic suggestion is "thatassholewhotalkslikethisallthetime" in reference to a comment made the other day. I do not foresee ever typing this again and want it (and other abominable autocorrects) gone from my life and my phone. I like the LG Keyboard and would not enjoy switching to the proven-to-delete-properly Gboard which fills me with nausea upon sight. Long-pressing the word does not allow me to delete it either. Help? Distraught across user needs help! Posted: 20 Feb 2021 11:09 AM PST I changed to Android 18 months ago from being a long time Apple user because i was fed up of apples control freak nature. I installed an app manager in my Samsung galaxy s10+ some time ago to move Asia to my sd card and maintain free space for the system internally. This continued to decrease and i saw something about activating developer mode so you can move more apps over to sd. I did this and messed up the system. I know. Anyway i managed to get it working again. Things were ok again until i left it updating to Android 11 about 5 nights ago. Then it bricked! So in the end after trying things i had tried flashing firmware (January Android 11 fw i think) and factory resetting the phone. I updated security patch to the feb one and restored from both Google backup and Samsung backup. I have two main problems: 1) the backups don't seem to have restored my settings - my background and ring tone have returned but my settings panel from the pull down tab aren't back, half of my contacts aren't there or my favourite contacts, i moved to Nova launcher because the one ui lost my icon layout and i can't restore my Nova backups (nothing changes when i do), etc 2) Samsung pass claims my phone is rooted. It never has done. The only thing i can think of making it think that is when i moved some apps over to the sd using the developer option I could really do with advise on addressing these matters but please can you explain steps instead of giving a vague solution please? Right now I'm tempted to go back to Apple because it's just ridiculous how much addressing and I've had to do to get my phone working again lol [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Feb 2021 04:56 AM PST I have a folder with music files, every one has a different thumbnail embedded. But when i play them with any music player, they just choose one thumbnail and display it for every file in that folder. [link] [comments] |
Galaxy Note 9 -- not getting GMAIL notifications. Posted: 20 Feb 2021 10:54 AM PST I'm a bit confused. I need to get email notifications moment of, but the last two days, I haven't been getting any -- not even the icon. All my notifications are set to "on." Was there an update or something that screwed this up? I have sent "test" emails to myself from pc that arrive, but don't trigger alerts. Everything under notifications is turned on though, and sync is on. Without hyperbole, if I don't get alerted by emails so I can at least respond to them, I don't make money. Which makes leaving the house a bit of a bitch. [link] [comments] |
Pixel 3a no longer connects to PC for file transfers Posted: 20 Feb 2021 10:50 AM PST Just like the title says. It just stopped working. It still charges too. Tried it on my other computer and also nothing. What's up?! [link] [comments] |
Why do all mobile devices need their own system image instead of a generic one? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 09:59 AM PST I've heard about project treble, but it's not really an universal image, those GSIs often aren't bugless and they are not an official option. What I mean is, that if you see PCs with Windows or Linux, their updates are independent from the manufacturer, while on mobile devices (Android, iOS) they have to make a specific update for each device. In theory, would it be possible to update mobile OSs like desktop OSs? Since Android is Linux, I can imagine that it could use 3 repositories: one for the Android system itself, one for the custom UI (like desktop environments on Linux) and one for the device drivers. These latter two could of course overwrite some parts of the Android to not restrict the possibilites of the OEMs, but if the latter two repositories would be updated and ready for the next Android, the version update could happen automaticaly, from a general image. So why it isn't working similary to this yet? Why do the update system of mobile devices work like they do now? [link] [comments] |
How do i extend the duration i can record videos for on my Samsung Galaxy S10E? Posted: 20 Feb 2021 09:55 AM PST Hey all! I've got a Samsung galaxy S10e SM-G970F and i've noticed the recording limit for videos is only 4GB at one time. When i set the rear camera to max resolution which is UHD 3849x2160 (60fps) the max duration is 8 minutes which is 4GB. The video keeps on recording after 8 mins but then after for example 1 hour worth of video when you look in the galery you'll have like 6 separate vids that add up to the hour. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to extend the limit? I don't mind going down resolution if it means being able to shoot a longer vid. I hear there is 3rd party apps which allow it, if that is the only way, can someone guide me to a good app please? OR last thing, if there is vids all separated into separate 4GB vids, is there a way to join them altogether? OR If none of the above is okay and the third party app is not a good idea, if i drop the resolution to maybe FHD at 2288x1080 30fps then how long will i be able to record for? (Would be helpful to know before i sit there and record a long video to find out that it has separated the segments in separate vids at 4GB per vid, sometimes i may actually record very long vids). Thanks all! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 20 Feb 2021 06:46 AM PST The lg rebel 4 I bought I can't get to stop making the busy signal 'brrrr' noise for x amount of time every time I boot it up, of which means you pretty much have no sound, especially with headphones. I tried force stopping device activation, as once it gives up activating after x amount of time it turns sound back to normal, but that just makes it seem to stay silent forever. I turned device activation's permissions to where it makes no interruptions but that at first seemed to help but then it just started doing it again. Also, as I'm obviously poor, wifi keeps turning itself on and that means I get spammed with ads, and with some applications that's unacceptable as I am add as it is. So wifi turning itself on is abhorrent and it torturing you to activate it by neglecting sound quality is also abhorrent so is there any 'famous' cheap android that 'just works'? Also is there a famous 'affordable' android that allows to downgrade? I assume downgrading is going to be essential with how upgrades are so often downgrades with the whole 'they control you' issue. I've read most phones can't downgrade and I've never even rooted an android due to fear of bricking it. Above all as I can delete the wifi router chosen so my core issue is the sound problem.
